Hi all I have just picked up a icarus alpha 115 in good condition with about 1200 jumps and packing it is like packing my f111 falcon. Has this canopy already lost a lot of its efficiency and how many jumps can you expect to put on a canopy. Thanks in advance Paul

Ditto AMERICAS ARMY I have been ranked 1st and am currently ranked around 50. player name RYTHMNSTEALTH BATTLEFIELD 1942 online multiplayer is the best game EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You can use any vehicles jeeps, tanks, apcs, planes, battleships, aircraftcarriers, submarines etc. You can have up to 64 players online at the same time YOU CAN EVEN SKYDIVE OUT OF THE PLANES. I have gone to max height done a massive freefall tracked across the whole map and dumped at tree level (20ft) and then shot a guy under canopy. I have also done my BSE in BASE on this game. The b was the 4th or 5th level of a ruined building in berlin. The S and E were bridges and clffs at gazala Africa.Cant find any A's in the game (OH SHIT I HOPE I DIDNT NAME ANY SITES)lol I have been working on my two ways with a friend flying a side by side in a spitfire then we both bail out but when ever we face each other we just track strait past so we are stuck to tracking jumps. Check it outhttp://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield1942/home.jsp Paul

Same thing happend at a boogie i recently attended with a b rel student grabbing the wrong rig that also contained a stilleto 97. I think she had around 60 to 80 jumps and should have been using the student rig with a 240.

Did a Mr Bill from height with another Mr Bill out straight after us. We then flew side by side and droped a 2way. We were out the back of the van using 220 mantas or furys or something cant remember. It did take a couple of attempts though. Our next plan is to launch a triple Mr Bill with two people hanging on then dropping off to another Mr Bill.

Have you considered the new TALON 3 FS ? It has to be one of the best rigs i have seen. Parachutes Australia were making the TALON 3 and the VOODOO but then discontinued the VOODOO when the FS came out. One thing i have noticed about the Voodoo is it doesn't take different size canopys as well as other rigs. Small canopys leave the container bunched up in places although it is still a great rig.

I used to jump a falcon 175 that had at least 600 jumps on it. My estimation would be closer to 800 jumps although i would not be surprised if it had 1000. I knew the canopy was very porous and fabric was very worn (it even had many holes and patches) and in the end i stopped jumping it because i was scared i would blow one of the cells. However my friend now uses it for CRW in his spare rig. This falcon always had a "mushy flare" in the 100 or so jumps i put on it so i would always build up speed with either double fronts or 180 front on landing which would put me down nice and soft. (I AM NOT telling you to hook it just telling you what happened to me) With 300/350 jumps on your canopy you can put another couple of hundred jumps on it and then you will be ready for a smaller (150-170zp) and still be able to sell the falcon.

The cypres is harder to turn off then on. The time frame for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th press is shorter in the off cycle compared to the on cycle. So to turn it off you have to press the button precisely at the right moment. I still cant turn mine off but like everyone said it is better for battery power if you let the unit shut down itself.

High Performace Canopies LOW JUMP NUMBERS!!!!!

[My first square canopy was an HP eliptical that I took on at just 17 jumps on squaresquote] Your first square canopy was elipitical ????? -
How many jumps are on the canopy? It may be time for a reline. Like jceman said you might have to much speed during opening make sure you bleed it off before you dump. Does it have the right size slider? Check it and call icarus to make sure it is the right one. If all else fails i would speak to icarus and get them to check the canopy you may also be able to get a larger than normal slider but i would speak to them about it. In the 100 jumps i have put on my safire 139 i have not had 1 hard opening, they have all been very sweat. My packing has not been the best and it has still treated me nice. I do not roll the nose or use any techniques to slow it down like i would on the sabre.

I Did my first camera jumps this weekend with my side mounted JVC on a invertigo x helmet. I have not swapped my ditter from my other helmet although i will before i jump again. On most of the jumps i tried to film everyone opening while tracking away on my back and being so engrossed in trying to get a good shot i lost height awareness and ended up low. On the last jump i deployed at 1500ft hanging in my harness at 1000ft (oh shit) wont do that again. Anyway to the point I will be mainly using it for freeflying and would like to get a few opinions on ringsights. Should i be using one ? Or should i just get use to the helmet without it ? Most the freeflyers at my dz don't use one. Also i do not have a chin cup and would like to know a couple of things about them. Are they just for security (to hold helmet on) or do they stop camera shake (from helmet moving)as well. I know this has been brought up before but i cant seem to get my answer through searching the forum. Any opinions appreciated.

I have seen a very experienced jumper who packs his own reserve bail out at 750ft in a non emergency situation

are these maximum 'recommended' wingloadings the optimum amount to load these canopies? Not to say you have to load these canopies that high, as we all know you dont. But is this the point where the wing is most efficient and with any higher loading it drops off?

advice needed please - 1st rig-South African gear?
pal replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have an old "classic Tear Drop" container that has velcro. I got it very cheap and it has done me very well. I have been using it for free flying and have had no problems. If it saves you money and gets you in the air GO FOR IT! -
THANKS everyone for the great advice ! I have been using these techniques with much better landings. Seems i was flaring too late and stabbing it to hard. Also turns out the brake lines were to short even though they were exact to manafactures specifications. Got an extra 10cm added which has seemed to fix my problem and i can use my front risers with out the canopy bucking.
