  1. I was using contact lenses the soft kind for a lot of time and I had no problem at all. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  2. If there was someting I learned at the canopy school with Scott Miller was that no matter if its a 9 cell or a 7 cell you will get back to the landing area if you know how your canopy works. Yeah a 9 cell might get you a lil bit farther than the 7 cell but the separation wont be that much. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  3. I remember of one of my tunnel practice was to push the coach, hehe I made him work If I could of just brought my hands a lil bit more to the sides.... HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  4. awww thats cute, where can I get one of those sports cars? HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  5. It was on Shock TV, they air almost everything. It was fun looking at that video (after hearing all the BS he said). Most probably is that he did tried to sue, dunno if he won it or no. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  6. If you see him again please tell him I said Happy bday and to remember about DBAG (he will know what I mean). thanks. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  7. its slowest speed, tracking at break up to get separation from the formation. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  8. What has been the slowest fall rate you have made while tracking? I got 87 mph (128ft/sec) (with a head mounted protrack), just want to now if am slower, faster or normal to average. I think I can improve my tracking and make it even slower. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  9. You can't wear your rig but i saw a student of skydive U taking the Tunnel AFF course and they gave the student a dummy gear, looked like a real rig only thing is that it never opens its closed shut. I dunno if it was property of skydive U or if it was property of skyventure. The tunnel AFF student had to check his/her wrist as if he/she was looking at a altimeter and also had to practice the deployment sequence. It was kinda fun to see that she with 0 jumps could make better center turns than some skydiver that have some jumps HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  10. for me it was 6 S/L cause I failed one DRCP, then it was the hop n pop, 10sec, 15sec, 15sec and then altitude. I was good falling stable. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  11. Hey Alex (skydivemonkey or sonic) happy birthday!! so how does it feels to be drunk without worrying about cops taking you to jail cause you were a minor? Happy 21 dork!
  12. are you sure? if am not mistaken AFF is kinda cheaper than S/L progression. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  13. good to add "earth is comming! earth is comming! earth is comming!" another good thing of the tunnel is that you don't have to worry about giving a good presentation to the relative wind, its very easy to do it in the tunnel and wont be loosing to much altitude if don't get it right HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  14. the wind tunnel is amasing, with a good coach you will learn the true meaning of stability. One of the exercises I had to do in the tunnel was swimming while keeping stability kinda hard to do but you get a good information of your body, the other good thing of the tunnel is that you can actually see if your turns are in place or no, you can fix the problems by looking at the mirror, the coach will tell you what you are doing wrong etc. advice: get at least 20 mins of tunnel with coaching if you go to one, is it worth it? yeah it is. It's gonna be about 300$, and if you can get coaching with Rob Laidlaw, after you get his coaching you will know why I said it. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  15. easy get a packer until the slippery wears off HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  16. email the manufacturer of the rig you are buying, nobody is better than the manufacturer to say yes its good, no its bad. I used to put a 150 inside a container sized for a 210 and it was kinda loose but the manufacturer didn't told me anything about it. Just make sure that the closing loop is very tight when you put the small canopy in it. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  17. www.skydivingmovies.com its a ftp site. If you want to buy a good video for training you can get the basic body flight by skydive university www.skydiveU.com, only problem is that its kinda expensive but is worth it. S/L you said?, I think you can't minimize the number of jumps, USPA asks for 20 freefalls and 5 mins of controlled freefall time. S/L are 5 jumps of no freefall and then come the solo of 5 secs. freefall then the 10secs, 15secs. etc. Another thing, you can read and watch all you can of skydiving but you will not learn how to get a stable fall without a couple of jumps or wind tunnel time and its kinda harder to do it if you take the SL progression because you will have to fix the problem (legs, hands, belly, etc) on your own, no instructor will be jumping with you and give hand signals. ADVICE: don't do what you see on videos or pics, do what the instructor tells you to do. DZ.COM ADVICE: take all comments you get here and at any place with a grain of salt, consult everything you read here that interest you with your instructor. Blue skies and welcome to skydive! 18. Hiya Chris, a good resource of what hard openings can do to your body are the canopy manufacturers, I have heard that a lot of test pilots actually loose height cause of the consistent hard openings. A very common thing that happens to me with skydiving are ankle injuries like sprain ankles because of a high flare, a bad running landings or a litle stone in the floor that make me slip, etc. I always keep a cold compress in the fridge for after skydiving, works like a charm HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  19. What you might be doing is getting more glide from the canopy and loosing altitude a bit slower when you do that, you think it makes a big difference but its actually the same as turning to your pattern in full flight a litle earlier. Try it and you will see. The other thing that half brakes does is get a slower vertical speed and its no fun like that HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  20. I am no expert, what you are about to read is the stuff I learned in a canopy controll course and something I added, in the end you will read what was added by me. First advice: get a canopy controll course, I took one because it was included in The Search of skydive U and it was great, you learn a lot of stuff about flying, patterns, landings and how a canopy behaves (ie. with half brakes, 3/4 brakes, 1/4 brakes, etc.) Second Advice: buy Basic Canopy Flight by Skydive University, Inc. it comes with videos, and a lot of info, its included with the course of skydive U but you can get it in a skydiving store (I think, maybe on the skydive U website). Third advice: always fly the pattern downwind when 1000', turn 90° when 500' to do the base leg and then the final entry upwind at 300'. Now here are two things to do to go farther or shorter distance: if you think you will pass and get to far from the landing area, when you get to the final entry do some soft S turns to loose some altitude (CHECK YOUR ALTITUDE when doing that, looking at the ground not the altimeter cause you will be very low and altimeter will not show), If you think you will be to short, you can pull your togles 1/4 down and it will give you a better glide, remember to put your canopy back to full flight 10 seconds before doing the flare. Ok, after you land take all the info you learned from the last jump and use it to your advantage, how? well like this, if you passed the landing area then it means you will need to do your base a bit later (instead of turning when 500' you can do it in 400') or go downwind when 1200' and turn your base at 500' (play with it, remember not to turn to your final entry too low); if you were to short that means you need to turn to the base leg a bit sooner (instead of turning when 500' turn at 600') also play with it. After some jumps doing that you will soon get to the target more consitently and after a while we will see you competing in the Accuracy competitions All the stuff I just said (except for the S turns and the 1/4 brakes) was what Scott Miller said in the canopy course, he said not to do the S or the 1/4 because if you do you will not know how much you needed to correct, but in your case (my non expert opinion) since you said of landing in the runway I added the S turns and 1/4 brakes, but its called sheating disclaimer: I do not get money from skydive U, skydiving stores and/or Scott Miller by talking and/or promoting the stuff they do or sell. 21. same for me. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  22. I was thinking about that too, a latin america skydive U camp but its gonna be way expensive bringing the coaches, renting a plane big enough and giving free beer to the coaches. It is past my bed time and nope, am drinking some nicaragua rum, yesterday got drunk with that white lightning stuff. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  23. I wouldn't say that, read the posts on the thread I linked, its been discussed right now http://www.dropzone.com/forum/Skydiving_C1/Gear_and_Rigging_F6/Line_Stow_Experiment//Hard_openings._P425419/ A friends experience with the sabre he told me that rolling the tail very tight for about 10 times and making sure the slider is all the way up, makes him have the sweetest openings ever. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  24. cheers! Today if you want, just email me the flight number and estimated time and date of arrival and I'll pick you up at the airport, you might get some free jumps by giving skydive U coaching. hey bring Pete he said he wanted to surf. I have 3 free beds and lots of beer! HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  25. yeah you are right, you can't be a gremlin, gremlins are taller than you HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
