Why fixing something which is not broken Oh,wait....fashion I know:) Blue skies I'd hate to have one of those primitive containers with regular tuck tabs and no magnets. Actually I do love the magnetic riser covers and most of the packers at our dz like the added ease of them too. So far I've never had any problem with them popping open in any way, and haven't heard of anyone else having that problem first hand either. All of my future containers will have magnetic riser covers... until they come out with something better.... (or more fashionable ) *I am not afraid of dying... I really could have used a week off. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Gear setup/checks to avoid horseshoe/pc in tow
ridestrong replied to t2.3aero's topic in Gear and Rigging
Look at your math its 6 to 7 seconds for pulling the handles not 10. But you can say 10 seconds all together is you factor in the 3 to 4 seconds its going to take to realize you have a PCIT!! *I am not afraid of dying... Gear setup/checks to avoid horseshoe/pc in tow
ridestrong replied to t2.3aero's topic in Gear and Rigging
Based on what? Your extensive experience actually pulling your handles in actual emergencies? I'm looking at simply the sheer action performed... not including the analysis, thought process, hesitation, etc... Let's just take these 3 phrases out: 1 "good 3 to 4 seconds to cutaway..." 2. "Pull reserve another 3 seconds..." "This is if everything goes well." 3. "if say your velcro on your cut away handle is really tight and takes 2 or 3 more seconds to cutaway" So, just looking at the action... 6 or 7 seconds just to pull 2 handles... "if everything goes well." Yeah, exaggerated. and if your velcro causes you to need up to 3 more extra seconds to pull your cutaway then: a) your as weak as a 2yo. or b) you should replace with normal velcro. So---> in all, possibly 10 whole seconds just to pull 2 handles. Exaggerated! Now if you want to add in analysis, thought process, hesitation, management, etc... then, yeah I agree 10 sec is a reasonable number, but not on simply the action alone. (except in the case of a total mal or pcit which is primarily what we have been talking about.) If he was in fact talking about a pcit then I think his numbers are completely f'n ridiculous. ETA: he was talking about a pcit. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

Hahaha that was pretty funny, especially the velcro handle part! ok... I'm just f'n with you. But you gotta admit those times are laughably exaggerated. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Obama applauds Eagles for giving Vick second chance
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
Well... he does somehow think that he should be able to have a dog again, even though he would be breaking his sentence to do so. I'm not saying he shouldn't get a second chance, I'm just saying he's still a total douche in my book. *I am not afraid of dying... Yeah I would be using the 3M adhesive tape not velcro for the side mount. So you guys haven't had any real problem with the 3M? I'm almost certain though that at this point I'm going with the top mount from extremvu.com. *I am not afraid of dying... Mounting a Contour HD Camera on a Helmet.
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thanks for the reply. Yeah it does seem like top mount will be the best option. It's not the end of the world if I lose it but I don't want the chance that it will happen in 1 out of every 10 jumps. I know your sentiments so I appreciate the response. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Mounting a Contour HD Camera on a Helmet.
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm considering mounting the camera on the side with the given 3M adhesive side mount. Has anyone used this??? I'm a bit worried that it will too easily get smacked off with the first riser slap. I will most likely top mount it with the custom aluminum mount and super velcro, but wanted to get some opinions on the side mount. Any advice on the side vs top mount is appreciated. Thanks. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Obama applauds Eagles for giving Vick second chance
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, I'm an Eagles fan and what he says is pretty much true. A lot of us are assholes. After all this is the city that booed Santa Claus (to be truthful, it was because Santa Claus was drunk, though). Yea, me too. And I'd rather be an asshole fan of a city that hosts teams who consistently make it to play offs and championships, then be a 'nicer' fan from some other city who doesn't even know what play offs even means. Wouldn't you rather be a nice fan of a team that consistently makes it to the play-offs. and maybe...., just maybe....., some day they will actually win a Superbowl.. *I am not afraid of dying... Gear setup/checks to avoid horseshoe/pc in tow
ridestrong replied to t2.3aero's topic in Gear and Rigging
OMG 250 jumps? Dude. I gotta hammer you on this. That is NOT a PC in tow! That is a pilot chute hesitation...a different animal entirely. Go back and review your EPs. NOW! Technically it still could be a pc in tow, until (or if) it pulls the pin... then it would be labeled as a pc hesitation. For someone that just went spouting off about semantics, I kinda thought you might have gathered the relative synonymity between the two. *I am not afraid of dying... Obama applauds Eagles for giving Vick second chance
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
"Obama applauds Eagles for giving Vick second chance Though the Eagles didn’t have a chance to make news on the field tonight, they made some more news off the field. Peter King of NBC reported during Football Night in America that President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance. President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences. Vick’s success gives all of them hope. In our view, Obama’s gesture also provides Vick with the kind of positive reinforcement that will help keep him out of any trouble during the 2011 offseason, once he is left to his own devices." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/26/obama-applauds-eagles-for-giving-vick-second-chance/ --- Why he decided he needed to comment on this is beyond me... seems like another one he should have just kept to himself. *I am not afraid of dying... Gear setup/checks to avoid horseshoe/pc in tow
ridestrong replied to t2.3aero's topic in Gear and Rigging
If you had sufficient altitude and made two attempts at the handle without success..., and could feel the bridle coming out boc it might be worth giving it one good yank before initiating EP's. (Again, given sufficient altitude) I completely disagree. The reason for rules like "try twice only and then go reserve" and hard decks is to avoid the temptation for "just one more try" because "I am almost there". People have gone in like that. If you start dishing out advice like that you are putting people at risk. Particularly if you do it to people you don't know on the internet. That's cool... I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm just saying that if I have SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE and my hand is already right there, I'm giving the bridle one good pull. If I'm at my hard deck then I'm not f'n around and I'm going silver. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

