  1. Inserting a wine cork, or glueing swimming pool noodle works great (weights nothing and closes the 'hole').
  2. Wings has all three of these features, as well.
  3. I would call it a (factory) quality control failure...
  4. Weren't the first plastic PVC handles all orange? I think it was a standard color for few decades. Nice read from Bill Booth here!: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1932397#1932397
  5. Correct. I only saw it digging thru their Facebook page. Even more 'unknown' options there (like two choices of legstrap non-slip hardware): https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.188825226148.128358.64761516148&type=3
  6. Vector does offer cut-in laterals, maybe they call it differently. They offer it in two versions: https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t31/1276208_10151717610651149_370246045_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/476192_10150623382401149_1545522433_o.jpg
  7. I also couldn't find it on their website, that is why I posted the full manual first. Then, I used Google and found this small PDF that way.
  8. Did you leave any SLACK in the bridle, above the pin? If yes, then how many inches? The method that you are talking about was used on millions of jumps over the last 20 years on Vectors 3's with no issues (until pierced bridles during the last few years).
  9. This is a seperate PDF document on the alternative closing method: http://unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Support/Sport/ALTERNATIVE_MAIN_CONTAINER_CLOSING_TIP_INSTRUCT-027_Rev-0.pdf
  10. See page 68: http://unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Support/Manual/MAN_004___Vector_3_Manual_07_44_13%5B1%5D.pdf
  11. Bill, the DRD MARD does use Collins Lanyard. Scroll down the page, here: http://sws.aero/en/products/fire/features/drd/
  12. Not sure about the NEXT, but UPT did license Skyhook to Czech 'Mars' company.
  13. Where is it used (the one you attached)?
  14. It is huge!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4nux94wupE

  16. More details: - TSO'ed MARD - Semi eliptical reserve INFO: https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/1490620_699016166783860_2146660263_o.jpg
  17. Even better result and less sweating if you put those in the opposite order.
  18. Physics professor and skydiver with thousands of jumps, John Kallend, wrote here on DZ.com that you will "become one with the (horizontal) wind" only after 8 seconds in freefall. So, if the horizontal wind is 40 mph, then you will be moving 40 mph (in freefall) against the ground, only after 8 seconds.
  19. Looks like it. Doing it at sea level (where the air is denser) will help. But, the air temperature cannot be too high...
  20. I would say "No". I own I-45, and had Spectre 190 with Microlines in there (normal fit), and now have Spectre 190 with Dacron lines (tight fit). 150 would be too loose in my opinion. Aslo, keep in mind that the Infinity main closing loop's location does NOT allow for a lot of downsizing...
  21. Well, this fatal accident happened on Javelin, and would not have happened on Vector 3...: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4267089#4267089
  22. Weren't some Strong tandem reserves a 9-cell reserves?
  23. Another theoretical advantage of loop-cutting AAD instead of a pin-puller AAD is the broken pin scenario. But again, has that ever happened...?
