I am convinced that some number of no pulls are 'fixation', 'zone out', 'spaced out', whatever term you like. Have not we all snapped to attention while driving ?? And saying to oneself.. gee.. I was out of it for a few moments !!! Some folks break away on a 10 way and track until impact. Suicide ? sure, maybe ..... zone out ??? very possible.

Humans are violent, always have been. Most of us here in the U.S., however, are quite able to control the urge to do unspeakable things to other people.

I recall reading that accident report.... it seems that Brooke may have set the Cypress at home before going to the DZ. Or maybe she can sue the maker of the soft, velcroed reserve handle !!!

a buddy of mine had a 23' tri con invert on him in Germany,,,,,,,,,,,,, scary stuff.... totally scary. It was SP 4 Ken Larcher, US Army. He lives in OKC now.

a conical reserve in action !!!!

Forgive me, but are you for real ? I suggest you go hang at the DZ for most of a day, not jumping. Watch, listen, learn, and sure, ask questions !!! Most jumpers like that, as long as they are not in the middle of something. :)

Poll: What Reserve Handle: Ring / Soft /Other
dks13827 replied to fcajump's topic in Gear and Rigging
way back, there were ripcord stops, as most have indeed heard of. After all too many fatal accidents, folks finally said, okay, okay, I get it...... not worth the risk !!! :( -
Landing a plane vs landing a parachute
dks13827 replied to gofast_ER's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Boy do I agree with 'scary ' !!! ( seems like some folks also say,, 'well I have an AAD !!'. As far as an emergency bailout; 1. an engine failure at night might be a good reason. 2. a failure over absolutely horrible terrain ( forests ) I only recall seeing that on a flight from Las Vegas to Reno, I definately was thinking... dont want an engine failure right now !!! ha !!! Of course, I've never worn a parachute while flying a light plane. -
the bomb(s) ended a terrible war, the Allies won, thank God, and it stopped the bloodshed.

Canadian CF-18 low altitude bailout (pics & video)
dks13827 replied to pchapman's topic in The Bonfire
I heard that possibly he didnt have correct flaps set... and that he was dragged badly and knocked out during that. Bummer !! but he is still here, though. -
well, Neil Armstrong can vouch for the C-9 ! from low altitude ejection, too !!!

Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy,,, my Strato Star was super, I was the biggest guy at my DZ with one, 180 lbs, loved it !! In OK there was always some wind to help make nice landings !!

in the US we can get accidental death coverage at a fair price. It doesnt cover death from an illness so that requires another policy. Good luck.

your jumps look pretty good, way to go. Keep up the good work and have fun ! :)

Apollo entrenched my ambitions to be a jumper and a pilot, it has been wonderful............ sadly, Nasa's future looks not too good, to say the least. Something unimagineable 41 years ago tonight. Cheers to the many people who devoted much of their lives to the Apollo program, and other programs.

Since the crew would be in couches on their backs, it is not too horrible for a short duration. I am sure it is not fun, however.

beginners morbid curiosity - main chute malfunction
dks13827 replied to alp27's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
cutaway for fun ? well, not many do that. I would not suggest that unless you are experienced and have the proper 3 chute setup. I practiced so many times in my mind that when I had to, hey, it was a no brainer, so to speak. -
I recently saw a mobster show about how bad it goes for their enemies. Accordingly, 2 nights later I dreamed these Columbian drug guys captured me (hey, I really DON"T know why ) taped me all up and said... you die slowly !! ( I knew that ). Then finally they said.. 'we take you up in our plane and throw you out !!! " ( and I smiled to myself and thought,, hey, that's really not too bad !!)

So, All this Outrage Over Arizona's New Law, yet...
dks13827 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
the intent of the law ( and the result, IMO ) is so cops can take action after illegals have run over your kid or t-boned you in your car. And that's really what the deal is. Dave in Phoenix -
yes to reiterate... try to reinstate it.... buy more at work... or get a pilot medical (one time ) and contact AOPA and / or Minnesota Mutual term policies and that should work. or you can lie and hope you dont bounce for 2 years !

Glad you loved your first jump, that is normal !!!
