  3. Thank god!! Yes, that is the question I'm asking. :-) *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  4. It's about whether or not you believe there is a physiologic response that builds muscle memory... Not about following through with EPs, which I'm sure we all agree is good practice and should always be performed. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  5. The question IS NOT should you pull your reserve handle... yes you should. The question is asking (in other words): Do you believe you build muscle memory from an 'actual' reserve pull, when for the average fun jumper it only occurs on avg once every 500 - 1000 jumps (or maybe once every 2 years). *Not sure on the ratio but though I'd seen those numbers thrown around. I feel that telling students and new jumpers that even if your reserve deploys your reserve, before you can pull the reserve handle it should still be done to create muscle memory. While I think it is a good teaching method to get jumpers to think about pulling the reserve handle routinely after a cutaway, I'm not so sure it actually 'builds muscle memory', better preparing you for a possible future cutaway. I agree with Amazon's post (post #2) 100% and do the exact same thing. I think practicing EP's, touching your handles in order, is important for building muscle memory. *I am not afraid of dying... 7. Maybe you should reread the the poll description, or the thread title for that matter. ... but I guess I will edit it to add that, it's implied that an RSL has already deployed the reserve. *I am not afraid of dying... 8. What are you laughing at.... I don't like your new profile pic. It's weirding me out. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  9. Better to learn how to fly your body... than to learn how to fly your jumpsuit. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  10. RSLs, MARDs, often beat jumpers to their reserve handle... If you already find yourself under a reserve, do you feel still pulling the reserve handle will 'build muscle memory'? Is it necessary to pull your reserve handle to "build muscle memory"? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  11. No you haven't . . . but we wish you would. ooops... done. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  12. Hey group... just wanted to update you with some really good news about that patient I had told you all about ~6 weeks ago. Just to recap, this is a 30 y/o girl that was in a 90 mph roll-over accident and came into the ER with paralysis below the waist. On MRI and CT scan she was found to have a burst T12 vertebrae that was crushing her spinal cord. We did emergency decompression surgery but odds were that she would never walk again. I saw her today in the office and she is doing great. The (2 stage) surgery was successful, she is receiving rehab at one of the top neurological rehab centers in the nation and will soon be walking again. Some of you asked me to keep you updated and it makes my day to be able to share this with you. I have attached some x-ray images showing the end results of our surgeries. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  13. Yeah I really liked 'The Book of Eli' as well, cool story line and well done.... definite recommendation. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  15. Hot Tub Time Machine This movie was ok... there were some funny parts, but I think my expectations of 'funny' were too high. It did have a bit of that late 80s early 90s comedy feel to it so that was a plus. It's worth adding to the queue. - Ghost Writer .... eh I'd give this movie a C-. The plot hasn't really been done that I know of, but there were too many slow spots with only a couple interesting spots. This is more of a, wait til it comes out on HBO type of movie than, go out and rent it movie. - ok one more Extraordinary Measures This is a good movie... (based partially on true events). It has some emotional ups and downs and keeps your interest. Some of the actors may not be "true" actors but I think it adds to the feel of the movie in a beneficial way. This is a go out and rent it soon movie. I give it a B+ and a
  16. I want to see that. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  17. No... I never said anything about a wingsuit. I was simply trying to state it as I said above: in that having a student as a coach, is as much, or more of a 'distraction' to your own situational awareness than having a camera on your helmet. I think it would make as much sense to offer a camera course at 100 jumps for people interested in jumping with a camera as it does to allow them to take a coaching course... teach them the 'need to knows' about risks and awareness, as you would in either discipline. I also think it would be reasonable to require 200 for coaching as well. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  18. I tried making that exact same argument once... in that having a student as a coach, is as much, or more of a 'distraction' to your own situational awareness than having a camera on your helmet. The only thing I would say differently in your statement is that someone should be able to perform a basic gear check at 1 jump just as thoroughly as someone at 1000 jumps... and where the coach should do a gear check, it is not their responsibility. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  19. Not really... If your doing 'sport' routes then indoor/outdoor climbing is pretty similar. The biggest difference being that indoor climbing technically requires the climber to follow a specific route using specific hand and foot holds, where as outdoor climbing there are no 'set' holds to use. Also indoor routes are obviously height restricted. In a lot of ways though indoor climbing still carries the same risks as outdoor climbing (unlike 'indoor skydiving'). Then you also have 'trad/traditional' outdoor climbing which is another story. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  22. Jon Stewart is hilarious!!! As far as Sean Hannity goes... NO WAY, I can't believe he played that clip like that on his show... That is totally fucking crazy, he is the biggest piece of shit ever, I can't believe he would do such a thing, he shouldn't be allowed to be a tv entertainer... Unbelievable and completely unthinkable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /sarc *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  23. I had a Bridezilla about a month or two ago (I DJ/MC weddings) request that specific version. Fortunately I gave it a nice intro on the mic to cover my ass "blah blah blah...this is a very special version of a popular song picked out especially by (insert brides name)" Pretty much killed the dancefloor instantly. I wouldn't be surprised if it killed the entire ballroom. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  24. true... back yard trampolines have a MUCH higher risk of causing injury than the tunnel. Hell, the tunnel has about as much 'risk' of injury as a round of golf. I wouldn't sweat it. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  25. Great answer... it just needs to be kept in perspective, as we all know things tend to get blown WAY out of proportion here. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
