Ok, so earlier today i'm at work and its getting close to quittin time. I'm a little bored so I go and check out the mensa site to see what the organization is all about. I'm cruisin around the site and see the "mensa workout" which anyone can take. They give you a little quiz to take and you kind of gauge yourself if you're unsure if you would qualify to get into the group. So I figure, what the heck and check it out. Its not too bad, you know some geometry, basic algebra, pattern recognition, etc. I get down to around the 15th question and it is a word scramble. the letters are: H C P R A A T E U. I am a little stumped. Ok, I look at it for a minute or so and skip over it. (theres a 30 minute time limit) Plus its the end of the work week and the ADD is kicking in a little too so I don't feel like thinking about it for too long... (excuses, excuses) When you're done you submit your answers and it tells you what you got wrong and gives you the right answers. Since I left that one blank it gave me the answer. You know what it was? PARACHUTE!!!!!! I thought to myself, "Are you f*cking kidding me?!!???!?!?!!" I'm ashamed that I didn't recognize that one immediately. Now every time I throw out and get a canopy over my head I'm gonna think....Mensa; parachute; i'm a dumbass!!! Anyway, I hope someone was entertained from this little story... I'm not sure if you are infering this about Outrager or not, but if you are, let me tell you that this is the EXACT OPPOSITE from how he is. I am a newbie to the sport and have had the pleasure of GCing for him and some others in the DC/MD crew and he is extremely accepting of newbies and an all around nice guy willing to share any info that anyone might ask for. So, my roomate and I broke out his original Nintendo. We have been playing Mike Tyson's punchout and its been pretty cool. We started playing Mario 3 but I am having trouble remembering any of the secrets past the second world (desert world). Anyone playing this? Any secrets anyone might remember? It will show an error at the end of the self test like councilman24 said and not a 0... edited to say: I suggest that you read the manual for each piece of your skydiving gear. When I wear a full-face (occasionally in the winter) I still put goggles on underneath as a precaution (plus they're tinted so its not so bright) just to make sure I don't lose a contact. I have seen a few face shields come off in freefall and I have left the plane with mine up as well (but closed it just after exit) a few times so goggles is a good backup for me... Thanks Bryan! And thanks again for letting me tag along and help out. GC was fun! I really enjoyed seeing how it all goes down after hanging out the other week. Being sneaky was half the fun! Glad I was a mischevious kid who had plenty of practice sneaking around at night. And yes, shorts and tall grass/biting bugs don't mix so it will be long pants all the way from here! Except for the hips, right? I'm thinking about the hips here too. When I try (edited to add emphasis) to (flat) back-track, my hips tend to want to bend and its more stable when they do. I think back tracking is something that takes alot of practice to balance to where it can be as effective as a belly track. Plus, on most every skydive there is much more belly tracking than back tracking going on so its practiced and perfected more for each jumper. I'm a pretty low-timer newbie type so keep that in mind. I agree 100% with this. Also, as far as awards like RW (such as falcon, eagle, etc), I don't subscribe to them. I have qualified to get one of them but I didn't send in the paper and get it. Jumping to me is not about getting awards. Thats fine if thats your thing, but I am not going to send in for awards. I don't jump to get awards and at this point I don't care if I don't get on the "hot" jumps. I don't think I ever will. Anyway, thats my worthless point of view...
