Bill, As long as we are on the subject, could you give me your insight/reason to why my V3 Microns AAD pocket is under the reserve flap, and not easily used on the outside as in Mirage, Wings etc. ? Nice rig though, even if my shoulder riser covers keep popping up. ( they're a bit tight as i use the cutaway tubes and third risers... still not nice of them opening every once in awhile..) Tomppa

Thanks!

Deuce! Any hint of the pricing of those birds? Tomppa

Way to go! I'm usually shitty at thanking people for good service, but now I have to. I have a Coolpix 5000 - Digisnap 5000 and Conceptus biteswitch combination and had some problems with the focusing. So just as I figured out by myself to mod the switch, I was contacted by Conceptus how to make the mod. Great service! They contacted me after reading here that I use their stuff, just like that, I didn't have to ask for help. That is what I call good service, thanks guys Tomppa

I'm useing a N 5000, Digisnap 5000 and Conceptus biteswitch.... Works nicely. Only thing missing is a good flash...

Yup! I use the adapter and a Raynox 0,66. Its equivalent to a Canon 17 mm!!! And I'm going to try the 0,26!! It should be something like 200 degrees of view!!!! Tomppa

Oh yeah and by the way; for a remote shutter to connect try http://www.harbortronics.com and u don't have to buy the expensive Nikon lenses (though they are good). Try these, I have various ones, they're very nice! Many of the lenses are good for the 5000, not only the ones the say are! http://raynox.co.jp/english/egindex.htm Tomppa

Hell yeah, you can use manual focusing, which is alot safer anyway in freefall.... try these: ftp://ftp.nikon-euro.com/DOWNLOAD/E5000/E5000rmena.pdf and http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/NV431XP_mass_us.pdf should also work. The euro site at least works, but be patient, it's not asmall book...... Tomppa

Sony recently started selling the new format TRV cams. They seem to be designed like some kind of a hybrid between the old PC's ja TRV's. Do you guys know if anybody makes d-boxes or such for those yet??? thanks, Tomppa

Riser strikes aren't your only worry. Just imagine the diffence in stress on your neck if the extra weight is in line with your spine, or directly on the side. Tomppa

Try Raynox, very good quality! http://raynox.co.jp/english/video/egwidehdxl.htm tomppa

Holes cut into the ribs on my new Cobalt!
x3mcam replied to andrewstewart's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have to agree with most iof the concerned guys. Not knowing what the holes are and buying a Cobalt sounds like problem just waiting to happen. No patronozing here, as long as you use your head, and ask around, it's ok. blue ones, Tomppa -
"while a well-built unit, was way too hard for me to read below 1000 feet, and I ..." - You know, nothing is really accurate under 1000 feet. What I mean is, at 6000 a hundred or so isn't very important, but at 300 you better be quick! Try getting used to doing some judging of height on the surroundings, and not only rely on mechanics.. Yup! Stuff like that happen! When I started jumping camera I was something of a freeflyer. You know, getting a stable position is not belly down but sit-down. So I was lucky to make about 50 uneventful 4-way camerajobs. So we went to Portugal to train, and I was urged into testing all kinds of stuff, be close, move, get great shots, work on the exit and so on... Well, I thought I,d get some really neat close-up exits and released REALLY late a few times. So on one jump I was intentionally late, hit the back man, pushed myself away from his rig and tumbled. It took me a while to realize where the team was... I found them above me, wondering what happened? I was stable, the god damned sitflyer sitting in my camera suit under the team. Nice shot though. A moment of nice vid, back to belly down, max wings and Whoooff, back to were I was supposed to be... Nice... 500 jumps later stable is back to belly down Tomppa

OK, thanks, We stand corrected. Well that was what I thought... Why would Atair start merging with someone else? dough..... Tomppa

Just picked this up at a Finisih site: "A new international parachute and paragliding company has been formed. Headquartered in Luxembourg this company has operations in the USA, France, Mauritius and shortly will have additional operations in South Africia and Malaysia. Check out the NEW AERODYNE INTERNATIONAL. The Cobalt is no longer manufactured. Atair merged with Aerodyne! " - Anybady know something about it? -Dan???? Tomppa
-
Quade, that was one of the reasons. And as we remember what Sections 5 states in the start of the part about world records: "3.1.2 General Conditions (1) All record attempts must be performed according to the Competition Rules, where appropriate." blue ones Tomppa

Tony, thanks! Looks like a reasonable set up. Is the shell it self standard? I mean, do you mean that the inner lining/filling is made personal with foam or such? I'm merely comparing to the FlatTop Pro with thermoformable liners...... I've seen some badly fitted Hansons, that's not what I want, is it? blue skies and great shot, Tony!
