Icarus Canopies after-sale service - be carefully
ridestrong replied to AndrzejC's topic in Gear and Rigging
Whatever we're just talking about his lines, if you don't do your own research before buying your an idiot. Besides I knew if I was wrong in anyway there would be at least a few people to come around and correct me. and then a bunch of A-holes to just tell me how wrong I was. ETA: Frankly I can't find any great comparison info between Spectra vs Vectran, would appreciate it if anyone else can. In John LeBlanc's videos "What is Next for Parachute Lines?" and "Informational Video - Vectran" He does say that Vectran has greater abrasion friction on the slider grommets, slowing the slider descent. He also refers to Spectra as "low bulk" which I interpret as a thinner line. I didn't find anything about the comparison regarding elasticity between the two. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

No, I don't believe that's correct. You may want to check your information on this one mate. Different line types come in different sizes. Yeah I know that a 750 line is going to be thicker than a 500 line, but I thought the Spectra line in general due to being somewhat stronger is also slightly thinner than Vectran, but I could be wrong. Downsides to Spectra is that it is less springy/forgiving on openings and doesn't hold trim as well. I think my general statement it true, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. *I am not afraid of dying... did you see John LeBlanc's video about lines ? There is a reason why I like Vectran. Spectra is good for my reserves -
Just saw RED a few nights ago and liked it too. It wasn't spectacular but definitely good action, descent humor, very entertaining and a good rental. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

It also looks like those lines are old as shit... you can see fraying wear all over them in the videos. I can't believe that they would look that used with less than 200 jumps on them. Having those frayed lines can also slow down/ hold up your slider. If you get new lines, you might just want to get some Spectra lines. They're thinner and smoother than Vectran and you'll probably have less slider hang-up with quicker openings. However my opening are just like yours in your video and that's how I like it. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

True Grit Guess I had too high of expectations for this movie . I love westerns, and from an acting and western style stand point this movie was GREAT! Only problem was that I was somewhat disappointed with the story line of events in the movie. I give it 3 1/2 stars, and I wouldn't have been too disappointed to see it in Blu-ray on my Samsung for the first time instead of the theater. The Fighter I really liked this movie. Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale were great. It's based on the true events of boxer Micky Ward. I definitely recommend this movie and give it an 'A'. *I am not afraid of dying... I agree... shortly after I got my audible I completely quit looking at my alti, until I'm under canopy, or a quick glance at wave off. I usually wait for my audible but I'm always using the eye to ground visual alti on every jump. I might get a second alti just cause I like to rely on devices to save my life. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

mwabd1's story is pretty common and represents most of our patients as well. The one thing I would tell you is that if you have a lot of back pain in addition to the leg pain or if you are found to have 'instability' at the same level as the disc herniation your surgeon may recommend a fusion. I would definitely avoid a fusion if you can and if it is recommended to you, you should get a second opinion. Although ultimately it may be the necessary surgery in your case. Microdiscectomies are a relatively minimally invasive procedure where just the portion of herniated disc is 'shaved off'. Like mwabd1 said, recovery should be short, 4-6 weeks, but you will be back doing all your daily activities on day 1. It's typically done as an 'outpatient' surgery. I'm a PA in spine surgery and I've done hundreds of microdiscectomies, and like I've told others here, I'm happy to help in any way I can. Have you had an MRI yet? Good luck... feel free to PM me. -Josh *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Recruiting at other dropzones?
ridestrong replied to Gary73's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes. Nothing wrong with simply inviting/suggesting that other people try a different dz... people are free to make up their own minds and go where ever they want. It would be absurd to say otherwise. Now if your trash talking or bad mouthing that's a different story. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

I may be looking into selling mine in the next couple months... I have a Safire2 159. Looking to down size to another Safire2. I'll look into getting a new one this weekend and can give you an idea of what I'd sell it for... it only has ~160 jumps on it. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Cool!! Thank you. That guide is 10 times better than the one that came with mine. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Are aware that you can adjust the alarm volume? BTW, I like mine and especially like the aluminum case. I've busted a lot of plastic skydiving stuff over the years. REALLY!? How? The directions that came with mine didn't say anything about it... I also read that you can select the different type of alarm you want but I'm not sure I got that right either... do you just 'stop' on the alarm tone you want to choose? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Hahahaha thank you... me too! def in my top 5. Same here... still don't understand why that happens as much as it does. ETA: I have yet to jump at a dz I didn't like.

I wish it was a little louder when I'm wearing an open face (which is rarely) but otherwise it's very easy to use, I love the 3 dif alti alarm settings... think you'll like it. ETA: I never look at my visual alti anymore so I'm thinking about getting a second Neoxs as a back up. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
