Only an idjit can't recognize that a camera adds additional tasks and distractions. Check out this guy. I'll bet he wishes he hadn't been messing with a camera... "hundreds of thousands and no incidents?" You meant "fatalities," right? Yeah I saw that skiing video on FB... Yes... I mean fatalities or any other significant injury, but I don't even see as much as a broken bone attributed directly to wearing a camera. I didn't start this thread to argue my opinion, just stating what the statistics seem to show. And, looking to see if the general consensus is 'safe or unsafe'. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

I don't disagree with you but there are still no significant injuries reported regarding either snag hazard or distraction. If the BASE incident was (instead) skydiving the outcome would likely have been different... with more time/altitude to deploy after snag cleared, the potential use of AAD, reserve, etc.... However, I do not wish to discuss the BASE incident in this thread. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

How many jumps do you think are made each month with small format cameras across the world...? thousands, tens of thousands? After re-reading the Small Format Camera "Incident" list I don't see one single "skydiving" incident that resulted in anything more than minor injuries. Yes, there was the BASE death, which is very unfortunate, however BASE presents a separate set of safety issues and should be discussed in a separate form. While I don't think that jumping with ANY camera should be taken lightly, I can't help to think that some threads become too focused on small format cameras regardless of incident or not. If we look at the statistics... it appears as tho in hundreds of thousands of jumps with small format cameras in "skydiving" there has not yet been one single serious incident linked to them, this includes experienced and new jumpers alike. I'm not advocating we change any rules or anything else, just asking the question. Can't we say once and for all that they are indeed, "generally safe"? JUMPERS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT DESPITE THE POLL RESULTS, JUMPING WITH CAMERAS DOES ADD ANOTHER FACTOR TO THE DIVE... SIM RECOMMENDATIONS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Most FFers tend to wear tighter suits/clothes these days. The last thing you want is to be standing all the time to try to keep up with jumpers that are falling faster than you in their sit. When I'm wearing shorts in warm weather I usually just wear a t-shirt with them... If it's a little cooler I like to wear a close fitting 'dry-fit' long sleeve shirt.. Otherwise I just wear rather tight FF suit. The less baggy the better... IMHO. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Deflect, and Shuck and Jive! Just answer the question so that everone can understand your attempts to be illusive. It's like trying to fix a broken record only you can't move the needle... Because of the main 3-4 Lib posters here I can hardly tolerate reading SC posts any more. They actually make me almost miss Lucky's posts.... AT LEAST he did post a few lines of actual substance a mist his paragraphs of BS. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
I was 18 and my buddy's parents were out of town... I had already been smoking bud for a year or so but wanted to try getting drunk. He had a full bottle of SoCo so that was the drink of choice. I had a pint sized drinking glass that I filled with half SoCo and half Coke. I didn't care for the taste of it so I put it down quickly, in 5 min or so. I was used to getting high and being tilted instantly after inhaling... so after a few minutes went by and I didn't feel a thing I was pretty disappointed. I proceeded to fill the pint glass 3/4 full with nothing other than SoCo. I put the glass to my mouth and slammed it. No more than 2 minutes later I was as retarded as Corky from 'Life Goes On'. I vaguely remember falling on the floor, where I woke up 8 hours later face lying in the middle of a 3 foot puddle of my own puke... which I then had to clean up while my head and stomach where still spinning in opposite directions. I didn't drink again until I turned 21... the smell of SoCo still makes me gag. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

But I think a lot of that (end-cell closure) is in part due to the slow slider descent/slow opening. If the slider is held up half way down the lines it will pull the outer lines toward the center there by not allowing them to inflate as quickly, resulting in that prolonged cell closure. I think... *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

Can't we all just get along. I thank Tdog for helping to clear up my off line rep a bit.. I realize that I have been in some, maybe many 'heated discussions' here as well. I admit that there is some entertainment to the 'back and forth' here on dz.com but ultimately when it comes to the Skydiving discussion forms my intention is to learn and contribute, if I can... even if that contribution is wrong but opens up further discussion. I will work on removing my stigma... and try saving the back and forth for SC. Regardless, I've always enjoyed all you assholes anyway... *I am not afraid of dying... Yeah I saw that in the video as well... I agree, that makes sense. I would still be interested in some information regarding elasticity properties between Spectra and Vectran if such info exists? *I am not afraid of dying... 1. Place said squirrel in 5"x9" 'bake safe' pyrex pan. 2. Preset oven to low temp 100* degrees F. 3. Place in oven and let bake for 8 hours (times may vary based on squirrel size). For high altitude bake 9 hours. 4. Remove, and quickly shape to desired pose. 5. Sit and let cool for 2 hours. 6. Enjoy squirrel. -Josh *I am not afraid of dying... When I ordered my Safire2 they put Spectra lines on it. After ~150 jumps I felt like it had a slight left turn, possibly due to loss of trim after a poorly packed hard opening I had. I contacted NZ Aerosports and 2 weeks later I received a brand new set of Vectran lines in the mail free of charge. When I had the Spectra lines on my canopy my slider never got 'hung up'... now after switching to the Vectran lines my slider gets 'hung up' on virtually every jump and my openings are much softer... just my personal experience. I had the Spectra lines measured by a rigger and was told they were all 'within trim'. If you would like them they are all yours free of charge. PM me if you'd like them. *I am not afraid of dying... piisfish, dcroft and I were simply discussing lines and each of us were trying to provide some information which may be helpful to the OP. I never claimed to be right over anyone else... just said what I "thought" to be true. I'm looking for sources that show otherwise but so far I can't find anything. If any of you all-knowing skygods (monkycndo, diablopilot, martini) have any actual info to contribute to this thread please bless us all with your king shit knowledge. Otherwise go to some of the threads I started and continue bashing me there. -

No, I don't believe that's correct. You may want to check your information on this one mate. Different line types come in different sizes. Yeah I know that a 750 line is going to be thicker than a 500 line, but I thought the Spectra line in general due to being somewhat stronger is also slightly thinner than Vectran, but I could be wrong. Downsides to Spectra is that it is less springy/forgiving on openings and doesn't hold trim as well. I think my general statement it true, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Not true in any sense. 1. Spectra doesn't hold trim as well. = true 2. Vectran wears faster than Spectra. = true 3. Vectran has greater abrasion friction than Spectra. = true 4. My point that if he went to a thinner Spectra line his slider will drop faster giving him a quicker opening, if that is what he is looking for. = true 5. Spectra less elasticity than Vectran? (no sources to show otherwise) Can you provide any information that ANYTHING I said isn't true???? If you can post some sources I'd love to see them. If Spectra loses trim more so than Vectran wouldn't it likely have less elasticity/elastic properties? ETA: 6. "if I was wrong in anyway there would be at least a few people to come around and correct me. Wink ...and then a bunch of A-holes to just tell me how wrong I was." = true *I am not afraid of dying...