No one was talking about pc in tow. But I disagree with you. >>"In a PC in tow, nobody has situational awareness, because the situation is behind them. " You can still have situational awareness with a pc in tow, to say otherwise seems strange. I was taught that with a pc in tow, you can try adjusting your burble with rocking to right or left for example. If I notice a pc in tow above 3k I'm going to at least try changing my burble before I cutaway and hit silver at 2k. *I am not afraid of dying... (Again, given sufficient altitude) The OP has 3 jumps... Would you recommend mid air rigging to someone that barely knows how to pull for himself? I would want them to have the situational knowledge. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
My belief is that G*d does not create famine, natural disasters, disease, etc... Nor does he orchestrate any of our daily lives. He has given the world to us, to make our own decisions and destiny, to make right from wrong, war or peace.... and in the end we will each be judged on our actions. Does G*d answer an occasional prayer to true believers or perform a miracle once and a while...? I like to believe so. *I am not afraid of dying... Conspiracy Theories (how many people does it take to pull off a lie)
ridestrong replied to dj123's topic in Speakers Corner
You do know who you sound like...right? No. Who? Ron Schott? DJ The whole point of the story about the tree of knowledge was the prideful temptation/lie of beomming like God. And now you, Cocheese , you are interpreting for us the word of God! My what a powerful station you have !!! It is a wonder that you alone have the ability to tell all of us what God 'meant"! Actually... I'm pretty sure that is the 'gist' of the correct interpretation. To be 'all knowing', 'god like' etc... Frankly, the Bible in part is up for some individual/personal interpretation... *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

With planes dropping loads every few minutes, that's not a great idea! There's a canopy safety seminar Saturday evening. You should try to make it to that. I will for sure be there for that. If its the last load of the day how is it a bad idea? It's perfectly fine... that's why most high pulls at dz's with multiple planes in the air are---> sunset jumps.

You WOULD be able to get both an RW and FF suit for $700 if you go through Freak'n Suit.. That includes the colors and design you want and custom fit. I also saw someone say ' big FF suit', FF suits should be nice and close fitting, not big and baggy. Nothing hotter than a chic in a nice FF suit. *I am not afraid of dying...
