  1. What was the mal? The lanyard breaks (on purpose) at approx 400 lbs: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3439894;search_string=lanyard%20skyhook%20lbs;#3439894 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2026602;search_string=lanyard%20skyhook%20lbs;#2026602
  2. But if the reserve pin is bent, it will not be able to pull, correct? (has this ever happened to such extend, though...?). How many pounds of force are generated with the "pull"?
  3. John, What about this reserve PC? (attached are two photos). More: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=476690#476690 and http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1555332#1555332

  6. Since it's not an isolated 'situation' (more than one video exists) - then it IS a Wings issue, granted this may not be only a Wings issue ~ but there IS video documentation showing that it's not a one time - one rig anomaly. It's not playing with semantics to say that some Wings containers have recently had a documented reserve hesitation problem. I witnessed (from under my canopy) my friend's cutaway. He jumps Wings. After a cutaway from a lineover, he was in the perfectly upright position (like standing up). RSL activated the reserve. He towed the reserve PC (at full bridle stretch) for approximately two seconds...
  7. Something kind of close to the topic: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1900460#1900460
  8. 99% of opening worldwide are NOT controled by Speedbag, and therefore Dacron CAN come handy! http://performancedesigns.com/faq.asp#8 The question is: have you packed a deliberate line-dump and measured forces in such scenario (with Spectra and Dacron)???

  11. How did it kill people? "The RSL system on Vectors is different from that on other container systems. It is designed NOT to damage your reserve ripcord cable. The velcro attaching the RSL lanyard to the top reserve flap is designed to allow the RSL pin to rotate when you pull the reserve handle so that the pin will not jam against the ripcord housing. On Vector 3's this tab is a double velcro sandwich that almost always allows this rotation to take place. As noted, even if the RSL pin doesn't rotate out of the reserve ripcord end piece, there is no negative effect on the reserve container opening." http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1010403;search_string=velcro%20rsl%20pin;#1010403

  20. It might be, but then you have to deal with cable routing and closing the visor (if using fullface). The flashing option is like $50 more and then you have to buy the flashing device (LCD or LED) which is like another $50.
  21. True! Winter neoprene scuba gloves! With 'rough' surface (for sure grip, non-slip). They are great!!!
  22. Pick ONLY the canopies that offer Dacron lines. A slammer can always happen... My choice? Spectre 190, Dacron lines, one size larger slider than normal (= 26x31 inches with custom brass slider grommets), 30-inch F-111 politchute. 7-second openings, on average. About Dacron: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4448401;search_string=dacron%20%25;#4448401
  23. Rubber gloves OVER regular gloves, therefore you will not sweat and will created a 'warm bubble'.
