  1. It's clean...well, Famosa was involved so take it for what it's worth... ----- ~~~Michael
  2. Give me 2-3 days once I get it. Just need it as hi res AVI remember... ----- ~~~Michael
  3. show up at your door? Please answer appropriately...Doing the math, USPA spends approximately $1.34 per copy of Parachutist and like everyone else, have felt the cost of doing business go up. Having talked to a couple BOD/Regional directors, some at USPA are under the impression that the multiple copies that go to an address might possibly get 'left' somewhere for someone else to read and possibly get interested in the sport. Good idea, but not sure that's the case. In my house, there are two subscriptions, one goes straight to the trash, the other makes it to the coffee table till it's been gone through, then it joins its mate at the dump. Thought/opinions? ----- ~~~Michael

    Tipping

only after a quick walk around inspection and I didn't hear my wheels squeeling as they drove it out of the partking deck.

Then there's the dude who took my bags back to be scanned, let me rephrase: I left them next to the door he needed to toss my bags through. He did proceed to check my bags and as I was walking away, caught me and started to explain to me that as a professional in his industry, he would personally make sure my bags got on the plane, etc., etc, etc... Well, not being an idiot, I know he didn't have much to do with the bags once he tossed them behind the door. Besides, he didn't do anything more than the ticket agent inside did for me. Also, I carried the bags to where they needed to be. If the skycap hauls everything in for me, $1 per bag if they aren't overloaded. Individuals who take jobs in a service industry where part of their salary is based on tips need to know that they're personal performance will reflect in the tips they get. Take care of the customer and they will take care of you. My personal tipping scale: Restaurant bad food, bad service - Generally zero, but it also depends on how the server/manager deal with the complaint. Restaurant OK service - 10% Restaurant - 15-20% or more - my glass never gets empty, things are picked up quickly when done, even though something gets screwed up (kitchen staff dropped my stuff) they communicate. Hair - the hair guy gets a gift card at xmas (I'm a guy - there isn't much to do) Taxi - if they assume they're getting a tip, they get nothing. e.g. meter reads $12, I give them $15, I expect change and then I may give some back. If I hand them $15 and they say thank you, I remind them they need to give me my change and then I don't tip at all. Pizza guy - $1-$2 (nasty weather - $5-$10 depending on how nasty the weather was and how bad I really didn't want to go out.)
  6. Richard Bach - Johnathan Livingston Seagull. suprised it's not been listed in this thread (and this group) yet. ----- ~~~Michael
  7. They're all different and 'the best' depending on when you look at them. Find one that has a fare you're comfortable with paying and then don't look at it again. ----- ~~~Michael
  8. Nope...Had a non paying customer once...I now own his prized domain. Also, build easter eggs in software that if not recompiled by X date, it will become non functional. ----- ~~~Michael
  9. So the news chick at the ends says..."so, they know she looks forward to it?" She's obviously not had too much excitement in her life... ----- ~~~Michael
  10. Look here: http://www.beauceronusa.com/ more specifically, here ----- ~~~Michael
  11. There is counseling for that. Now, just back away from the keyboard and we'll all get you the help you need... ----- ~~~Michael
  12. Do your research and make sure you know the credit laws better than they do, otherwise it could be painful if the collector gets tired of dealing with you and passes it off to the legal side. ----- ~~~Michael
  13. But the bonfires each night in Camp Colorado wouldn't have been so much fun....
  14. Tell them not to and send it to them in writing. IF they still do, you can sue them. Like I said, they can renew it every year for ever until you actually pay it off. Then you have to wait 7 years for it to be clear. 1. Tell them over the phone, document who you spoke to (date/time) and follow up in writing. 2. There are ways to use the fair credit reporting act to your benefit, once the item is 'closed' (paid off or otherwise). (pm sent) ----- ~~~Michael
  15. Doesn't work that way... ----- ~~~Michael

