  1. I'm fairly new, almost 200 jumps now. This is my take. A good skydiver follows what his instructors tell him. You should follow the DZ rules. Accept the fact that its a high risk evolution and respect. Jumping solo is fairly boring. 60 seconds of "is this over yet?" If they are not an instructor, take what they say with a gain of salt because they are not your instructor. Your instructor will teach you to be safe, to survive and to not hurt others. Skydivers come in all shapes and sizes. Being big or small does not help you. Being flexible would help with your arch. Strength may factor your riser turns but stamina may be more important when you have to stay in a particular form. Go slow, advance slowly and don't downsize quickly. Buy used gear, helmet altimeter suit should be your first purchases. A used rig with the appropriate sized Canopy for your weight over how cool something looks - that will get you killed - is a better choice. Look around and see if you can find a wind tunnel and go spend 15 minutes there. They will help you get stable, turns, and some are geared to AFF so they can show you pull procedures. 250$ usd in a tunnel is cheaper than an AFF failure or repeat. You can watch the uspa golden knights YouTube videos if you want to know what to expect. Follow your instructors, be humble and get your a license. Best of luck to you. 2. As per my discussion with RI, RI does not recommend using a skytie or similar slider stows attached to the reserve flap. Just call them because we are all giving you second hand knowledge. You can also facebook them and Angela will answer quickly. Adam If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  3. I have been jumping in Dubai 3 times. I will tell you that when you check in they give you an awesome welcome and DZ brief. They explain all aspects of jumping there. Direction, winds, temp, safety which make you feel safe. I have jumped all over the us. I have checked in and been told next load is up in 5 if you want on. Asking questions got a dirty look from the instructor. Dubai is expensive if you stay in the wrong places. It costs me 530 usd to fly from Bahrain, rent a car and a hotel for 4 days. A jump ticket is 32$ at the desert. Rental gear is currently on special. If you haven't been to Dubai don't knock it. Each experience for each person is different. If you go in with an attitude and don't follow the rules then ya, they ask you to leave. Be advised with the temps and the desert environment a student is going to sit a while because of winds! iFly Dubai

It is in the middle of the Playnation @ MIRDIF mall. It is not too bad. The Instructors that are there are pretty good. They have a special going on where you can buy an hour for 700ish USD for First Time flyers. First time = First time at IFLY DUBAI. They do not have a selection of gear. Everyone gets the same suit and the same helmet. If you want to fullface you need to bring it. There are a few different instructors there. I do not remember his name but the black guy is the most friendly and one of the better fliers. The guy who gave me lessons I felt was not a great teacher. I wasnt getting some of the things that he was saying and it seemed that he was making fun of me rather than helping. I spent 15 minutes and the first 2 flights I didnt get a lot of help. Then every 2 flights they shut the tunnel down and I got a lot of instruction which helped me better. At first he just kept making some pretty stupid movements. It is a small tunnel but powerful enough to do vertical. Have fun. If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  5. No further development going on with the wind tunnel in Va Beach. There is a developer, the city council approved a tunnel, but the land has not been given to the developer. The city owns the land. If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  6. I have a Sabre2, sporty when I want it to be, great openings, and generally a good resale value when it's time to downsize. PD has a ton of videos on their YouTube channel about their canopies. If I changed anything right now, I might have gotten a Pulse. I love my SA2 it's a great canopy for how I fly and the 170 will be great for 500jumps. 7. Email Chutingstar, mike will take care of you. Great man to do business with. If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  8. Does it come with complimentary Russian hookers? Thanks all, appreciate the advice. Looking around at everything I am prolly going to have to spend 250$ on a hotel. Which is my budget, I am just trying to get in the right area If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  9. My personal opinion on a jumpsuit is yes. Like another said it is a tool. I have seen many jumpers who cannot fly well jumping in shorts and tee's. I have seen similar jumpers with jumpsuits fly a little better. I wouldn't spend too much on an initial suit. You are going to crash and slide and get dirty. No sense in spending too much money when you can get an off the shelf from many companies for 250. At my dropzone you can just wear a jumpsuit that they have on the racks. I personally feel that I fly a little cleaner with a jumpsuit than without. Big props to Bigun for helping out.!