    Poison Ivy

The best product I found to help deal with poison ivy is Burt's Bees Poison Ivy Soap. Use it to wash the affected area, rinse and dry, then apply some of the soap lather on the affected area and let it dry on the skin. I tried many remedies but this was best of all. Good luck. 2. Congrats on your tandem and welcome to the skies. Time for some AFF next. I was 49 when I did AFF. You can join the Parachutists over Phorty Society now. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  3. You just got two good answers. As a relative newbie I can tell you that during the learning and/or canopy transition you will have some less than perfect landings. Always be ready to do a PLF. You don't want to risk any further damage to your legs or ankles. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  4. You sure sound like a normal person with the right amount of apprehension. I was in your shoes - or should I say under your chute - not long ago. Relax, don't rush anything, and enjoy the learning journey. It just keeps getting better. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  5. Welcome to the forums and the crazy world of skydiving! Yes, there is a pretty steep learning curve with plenty of overload in the beginning. Hang in there and you'll move along in the progression. Just remember to not hurry anything. As many have said, this is not a sprint but more of a marathon. I am still pretty new too and remember well what you are experiencing. Relax and enjoy the journey. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  6. Some of the larger DZs have a payment plan program that can be very helpful. While you are paying on your gear you can skip the rental fees. Check to see if you can find one of those. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  7. I have the exact same equipment and find the fit is snug, but it does fit just fine. Remove your liners and double check the fit. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  8. That was a very good deal. I searched for many weeks to find a good rig with a sabre2 190, including posting a want ad, and finally got frustrated and bought new. Your deal was much better! The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  9. If I remember correctly that information was displayed in MS Flight Simulator, along with GPS coordinates, for any location you chose. I checked the data once against my airplane nav gear and found it was quite accurate. Check it out and let us know if that works for you. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  10. Don't worry about the repeat. Many students have one or two of those. One key thing I was told to remember about skydiving, and have found to be very true - it is NOT a sprint, it is more of a marathon. Don't rush anything. Take your time, relax, learn and enjoy. Blue skies! The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  11. You are no different than most other students. If you didn't have some apprehension about jumping out of the plane you would be very abnormal. Just listen to your instructors, visualize and practice what they tell you about the jump, relax and follow the plan. You will be fine and feel very good about yourself after that first jump. It's not as difficult as you are imagining. Dang, if it were most of use would not have made it!
  12. Congrats on the A license! Yes, it's really cool when some of the more experienced folks include you in group dives, and that will start to happen more frequently the more that people get to know you at the DZ. Heck even the venerable SkyMama has been known to jump with newbies like us! The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  13. This is more true than not. Based on the time spent skydiving other toys really could be sold. Case in point is my bass boat. It's definitely been getting less attention than before. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  14. Before ordering a container I talked with several riggers about the trade-offs. As many here have already said, the riggers also said the modern gear is all pretty good. However, every one of the riggers said their preference, disregarding cost or wait time, was a Vector. That is what I ordered. That said, I am sure you will be pleased with whichever one you select. 15. I was a charter member of "I Phelta Thi". Other than that one, in which I highly recommend his involvement, it's a waste of time. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  16. Happy 29th SkyMama!! Hope you have a great day! The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  17. Congrats on finishing AFF! That is a good accomplishment. Enjoy that solo dive. It will probably seem really long without any assigned tasks to complete. The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  18. The picture on the front of Parachutist for June is impressive. Here is the video that goes with it. All in support of a great cause too. http://vimeo.com/11880206 The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  19. Congrats on the new rig! It's got to be exciting to start jumping with your own gear instead of renting like I do. Out of curiosity, what did that kit cost you? The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  20. Yep! The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  21. Great job! That had me laughing. I am happy to report this fun jumper (and newbie) has had no such experience at DeLand.
  22. It will click for you soon. It took a dozen or so jumps before I started to reliably retrain my brain for parachute instead of airplane. Hmmm, I wonder what switching back to airplane landings would be like now? The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  23. Congrats on getting the spin fixed and on getting off of student status! It just keeps getting better doesn't it? The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  24. This video will give you another example of the possibilities. I think Dale was a gymnast before taking up skydiving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SMvmW2Bfio The meaning of life . . . is to make life have meaning.
  25. Skydive Space Center in Titusville is the closest but I've heard people complain it's a tandem mill with limited slots for fun jumpers. I think Deland or Sebastian would be the closest DZs that are more accommodating. I can't compare them for you though as I've only got experience with Deland - and have no complaints there.
