Attack of the CRW clones?
-
well this is laughable....... so i take the files into work this morning on a portable hard drive and try to import them there. no such luck. they won't import at all (the avis). says "unsupported compression". I'm thinking it can't be a codec problem because the comp will play them with media player...... a suggestion on an online forum says "rename the .avi to .mpg, so I do that and try inporting again. this time it imports it but doesn't recognize it as a video file, just imports the audio. so now I have what I was originally after, a workable audio track, but no video. this crap is giving me a headache
-
you! you're a fucking nut job and you! you're a fucking nut job too! and you! well......... you're canadian.... but don't encourage those two fucking nut jobs! oh, and if you think you're safe filming crw when the shit hits the fan, I've got a video to show you
-
actually, I had done that. the waveform for the audio is simply flat. In fact, when I exported the project as an .m2v and a .wav it made a giant, silent .wav file anyway, I tried the previous suggestion of ripping the audio from the .avi using virtualdub (actually used virtualdubmod) and that seems to have worked. at least I now have a viable audio file in my timeline. premier is exporting to dvd now so we'll see. what a collosal pain in the ass though! ripping the audio made a file that wasn't quite identical in duration to the video so it took a little tweaking to sync them back up. I wish I knew if I was buggering a setting in premier or something. I've never had any trouble capturing audio from my dv tapes at all, just this .avi
-
unfortunately the project and files are at home and i'm at work now. i remember the audio properties of the .avi file are 48khz compressed if thats what you're asking. negative on the nvidia stuff
-
anyone familiar with importing .avi files into Premier I'm having trouble with the audio everything I've read says that the audio should be conformed when imported but my audio tracks on the timeline are flat. any exporting i've done has been silent if i play the sequence in the project window (itty bitty little window) i get audio, but the monitor window will not play audio any ideas/suggestions ? btw using premier pro 1.5 thanks

It's good to let the pilot know that you're closing the door. A fast descent with the pilot's window open, and the jump door closed, can lead to having the jump door blown out possibly damaging the tail. It's happened before

Say... what year is that there mo-sheen? Gonna go do a hop-n-pop and see if I can spot that crazy canadian's confidence from the plane. (was just listening to that yesterday)
-
I'll come out there with ya tomorrow. If you go first, so you get to watch me, that should be a real confidence booster right there. Seriously, sounds like your being a head-case right now and there ain't no way around that short of stopping it. IOW swooping takes 100% concentration on the task at hand. Any thoughts about how you screwed up, or might screw up again, or what hot chick is gonna laugh at you, have zero place in your head while you're swooping. At best it's going to make you screw up again. At worst, it's going to get you hurt. Maybe make a couple of freefall jumps and forget about the swoop course for a bit? That'd probably clear my head and work for me.

and that brings it back on topic. I was starting to worry that we were simply going to gloss over my unfounded allegations. There's simply no way that that swoop was an "unenhanced human" performance. At first, I accused him of being an animal, but after speaking to Canseco, everything just seemed to fall in to place. Any attempts at denial just serve to strengthen my conviction of his guilt.
-
I believe that any such entry in the record books should have an asterisk next to it. I spoke to Jose Canseco and he claims Grant and himself used to shoot each other up with steroids in bathroom stalls. I would encourage everyone to contact their senator and request that congress look into the matter of steroid abuse in the sport of canopy swooping. While we're on the subject of asterisks, I would also like one added next to my name in the standings to reflect the presence of a large and cumbersome cast on my left leg. I'm actively seeking an excuse for the next competition... if anyone has any ideas please let me know

I have risers made from the wider webbing but still constructed with the smaller rings. I'm no rigger, but this set-up has been tested under fire (read "wrap cutaway")

Colorado CPC Event # 1 Results
teamhypoxia replied to swoopster33's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
My ass hurts, my legs hurt, and my pride was mortally wounded I think. Of course, all injuries are directly related to being an un-current, out of shape slob. Hopefully that won't hold true all season Oh, and I finally got to meet this Spizzzarco guy. If he was just a little bit cooler, he'd be a dick. -

And here's the crazy Canadian with his look of fierce determination, or consternation, or constipation, or something. -

Here's a picture for ya Jason You know, if your tongue didn't keep falling out of your head, it might reduce your drag -
that's why my CRW rig has large rings on the harness and all my risers have small rings. makes me a universal donor and/or recipient

CReW Camera: Cross Connector/Stirrup Question
teamhypoxia replied to CJK's topic in Canopy Relative Work
I've tried it. as have a few others I know. I found myself wanting an attachment at my chest strap or something that the webbing could run through to keep it more vertical. it had a tendency to put me back into a recliner position. I also found it hard to "throttle". Either front riser for full effect, or none at all. I think Brian Scott has used it with more success than me. -
Effects of altitude on swooping
teamhypoxia replied to teamhypoxia's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
February's Skydiving magazine mentions the largest swoop pond in the world to be built at Mile Hi Skydiving in Colorado. This DZ has a field elevation of approximately 5000ft msl. I'm curious as to opinions on the effects of altitude on swooping. From my purely unscientific observations, it feels like I swoop for a longer period of time at sea level, but at a slower speed across the ground. Will the thinner air provide more speed but less lift? Will the effects cancel each other out in terms of distance? Will the optimum wing loading on a certain canopy change? I bet we could see speed records broken at this elevation, but what about distance? Thoughts? -
those are some of my favorite books! I'm sure I'll be hugely disappointed by the movie....... but I'll still go see it

2005 Canopy Formation World Record Announcement
teamhypoxia replied to remko's topic in Canopy Relative Work
kind of a shame that the original website with photos and stuff about 2003's record can no longer be viewed. still.... very exciting to think about a new record! -
actually, that's what made me ask the question. I didn't figure the video card would be critical for editing, but their "list" made me wonder
