At risk of the inevitable responses, what is 'half mooning'?
-
Pic attached this time hopefully...
-
What if the WS flight was done cross-wind, and the measurements were able to factor in wind direction? That way wind speed wouldn't matter. See pic.
-
How are you correcting for wind? I thought a Flysight couldn't get that sort of data. Honest question - I haven't played around with GPSs enough to understand what you're doing here (though I do have some ideas on how to correct for wind).

The top two 'clearest-looking' movies I've seen at the cinema were 2001: A Space Odyssey in 70mm and Blade Runner in 4K projection. They were both in the same cinema but I'm not sure which was better. The 4K did look incredible though.

I saw this thing in a sex shop in Tokyo that you put on your cock and plugged into your DVD player and it got triggered by signals on the disc to vibrate. I think there's a future in that, and not only for wingsuit proximity flying videos.

Interesting. Canopies open by inflation through the nose don't they? If the bottom skin is porous could it be possible that air flowing into the nose has to fight with air being forced through the bottom skin before the canopy inflates?
-
Yeah, thats true. I was merely pointing out that normal HD display wont be able to utilize the 4K resolution, so there is no real point to worry about the video not streaming or playing smoothly. I don't have a 4K display - just trying to figure out if the playback issue is due to my hardware (it pretty much has to be, if it runs smoothly for everyone else). I'll figure it out. I think if there's going to be any use for 4K footage at the moment it will be for cropping in on stuff in the frame. Just wondering because I'd be annoyed if I got a GoPro3 to muck around with the 4K just to see what it will do and then found I had to upgrade some other hardware as well.
-
Switched to different PC with 10mbps DL speed. It loads fine and runs a lot smoother, but it's still not as smooth as 1080p. It's noticing this that made me start wondering about the usefulness of the 4k feature on the new GoPro... ?

This does not play smoothly on my PC - do I need to upgrade my video card?
-
Have you ever used it for other purposes? ....more devious purposes?
-
Well spotted sir - thanks.
-
Thanks - I know I've seen one somewhere in my travels through online gear stores. I will travel to the sacred loft and ask for an audience with the Great Rigger Equal of Heaven. The Prophecy shall be fulfilled. Shall it not come to pass, I will search online, and upon discovering an image of the secret artifact, state the words 'Oh, that's interesting'.

What do you use to test it without pulling the pin?
-
Is it possible to create a hard pull from pin tension alone? Or would pin tension just contribute to other possible problems with the cable, cable housing, to cause a hard pull? Of course varying pin tension will require more or less strength to pull the pin, but what would it take to put enough tension on the pin to cause a catastrophically hard pull? Is it possible to close a reserve (e.g with a leverage device) so tightly that a main pilot chute would not be able to pull the pin - e.g via an RSL/Skyhook when cutting away from a high-speed malfunction like a baglock?
-
Thanks - that's interesting stuff!

Cooool.

All I have to say is that it would be better to argue over some Flysight data than the camera's perspective in a video.... ?
-
That footage is insane.
-
But now we can shoot at higher than 1080, do image stabilisation in post-production, and crop the image back to 1080...
-
I think he's right though - I've been following these occasionally interesting arguments, and it's never been a source of controversy that a wingsuit can gain altitude after a dive. Wasn't the idea of the whole race that it was a race? If so, wouldn't everyone have been flying a bit steeper to gain speed? Of course when they flare out they're going to get some lift. I do think though that part of the effect on video is from them turning right after passing the cables. More importantly though, the event looked awesome, the footage was awesome, and wingsuits are just fucking awesome.

Thanks! But what's wrong with short stows? I thought long stows were more of an issue - if one of the lines in a stow loops over a bunch in another stow I figure that can cause a bag lock...?
