Was not aware of that! The job situation hasn't hit us that hard, the FD here just hired a few more full time paid staff, actually. They are also hiring an EMS Training officer, but have not had that much luck finding anyone.

the place where i got my medic, here in florida dosent require any actual experience, just an EMT liscense and that you pass Anatomy and Phys. ive gone straight through EMT school, into fire school, and through medic school. and am now looking for a job. but either way, i would NOT recommend doing it my way (i HAD to, due to extenuating circumstances) and passed fine, but it was NOT easy by any means, even the guys taht had been EMT's for years struggled pretty badly. either way good luck. It sounds like you're trying to be a paid firefighter? I do it (paid volunteer) and I've always toyed around with the idea of going that route. With your medic cert and all that, have you seen more employment opportunities for someone who goes into the medical side of things? I wouldn't mind. I've lived in Alaska for the majority of my life and I get outdoors plenty. A little cold wouldn't hurt at all. I just feel naked without any sort of mountain as a mental bookmark
