We try to schedule and confirm the gully washers a year in advance. This is not one of the things that we publicize that we do effectively. ----- ~~~Michael

And your desire to spiral? All kidding aside, high capacity loads like this do get strung out so always be prepared with a pull up cord, your cell and a sense of which direction to walk when the corn is over your head. ----- ~~~Michael

several years ago (pre 9/11) was traveling with a friend and we had way too much bar time before getting on the plane. as they started boarding, we started gearing up. ----- ~~~Michael -
I made it back to the DZ from I-57 and landed by the swoop pond. dumped just over 3k and had a good wind at my back to do it though. ----- ~~~Michael

On Monday, the cert for dropping jumpers out of the DC9 will expire. This was approved for the duration of the WFFC. Perris will continue to work on a permanent waiver, but this is it for now. If you got out to jump the jet, lucky you. I got out of it twice before i had to go. Excellent fun and excellent times, even in the rain. ----- ~~~Michael

Things not to say on an commercial jet after leaving the WFFC 2006

'Hey Mr. Pilot. Last time I was in one of these, I didn't land.' Luckily I had video to prove it. First flight out to head back to work was on a Jetstream 32, a craft destined to be a jump plane at some point in its future life. The pilot? former jump plane pilot in Geneseo IL and Palatka FL (Justin something or another as I recall). Plane #2 was an MD80, similar to the DC9. Pilot was former Airborne and loved the video of everyone bailing out the ass end of the plane. He was asking about the safety briefing - well, if there's a problem in flight, we're all just going to orderly exit that nice big fat juicy door in the back. Thanks to the Conasters and especially Dixie from the FAA who ended up getting a few hugs and big wet sloppy kisses from skydivers who were appreciative of her work to get the DC9 approved. ----- ~~~Michael -
I'm thinking this was from jet load #1. Ping me next week and I'll give Cajones a call to see if we can get it. ----- ~~~Michael

So, the weather left and off we go...You wanted jet jumps and now you're getting them thanks to Skydive Perris and their combined efforts with Don Kirlin and the FAA. Photo Credit to Cajones Rodriguez (www.PerrisMedia.com) and lift courtesy Mike Mullins. ----- ~~~Michael

And those are like? the MD80 is the bulk of American Airlines fleet (aka the planes I'm on most of the time). The perris jet is a variant of the DC9. model -21 (or -19) and is referred to as the 'sport' model. It was designed for higher altitude operations and only 10 were made, most sent to Europe. This is only one of this type in the US - the others here in the states are parts. I posted the seat configuration in one of the other WFFC threads so give me some time to find it. btw, 'little' plane, big engines. ----- ~~~Michael