~ Adam If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  10. Hey all, Getting ready to book a trip out of Bahrain to Dubai. I plan on getting in 30-40 jumps out at SD-2. What area/hotel would be good to stay in? I would like to do this cheap because I am going to be spending a bunch of money. I also would love to get out for a night of nightlife so I am not sure where to stay. I would appreciate any information. Adam If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  11. Awesome. I have low numbers and I am concerned about things so I always consult the manufacturer for correct information. I consider my skydiving rig life saving gear! Adam If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  12. Talk to the DZ they may let you take it home and wash it. Especially if you pay upfront for follow on jumps after cat A If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  13. What type of Rig are you getting? I purchased mine from Chutingstar and Mike sent me an expensive backpack to try out! If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  14. I have a Saber2 170. It opens slowly and I have found that it opens nearly identical every time. Bad body position seems to cause it to open off heading. I have had very consistent openings with it. The end cells are nearly always collapsed but it responds well to riser turns even though and and a quick flare with the rises opens them right up. The canopy is zippy and fun to play with. It is my first Canopy so you have to get used to the landings. I find that it likes to glide rather than flare but I like it. Sorry that I do not have a lot of input on the choice but like mine. It is way better than whatever I used for a student canopy!! I have over 100 jumps on my Saber2. 15. That would be a great addition actually. Perhaps better than a forum because it could be categorized. Thank you, Adam If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  16. I frequent many sites for my other hobies and there is generally a wanted forum for The classifieds. Now playing Devil's Advocate I know that if you have something to sell you will make a classified in the appropriate section, but sometimes we have extra gear laying around that we may or may not sell. I think it might be something nice to have as a way of looking for items rather than posting an add in the classified sections. Thanks, Adam If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  17. I am the boss. I told my guys Skydiving is more important than work! I skydive, they work! If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  18. I have a voodoo v4 with a Saber2 170 and a PDR176. Everything fits like a dream. RI bases pack volume on the Saber2 170. So There are no problems. If you click my username you can see my Rig. Canopy to match also. Blue stab, yellow, red, black, yellow, yellow, yellow, black, blue, yellow, blue stab if you have any questions Mike at Chuting Star did all the work for me and I am extremely pleased If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  19. I end up traveling quite a bit. When I travel I end up hitting new dropzones. Last weekend I went to one and it was basically locals only. Skipped twice on manifest and told "our 4 way team needs to jump" umm so skip the newguy! Then told I can get you 5k but we can't take you to altitude. Then they tried to charge me for the two jumps manifest pulled me off! Haha that place was a joke! If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  20. Well, actually on my check dive the instructor grabbed me to try and make me unstable to make sure I could recover. So yes they can, but I think everyone else is right, your a douche! If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  21. Flying out for Mississippi tomorrow. Let me know if anyone is interested!! If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  22. The load on the plane was as follows, 2 belly, 2 freeflyers, 3 tandems, 3 cameramen. I was doing a diving exit, holding heading, my buddy was coming around to me. Every dropzone I have been too it is always the same, BW Belly, Belly flyers, BW Freeflyers, Freeflyers, Students, Tandem, Then I am not sure on CReW but I think they are before Wingsuits generally? I was in the correct slot/position on the plane. I do not think that there was much for winds at altitude so the separation should have been 5 or so seconds. I have been spotting with groundspeed 40 miles an hour and when you look out the people are still below the plane and not drifting off as normal. so I had to do a 15 second count. (we have a recommended chart at my home DZ. If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  23. Well more to the story, we were first out bellyfly, the two that went by us were freeflying headdown I think. We flew away from line of flight (away from the tail) and tracked perpendicular to jumprun. So, really we should have been far away from everyone. I had to 180 to go back to the DZ. No one was swooping either. Lesson learned is continue to ask questions - thanks for the extra questions! Be cautious, and continue to be predictable. I didn't take the word of only 1 person becaused I asked an instructor aswell. If others read this maybe the lesson is to give more seperation of you on exit. Know the jump plan, follow the pattern and keep your eyes open. If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  24. - Landing patterns and safest areas - Winds aloft estimates - Jump run direction - Exit separation - Overhead view for outs and landing areas - All other DZ rules - Who to watch out for - Who's the skybabe most likely to show you a good time at night. - What kind of beer does the DZO like. Hope that helps. I do not understand this question, what is a cut/nocut on exit? I have never even heard of this before If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
  25. I jump at Suffolk Va. Don, the manager is great, safety is #1. I'm new, granted I'm going to make mistakes. No one talked about seperation, no winds aloft chart for that day. Cameramen and the TI should know the pattern for the day. I didn't think 4k was a high pull, considering if I pull at 4k that's prolly 3800, 600-700ft of snivel so I have a canopy at 3000ft. Let me ask this, if you show up at s DZ, what questions do I ask? If you do things that don't make you appreciate life than why do them
