So, help me out here: is this supposed to be funny or entertaining? If it is, I must be missing the point. It seems there is no respect for anything anymore, not even death!

Such a level of education and ability to use the English language is not exclusive of illegal aliens. In any case, why is that so important? As long as they are working their asses off for a few dollars to feed their families and not causing any trouble, why does it even matter if they are fluent in English or not?

Again, the same thing happens with Americans coming down to Baja. Given that nobody is asked for a passport upon entering Mexico, a lot of know American felons/criminals enter our Country. Although in much smaller scale, a good portion of our coastline is illegaly used for housing by Americans (just try hiking up the hill in La Bufadora and you will get your ass shot by two Americans that live up there... or they will let their dogs loose to chase you... seriously!) Enrique

That goes in both directions. Especially with pedophiles and drug addicts. We get a lot of US individuals involved in child pornography/child abuse, and many of the drug addicts and mentally ill people that walk the streets in Tijuana are American. Enrique

Although I do not justify it, I don't think that holding a flag upside down is half as bad as wearing your own Country's flag in underwear, bikinis, and just about any other object. That depends entirely who is wearing it. I totally agree!

I'm sure that you, like me and many others here, used to ride our bikes/skateboard/skates without a helmet, knee and elbow pads, etc., etc., etc., and look at us: we survived our childhood and turned out very normal. Yes, a scrape here and there, maybe even a broken bone... but banning TAG is going overboard!

There is a guy I know whose full name is Hector Grano-Delgado (slim-pimple). Another is Gerardo Paz-Guerra (peace-war).

You are entirely right. It's a matter of exposing your children to the right role-models.
-
IMHO, that would be hard for a parent to achieve when the public (including kids) is exposed to actions that contradict such ideals (i.e., the government sets a different example).

Source: http://www.vdare.com/awall/death.htm Do you think that Mexicans who commit murder in the U.S. should face U.S. justice? Of course! Murder or any other crime. Just look at who has Arellano-Felix in custody although he was captured in Mexico.

http://sintesistv.info/content/view/4260/48/ Here's a very rough and summarized translation: Jonathan Ryan, David Paul, Steven Stanley, Samuel Elithes and Federic Trevor (all US citizens with a criminal record in the US) were arrested yesterday in Tijuana for operating a child pornography ring... production and sale of videos through the internet.

Beautiful places along the Canyon. Amazing scenery. Neat rail system!!! But you are right, one of the scariest nights I've ever spent while traveling/backpacking in Mexico was in Temoris (the lower part where the rail lines are)... spooky people!

Supposedly, yes. But noone I know would dare.

Unfortunately "some" doesn't represent the will of the entire Country. Take, for instance, Cuba: hundreds of thousands hate Fidel, while hundreds of thousands support him. I hear what you are saying. When the first missiles were launched or the first bombs were dropped after 9/11, I had a chance to compare US newscasts with European newscasts... believe me when I tell you: they were miles apart although they were airing the same story. -
_________________________________ I think, TJ would be a 'walk in the park' compared to Nuevo Laredo! I have no idea, how many police chiefs that town has had in the past year. I think, the life expectancy of a police chief there, is about... 30-minutes! Chuck I haven't been to Nuevo Laredo, but I hear it's not nice. Here in TJ we have had about 270 violent deaths this year. That is 1 daily violent death, including governmental officials, police officers/investigators, D.A.s, criminals, etc. The number of kidnappings is undetermined but the last report I read was that Mexico had surpassed Colombia... and I am not kidding!
-
Bet I can guess what part of town you were visiting! I recently heard from a guy that got kicked out of a whore house because he was trying to get something he didn't pay for! However, I am not talking about 'regular' run-ins with the police, it is the overall perspective of the recent and ongoing violence in border towns such as TJ.
-
Probably about 1 year ago, I would tell fellow jumpers wanting to visit TJ that it was safe; that only people involved in drug smuggling were in danger (aside from the obvious consequences of being drunk in public and immoral behavior which, of course, skydivers never do...). Now, from my perspective, things have changed dramatically. That is why I would like to know how non-Mexicans see the violence situation in my Country.
-
That is what I would like to know: is it the police that makes you feel unsafe or is it somethin else? BTW, a very good percentage of Tijuana residents do not trust the police (that includes me). Traditionaly, you don't have to be drunk to be a target in TJ. It's all in the license plates! They see US license plates and they immediately see $$$.
-
I am interested in knowing how the skydiving community feels about traveling to, living in, investing in Mexico, specificaly Tijuana or any border town. Do you feel it is safe? Is the violence in Tijuana and other border towns even a subject that you hear/read about in the foreign media?

Now I see it, and apologize as it was purely unintentional. Writing in English exactly what I am thinking in Spanish is sometimes hard. On the other hand, I fully understand that servicemen MUST follow orders. I do not blame him or them. However, military on-site experience (as well as research performed by a civilian) are not thorough enough to enable any of us to ascertain the true causes of a political conflict such as the one at hand. -

so your claim is that Warped (and his ilk) 1 - never questions orders 2 - doesn't read newspapers 3 - doesn't listen to the news 4 - doesn't understand history why you (and your ilk) obviously do Rather than a more respectful position that he (and his ilk) have the same information and have come to different conclusions than you have, even if they do seem very apparent to you. It seems that "diversity" of thought is not something to be celebrated. Only cosmetic diversity is important? This might be why all the people in Bonfire hate SC. It's a terribly condescending, arrogant stance that so many take here. ... in other words, if I were to take Slyfox's words, I would have replied: "And it is a pity that soldiers believe everything their superiors tell them" -

Are they the same as Elk, and if so are there enough of them to organise a hunting expedition?
