As mentioned above all it looks like you needed to do was call the DZ and this could have been resolved. Now you called into question a Riggers integrity, looks to me like you owe him a public apology! Totally agree ! And I would make note for future occurences anywhere that perhaps the 'company' involved should do everything they can to get the word out that said customer should contact them immediately. Not saying that did not happen in this instance.

looks to me like that 'student' does a perfect pull of an old school ripcord like he did years ago, but it doesnt work of course. then he kind of gives up completely... on surviving !! WTF ???? also looks like he fell from the plane, as opposed to doing any kind of aircraft exit. I cannot believe the videos that show people 'waiting' for the AAD to fire !

if you've had chronic severe extreme pain you would 'get it.' I have had it, wouldnt wish it on anyone. No I didnt get into those really strong painkillers, fortunately.

In the day a quick exit at 2 grand would not be a huge deal.... but now it would sure

I see the point... I have studied this and thought about it a lot, for a long long time... Pretend we just now wanted to start a space flight program and had no experience... and build up to a lunar landing ?? or build a space shuttle at some point ??? Holy cow !! I dont see success for that scenario.... or maybe... we could do some of that stuff, but with great great difficulty. ( way more than the guys in the 60's and 70's had. )

I had a Thunderbow,, not bad I guess, it was okay. Then a long line PC which I really liked, great landings, easy to pack in a POD, got a Papillon as extra canopy and for ( seldom ) accuracy type jumps. I thought the Pap landed harder, flew slower, and took much more care to pack. IMO. Then I was a Strato Star dealer and thought I was in heaven ( er, so to speak ).. and everyone got sick of hearing me talk about how great they REALLY TRULY WERE !!! ha ha !!! hey, I sold a lot of Strato Stars and never heard much complaining !!!!

inspired you ? what about Ripcord TV show ??? it was great, in it's day.

the early squares had a pilot chute controlled reefing system, most of them. Clouds opened not too horribly hard... then Strato Stars opened quite nicely... with a big long bridle cord that you young folks wouldnt believe !!!! ha ha !!!

PC's were indeed pretty reliable.. some guys seemed to have PC's that would malfunction periodically, maybe it wasnt the canopy, you know? but wow were PC's way better than surplus canopies, for me it was T-10's ! ouch, some hard landings in the wind.

great memories indeed, Jimmy. the silence, peace, beauty on those PC's. in Oklahoma we opened way upwind, backed up rapidly towards the airport, turned a 180 to run into the landing area, followed by a 180 hook turn to a very soft standup (sometimes cutting away one capewell, indeed !! it all sounds funny but we thought it was all normal procedure,, ha ha !!!! is that a tri conical reserve ? I saw my buddy get a total inversion on that.. scared him out of his wits for a few seconds. Just fyi !!! If it is reefed, well, I personally prefer that, a lot !!!

people shouldnt do that. I carry and I cant even fathom doing such a thing. just cause someone disses you, blow him away ?? come on.. give me a break. used to be,, parents and ministers would teach us better than that.

I was thinking the same,, that you could get a really big surprise when you HAD to pull it !!! -
Electra............... looks much like Amelia's plane, does it not ???

One guy in particular would bring his rig to the DZ ready to go, then get nervous and unpack his wing and repack it before jumping !! ha ha !!! go figure !!
-
great pics, and memories.. I never jumped one but I wanted to. By the time I had enough jumps they were mostly stored away in closets by then !!! But they looked great ( the jumpers were always pretty nervous about the not great reliability though ! )

great memories.. long line PC's were darn good, even for big guys.. got any video ?? :)

we do it to our own troops in training........ none of them claimed to have been tortured by our own guys.

it will be great, like this !!! http://www.vimeo.com/4712582 -
jeannie wrote back to me twice about some Security gear ( she was a dealer ) while I was stationed in Germany ( US Army). I met her later in Tahlequah and I thought highly of her and her jump history. very sad to hear of her accident at the time.. ( as I well recall the story she couldnt get her main out and never went for reserve )> :( a funny story is that I sent her a money order for a Security Lopo 26' conical and she later wrote me 'in a panic' that she lost the money order !!! I got the money back okay and found a navy conical instead.... thanks to my trusty Strato Star that was one reserve that I never had to use. :)

Will California Liberals be to stoned to vote Nov 2nd?
dks13827 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
moderates are neither for nor against anything, eh? e.g. one is either for or against the US Constitution. if not for it,, it does not exist. kind of sad, IMO. -
I did jump with her a time or 2, in Tahlequah, maybe in Texas also, and / or Deland. It was pretty cool as she was a National champion and I was just a dumb 80 jump rookie. :)

I bet her patients and friends would all say..... 'she used to be a champion what !!!!?????? ' Susan E. Hunter-Joerns, MD Neurology Susan E.Hunter-Joerns, MD 2205 N.
