  1. Jeanne Cameron (f) 365.93 km/h, World Cup, August 2004, Jumptown, USA. 365.93 kph = 227.37 mph AWESOME!!!!!! *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  2. Dryer climates also seem to generate more turbulent conditions.... as do higher altitude ground levels (thinner air). *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  3. I had my rigs made that way to keep "the girls" happy. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=660556#660556 Trust me.. the rig works just fine that way... and no it does not blow off when doing headdown.... and I have a VERY FAST headdown No problems huh.... that's cool. I can see where it would benefit you. Looks like at the least it could knock the wind out of you in the event of a hard opening. *I am not afraid of dying... 4. That mid-section chest strap looks like a recipe for cracked ribs. ETA: Maybe it's just the positioning in this photo? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  5. Special thanks to everyone at Skydive Tecumseh: Ryan, Robyn, Jim, John, Chris, Evan, and everyone else. It was great meeting you all and getting a couple jumps in with some of you. Wish I could have stayed longer, you guys have a fun dz with great people. I was able to bring a part of ST back with me... I bought that dusty, web covered silver Z1 open face from the case. Now I have something to mount my GoPro on when I hit 200. Next time I'm back in the area I will definitely be hitting Tecumseh again. -Josh *I am not afraid of dying... 6. I hope the weather cooperates on Sunday, looks like it is supposed to be descent.... Also... got to play "Whirly Ball" today for the first time ever, that's some redneck fun right there! Think I might have to open one in Denver. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  7. Perhaps you should explain to the readers what that means. The target audience for that question will know what that means... but for those that aren't sure and would like to give their opinion, here's my best and simplest explanation: Quartering the slider = pushing the slider down so the slider grommets are down on the slider stops and then 'quartering' each side of the slider between the line sets (or grommets), basically forming a "+" shape at the opening pouch of the slider. The other option is: simply pushing the slider down so the slider grommets are down on the slider stops but not 'quartering' the slider. *I am not afraid of dying... 8. Mercx. He didn't win 7 in a row. He was a clean rider though. Just saying...... "Merckx has condemned doping but he tested positive three times.[5] The first time was in the 1969 Giro d'Italia[6] where he tested positive for the stimulant Reactivan at Savona, after leading the race through 16 stages. He was expelled from the Giro." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddy_Merckx *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  9. Contador apologies to Schleck via YouTube *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  10. Any thoughts on whether a proper 'quartering' makes much difference than simply making sure the slider grommets are down against the slider stops? Quartering the slider = pushing the slider down so the slider grommets are down on the slider stops and then 'quartering' each side of the slider between the line sets (or grommets), basically forming a "+" shape at the opening pouch of the slider. The other option is: simply pushing the slider down so the slider grommets are down on the slider stops but not 'quartering' the slider. *I am not afraid of dying... 11. YES! Buy one of those 'memory foam toppers', you can get them at quite a few places but I know they have them at Costco and Sam's Club. They work great for making a squishy mattress more firm... just make sure to get one of the thicker ones. There are also a ton of sites to buy them online. *I am not afraid of dying... 12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg This gets whackier and funnier as it goes on... Over 5.3 million views in less than a month. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  14. Yep, this is actually pretty frowned upon in the Tour and was a shady move by Contador... or questionable at best. Schleck is upset and Contador is backpedaling a bit saying that 'he didn't know Schleck had a mechanical problem' .... kinda hard to believe when he was directly behind him when it happened. Hopefully it will set up a great battle for the remainder of the mtn stages. Well anyway just a bit more drama to an already exciting Tour from the get go. Current Standings *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  15. Well I got a rental car from the airport just so I have a way to get to Skydive Tecumseh first thing Sunday morning and back to the airport after a few jumps. Also decided to just bring all of my own gear so I'm pretty excited to get out there and jump with you all... and at a new dz. What time has the first load usually been going up on Sundays this summer? I'll call on Sat too to confirm, just wondering. Also do you guys usually run back-to-back loads all day? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  16. But I think most of the riders are dirty (or at least, have found ways to still enhance their performance with getting caught or by staying at the edge of legality), so, well, at least its a more-or-less even race... Yeah I think that is exactly how it is... On a positive note, this has been a pretty exciting year for the Tour. There hasn't been many "routine" stages... 17. Forgot alti... Used: eyes, audible, other jumper. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  19. Mercx. He didn't win 7 in a row. He was a clean rider though. Just saying...... There's likely not a truly 'clean' rider in the entire Tour, but Lance is the most tested athlete in history... and he has never come up 'positive' in Tour history. Frankly there is no certainty that Eddy Merckx was clean either, riders were doping back in his time as well. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  20. I honestly think he wasn't in contention... But I guess we'll never know: him up to par, without 3 crashes would have been a much better situation. I'd like to see him go for a mountain stage win to see if he still has it, I think he's capable... In the end I guess he's had his time and will remain the greatest overall tour winner for a long time to come. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  21. I have a Safire2 159 @ about 1.13 wl. Have only had ~2 slider hangups after what were very nice openings. Never once have I had end-cell closure issues on it. There are quite a few others at my dz that have Safire2s as well, never heard any complaints. I'd recommend buying one. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  22. Yeah definitely very unfortunate stage full of bad luck for Lance... just disappointing not being able to see him competing with the rest of the climbers. I'd like to see Andy Schelck win the whole thing this year. Current Standings *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  23. I'm sure there are more than a few of you very experienced/long-time jumpers that would say I am part of the problem... My up bringing was quite strict... always addressing elders by "sir and ma'am", friends parents by their last names etc... Parents were separated at a very young age. Lived primarily with my mom in slummed apartments and low cost neighborhoods. Thankfully my parents and grandparents instilled in me the virtues of respect, indomitable spirit and the importance of setting and achieving ones goals. I have seen a fair amount of death... I have had more than one life die in my hands... I have yet to find the easiest way to accept this... but it has taught me that life is much to valuable to fall by the wayside. Many of us take something special from the experience of skydiving. For me it is many things... It is feeling full of life. It is my meditation. It is my excitement. It is my relaxation. I can not speak for "the youth" of our sport as I am older than many of you might think .... but I think most of the answers to the OP's post have been answered above by both sides. The internet certainly clouds our interpretation of others point of view allowing us to see what we want to see or not want to see. Sure there are some that may be "unwilling" to heed advice, but there may also an equal number of those with the perception of that which doesn't hold to be true. Life is best lived in person... -Josh *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