Uh huh... Like there's anyone in this crowd that's tried to say that before... ----- ~~~Michael
  17. I'm giving this a shameless bump to see if there is anything else that anyone wants to add. If not, I'll begin compiling all the notes and pass them onto the home office... ----- ~~~Michael
  18. T and I got a wild hair (well, I actually used to do this on my own anyway) over the weekend and went to the shelter to just look at the animals. Well, opened the cage to one and the kitty crawled out into my arms and snuggled up and just started purring like mad...Awwwwww. Well, T knows I've wanted to get a kitty again (mine passed about 3.5 years ago) so she say 'where do we sign up?'. It didn't sink in immediately until she mentioned that we needed to add Petsmart to the errand list for the day. She isn't home yet and got sick from the time we saw her on Saturday. Called the shelter today and she's still in solitary confinement but her fever is down and she's on meds. Hope she comes home soon... Anyway - Picture here ----- ~~~Michael
  19. If you want to get me a hi res AVI of it online when you're done, I'll put it on Freefall.com for you. Since there was no video crew, I'm kinda hurting for highlight videos this year. BTW, the only requirement is no nudity. Remember, this is a family event. ----- ~~~Michael

    Car Negotiations

Hit the internet...email all the Jeep dealers within 150-200 miles of where you are at. Tell them exactly what you're looking for (options, etc.) and tell them what you're looking to pay (total price, not payment) and ask for a response back. The ones that respond truely want your business. From the responses, narrow the field and hash one against the next. i.e. why shouldn't I drive the extra 60 miles to dealership B to save an additional 3500$. Once you whittle it down to the dealership you want to work with, you've pretty much done most of your negotiation online - timefactor saved for you from having to deal with car salespeople. You get what you want and what you want to pay for it. Granted, you may have to drive a bit further than you'd like, but it's worth it in the long run. Saved $4000 when I bought my truck this way. Total time spent dealing with the emails? about 90 minutes after I did my research. Time spent in dealership? 15 minutes. Did the financing paperwork via fax and email. Showed up, signed up and was out the door with my new toy. ----- ~~~Michael
  21. Yes. If any of you jumped with Norman Kent at the WFFC, you'll remember that he had you sign a model release for the photos.
  22. You're comparing 2 apples as an apple and an orange. The website (for example purposes only) is using my pictures. They stole them off of my online photo gallery. All photos in the gallery are copyrighted. My photos are cool and lead whuffo A to lean towards calling 1800skyride as compared to the local DZ listed in the phone book. Whuffo thinks to self 'self, these guys spent some time designing their website and the pictures they have online are pretty cool. Their photographers must be world class and I want that'. The art is the medium by which the deal is sealed. 1800skyride just made money by using my copyrighted material. They did not ask, nor did they receive permission to use them. Whether they take my picture and make posters or use it in their company advertising materials (read: website), they are using my work (read: talents) to better themselves (read: make money) without compensating for others work. Does that make it more clear?
  23. that's generally not how it works. People will vent to the most easily accessible source - in this case, it's right in front of them. Their anger, even though directed at skyride is going to be remembered as my home DZ. They stole it basically. Modified it a little to make it appear as their own, but it's still stolen. ----- ~~~Michael
  24. Causing harm here is taking away compensation from me that puts food on my table. Not exactly - If I submit to parachutist, it's known as a 'freebie' going in so yes, not as big of a deal. Note that I know I'm not getting compensated for it later. (edit to add: wasn't sure Parachutist paid for pictures) No...They should have asked in the beginning and they would have been given a $ amount to use the images on their site. Refer to top statement where I said they're stealing food off my table.
  25. Basically: We exit the plane together (me hanging onto you with a death grip). Exit plane, you deploy immediately. If I hang on, great. If I don't...well, Ohhhhhh Nooooooooooooooooooooooo Mr. Bill from the old Saturday Night Live. ----- ~~~Michael
