Two years ago I skipped my 10 year HS reunion. My theory on it was - I never wanted to hang out with any of them when I was actually in high school - I wasn't going to pretend I wanted to 10 years later. Instead I spent that weekend at the DZ . . . . surrounded by the type of friends I could have only dreamed of in highschool Zilla

I think I'd have a large bowl of shrimp bisque, followed by "good" crab cakes. Topped off with a glass (oh heck - a bottle) of really good white wine. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm now I'm hungry darnnit! Zilla

I just saw this blurb on the local news site WTOP..... NEAR THE KUWAIT-IRAQ BORDER (AP) - Orange flames could be seen Thursday on the horizon in the direction of the southern Iraqi oil center Basra, and U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said three or four oil wells may have been set afire. Witnesses in Kuwait about eight miles south of the border said the flickering flames were spotted after a series of explosions that shook buildings in the area. It was not known if the flames resulted from the explosions. The Arab satellite television channel Al-Arabiya reported that fires had erupted in Iraq's al-Rumeila field west of Basra and just north of the Kuwaiti border. Associated Press reporter Ross Simpson, embedded with a Marine unit in northern Kuwait, says he was told by a battalion commander that "three oil wells have been torched" in Iraq. He said he had no first-hand confirmation of the report. =================== But that's about all I've seen/heard yet..... Zilla

My most embarrassing moment was....back when I only had about 120 jumps I decided I wanted to play with the "big boys" at my old dropzone. They were having a swooping contest that was basically seeing who could swoop into the hangar and in the process leave the longest "toe" marks in the pea gravel out front of the hangar area. I set up my Tomcat 136 for the turn....came in on line with the open hangar doors, and couldn't keep it lined up - I ended up leaving quite a long respectable 'toe mark" in the pea gravel. Unfortunately it ended abruptly at the gas pump off to the side. There was quite an impressive dent in the front of it. There I stood with a shredded jumpsuit and a bloody leg. All I could do was bow to the crowd - untangle my canopy from the pumps - and hobble off around the hangar to hide. ~~Zilla

There was a funny article about a protestor in Washington State today (not a free Mumia protestor - but a protestor all the same) "...OLYMPIA -- A man spent hours chained to the wrong building Tuesday in an ill-planned effort to protest war with Iraq, police said. Jody Mason padlocked himself to an entrance of the Washington State Grange building at 924 Capitol Way S., thinking it was a sub-office of the U.S. Department of Energy..... He told employees he'd chained himself to the building in civil disobedience Monday night after listening to President Bush's televised ultimatum to Saddam Hussein. ...... Grange employees explained that he was at the wrong building. The Grange is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that advocates for residents in rural areas. ...." Dumbass! - I have no problem if you want to express your views (whatever they may be) - but at least make sure you have the right place. ~~Zilla

Hey there Dave, Glad to hear your going to start back up with the jumping. I've been at Skydive Orange for the last 5 years. I'm happy to hear you've settled on Orange to continue jumping. We have a great group of people there and a great instructional staff. I think you'll really enjoy it (Not to mention a rockin' night life after sunset) Looking forward to seeing you at the DZ soon! I can remember watching blue jays take after our family cat when I was little. It was hysterical....you'd see the cat high-tailing it across the back yard with the blue jay(s) in hot pursuit. When you'd pet the cat's head you could feel the peck marks from when the blue jays actually hit their mark. Don't get me wrong....I love cats - it's just that as a child it provided hours of entertainment. Kind of an ironic turn of the tables in the cat and bird relationship. Zilla

Here's my baby . . her name is Fred. She's a combo Autstrailian Cattle Dog and something else. This photo was taken of her during our last big snow. While it looks like someone has just given her a swift kick to the stomach . . . she was really in mid-jump trying to catch snowballs we were tossing for her :) Zilla

Definately LMAO!! They had one in our local paper (Virginia) that a 60-some year old man robbed a bank, ran back to the get-away car only to find he had locked his keys in his car. He proceeds to beat the car window (trying to break it) ...the ruckus draws a crowd that takes after him. The crowd finally caught him - he tried shooting one of them, but only succeeded in shooting HIMSELF in the leg. One of the crowd members then shot the bank robber in the other leg. Not quite a Darwin Award nominee, but with this track record we only need to give him a year or so. He'll get there!

I think your right. My mom always used to comment on the fact that "ohhhh, people are acting crazy, must be a full moon" and it used to irritate me, b/c I was conviced SHE was crazy.. That is until I got a bit older and began observing that things DO in fact seem to get crazier around a full moon!

Sending good vibes from Virginia for you. It's a horrible horrible feeling when something happens with your pets (cats or dogs). Hang in there and I hope it works out!

My experience over the years with it has been this: 1. pied for your 100th, 500th, 1000th, and then every thousandth thereafter 2. even if they don't get you the day of your jump - you are still fair game - regardless of how long it takes. Usually the longer you go keeping it a secret - the more vicious a pie-ing you will receive. One of the funniest pie-ings I was ever involved in happend about 8 years ago, when we pied a girl for her 200th. As we were rushing her with the pies, she whipped out a bunch of uncooked eggs from her pockets and started chuckin em at us. Needles to say it was a horrible mess Zilla
