  4. But a tandem (Vector for sure, never looked into any others) can be converted for student use. It has been done and there are procedures in place. "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  5. So why aren't you spotting while the light is red? Check for aircraft and general location, first and last out will never have the ideal spot. Just the nature of large turbines. "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  6. I've been getting the itch lately to learn paragliding. This is the only place I could find around for a school, http://www.atlantaparagliding.com/index.html I know there are some paraglider pilots around here, so what do you guys make of this place? Does it look proper and legit? Any other suggestions? "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  7. Hate to step on your toes SM, but a tandem sure does count towards your license... meaning he only needs 24 more jumps, along with all the other requirements. To the op, best source of information on what you'll be learning... http://www.uspa.org/SIM/Read/Section4/tabid/166/Default.aspx Your AFF should be well structured through Category A-E and then you'll receive coaching and practice for Cat F-H. 8. did a 5 way nekkid dive at the Farm last weekend... "Damn you Gravity, you win again"

  10. I hear it's a Good Caravan, not really a Grand one "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  11. Yes the velcro was an analogy, as 10lbs was sufficient to release the freebag when pulled from an angle. Yet I believe 20lbs was not sufficient when lifting the rig from the bridle.... and the PD143R is the smaller recommended size of reserve for the OJ container. I'll be showing the owner of the rig and speaking with sunpath about it personally. "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  12. What deos it mean to flip through your risers? Like he actually did a flip right over them? Why would someone do something like that? What would be the point? Are you really a skydiver, asking what the point of someone doing something you don't understand ... don't get me wrong, not saying it's a good idea, but the only person he endangered was himself. "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  13. My concern wasn't the amount it took while the rig was anchored, I understand the staging concept. However, while I lifted the rig from the ground and bounced it up and down a little... I believe the force to be greater than 20lbs (only guessing from the weight of the rig plus a little bit extra force) I guess the way to explain it is pulling vs shearing force on velcro. I should have taken pictures If someone was in a feet to earth reserve deployment, would this added extraction force be cause for a concerning hesitation... or am I not as smart as I think I am "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  14. I'll let people smarter than me interpret the data: Just opened a Javelin container size OJ with a Spectre 150 main and PDR143 reserve. Also Has a Cypres1. Wearing the rig with the main still packed, received about 7 feet of launch. Tried jumping up and down a few times but the freebag remained inside the container. Placed the container on the ground and pulled on the bridle. The whole rig lifted off the ground, I bounced it a little and the freebag still remained seated. Not until I placed my foot on the harness did it unseat, however it did not require more than ~8-10 lbs of force. I believe that once I anchored the harness to the floor it allowed the bridal to pull at a different angle, which then unseated the freebag from the container. "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
  15. I see, now that we've met in person you'll come up with any excuse to not be where I am Just to help you out, don't go to The Farm next weekend either "Damn you Gravity, you win again"

  24. Tire blowout in Wyoming just hours after I left Utah for Alabama... Traded a bottle of scotch to a body shop for some help and the headlight, put some new tires on, and finished the trip (in 2 days). Unloaded everything into my new apartment and left for the Memorial Day Beach Boogie at Emerald Coast Skydiving Center. The bungee and safety wire that the body shop provided had broke about a thousand miles into the trip soI replaced with a cargo strap and have been going strong for 2 years. (I recently zip tied a left front turn signal on to satisfy the military police ) "Damn you Gravity, you win again"

ETA: You can't see the cargo strap the is holding down the hood "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
