There is a picture on page A 14 of the LA Times of Matthew Strickland hanging from his main which is wrapped on the roof of a building and he is hanging over the edge about 20ft. There are 5 soldiers trying to pull him up.

This is a great slideshow, both the editors pics and the viewers pics. It will take you through the whole gamut of your emotions in 60 seconds. I found it one of the best things I have ever seen on the web. It makes me kinda want to be a photagrapher but I am too impatient and lazy. I voted for the "Changing Season" pic of the palace. I fly non-revenue on Delta all the tme with my rig and have never had a problem, even with it in my carry on. I got nabbed last weekend on a random security check and all I had in my suitcase was a pair of jeans, boxers, a tee shirt and my rig. That had to look bad. It was a one day trip. What are your other choices? I grew up near Ft Worth and actually worked in Ft Worth for 3 years. It is hot as hell in the summer, cold as hell in the winter and they have plagues, and I mean plagues, of grasshopprs then crickets every year. They pile up when they die and stink to high heaven. There are lots of nice restaraunts, movie theaters and malls because that is the only thing to do. The traffic sucks, and there is no reason for it. There are no moutains or large bodies of water to contend with. The city planning sucks. They will build 10,000 houses off of an old farm road then take 10 years to realize it. (121) Friggin loop 820 is 4 lanes wide West of I35 and 2 lanes East of it! It would take you forever to get to Skydive Dallas. The cost of living is cheap but property taxes are high 3-4%. The people are nice and there are many more hot chicks there than in CA, believe it or not....Depending on the alternaives, Id lean against Ft Worth.

My company, BNSF railroad, is actually pretty decent. I have a rare job though, I only work 3-4 days a week, am not on call, and have 5 weeks vacation with 5 years of service. I work in a small branch office, which makes all the difference. There are other employees on call 24/7 and if I wanted to get promoted, I would be one of them.....Screw that....Im happy right where Im at. Mike

I just wanted everyone to know, if you don't already, that Kate and Tony are truly class acts. I was lucky enough to go to the Square 1 Christmas party. Im telling you, it was 1st class all the way. They really spent some bank but the best thing is seeing how much they truly love all their employees, even Frank. They didn't have to do it at all and for sure they didn't have to make it that nice but they care about their employees and it shows. To get on my pedistal, we all need to support companies that are more concerned with their employees than their stockholders or customers. Southwest Airlines is a great example. Their employees don't make any more money than those at other airlines but they all LOVE their job. They don't spend a ton of money on their employees, they treat them with respect and always let them know how valuable they are. And they are making money when everyone else is not. If we all supported companies like this, pretty soon all of them would have to do the same. If I owned a business, I would take more satisfaction if I gave my employees a good job that they can support their familes and be happy at work, which is a major chunk of their lives than I would making a bunch of stockholders rich. Our priority as Americans needs to be to make peoples lives truly richer, not put money in their pockets for getting lucky in the market. Mike

Congrats dude! I know the feeling.....Getting my A was one of the coolest moments in my life, much cooler than the pilots licence or anything else I ever earned. Its hard to explain the feeling aint it? The next cool feeling is when you get your own brand new rig....Blue called me and told me it just arrived when I was in Atlanta Airport on my way to Argentina for 9 days, I was friggin nuts by the time I got back. We flew for 14 hours and drove straight to the DZ from LAX. I made all the rest of the jumps that day. I LOVE my rig more than anything else I own....just wait.... Mike

I grew up on a farm and had nothing better to do than burn and blow up stuff. This is all no shit: I: 1. Burned down an abandoned farmhouse with my best friend by accident. 2. Made a foot long pipe bom out of 1" pipe and set it off in the drainage pipe under the sidewalk to the Ag Barn, it went off just as our shop teacher walked outside to see us all scatter. I got 4 licks and had to repair the sidewalk. (Imagine if some kid did it today). 3. I spent hours making models of airliners just to light them and trouw them in the air. 4. Hell, just a couple weeks ago I was shootin model rockets at the DZ. We ended up jus holding onto the rocket and lighting the engines by themselves. 5. drop a can of WD-40 into a barrel fire....In about 1 minute, it will explode and make the coolest mushroom cloud.....I=t is even more fun if you can do it on the sly while people are warming around it. I can tell you from experience, about 70% will think it is not funny at all, be prepared to haul ass or just hide in advance. Mike

OK....Im at the DZ and it is sunny....no shit....a few clouds here and there...Goetz road is completely flooded as is the area between the grass and the runway but we could so send a load right now.....only problem....no pilot and Paula, Mikko and I are the only jumpers here. WTFO?

I just bought one yesterday at Square 1.....Brandon showed me how to zero the altimiter and I made 1 jump on it...The time is still wrong because I was on a load in 10 min and then I had to haul ass to get to the Xmas party. It seems like it is well worth 200 bucks....
