Sorry I deleted the pictures, It turns out there was not enough light. I have shot many sunset loads in video mode but with still mode it cant handle the lower light especially overcast too.. I have switched to my DSLR for still shots. I've got a CX110 for video and was using the Gopro instead of my larger, heaver camera for stills while I was getting use to my new camera helmet. Now that it isn't so new and I've moved to a Sony DSLR replacing the gopro for still pictures.. The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

FYI Gopro support viewed some of the photos and questioned the ambient light at the time the pictures were taken. They said the Firmware could not have caused the problem. Coincidence maybe? For an action camera I would think underexposing would be more salvageable than motion blur. It was an overcast evening load but the CX110 had no problems at all with video. I don't shoot video for hire so the only disappointment personal. Later when I'm comfortable with the my camera helmet I will move to my DSLR and replace the Gopro all together. Since no one has responded to this post the issue must be isolated. If I find out more I will update it for the search eng. The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

I've been using a gopro in camera mode shooting a still every 2 seconds for a couple months now and have just upgraded the firmware as per direction from the manufacture, Problem is now my still shots are blurred as if shutter speed is not fast enough to stop motion. out of 170 shots, maybe 3 turned out of but nothing like they have been before the upgrade. Has anyone had this problem? I have a support case number with the manufacture but haven't received a reply yet.. Just wondering if I can solve the problem myself with a parameter change.. I just completed the Coach course under John Wade. We studied and worked together for a few weeks at our DZ in anticipation, We also had several AFF instructors filling us in on how the course will be laid out and what we need to be working on. I can Say one thing, John Wade is very serious about the course and it was very intense, The ground prep is the meat of the program, 3 days worth. I really enjoyed it and we all took in tons of information.. Dozens of Hot Tips formed from actual experiences of our evaluators, all of which we incorporated into our lesson plans.. I am really proud of my rating regardless of my low jump numbers. I know that is an issue with some here. The course has made better skydivers of us all. ***The issue is I found out today I am the 3rd person almost colliding with this person who is a danger. /*** I'm still in the dark about whether this happened under canopy or free falling.. My first thought would be a separation issue on the jump run. Under canopy is not normally a camera issue regarding the loosing focus on proximity or altitude.. Third maybe a direct in your face approach would be a hell of a lot more effective than a post online? Someone threatens my life I damn sure will be addressing the problem up close and personal.. Just my opinion.. My jump numbers are real low for much of an opinion though...I'm really just trying to figure out where the near death collision happened, a DZO would normally ground someone for a move like that under canopy. (At my DZ anyway) The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

I have noticed when we are being filmed with a go pro the camera flyer is close but in when viewed on the ground everyone seems so far away. Is there a way to zoom with an editor so the final cut is cropped to a larger view? Does that make any sense at all? Excuse my lack of knowledge in this field... Several people including myself have been trying to find a manufacture that makes freefly type paints with booties? The summer heat is just getting started and sacrificing comfort for the power booty's give is a real dilemma sometimes... Is there such a thing? At my DZ students are last out, (if no tandems are on board). That does two things, Sets the traffic pattern up for the less experienced to set up in under canopy and "no pressure" from people not being in a position to see the spot. Good Job on standing your ground. I would hope your coach would have backed you up on the ground and your DZO would have made a point out of the good decision made by a student jumper when the beer light came on... RW suits and material selection, I need to know what the material is on a typically "Fast suit" I am new to the sport and started with some age on me, I don't bend well sometimes but to make maters worse I bought a tonisuit that has a very thick material that does not help me much when I'm wanting a faster fall rate. (I was told the suit was slow when I bought it) I'm looking to buy another suit, used through the classifieds here but need to know what to ask when inquiring about the material. Does that make any sense? The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

This parallels the no helmet law's. It's a mater of choice based on experance... I've been riding motorcycles for 40 years, Wearing a helmet is required by law in my state. I would like to be able to make that choice for myself for some reason. I would choose to wear one as I would choose to use an AAD. I'm very inexperienced in skydiving and believe it would be a good choice. I'm very experienced in riding motorcycles and still believe wearing a helmet is a good choice. (for me).. After reading this thread I believe the ones making the choice by experance in this field, should be given the right to do so. Myself and others just starting out and with virtually no experance to speak of, should use common sense and use all resources available to contuniue safely in this craft.. This sport is expensive and I've never considered people with multiple rigs trying to outfit them with AAD's, That would get very expensive. The ones I really admire have thousands of jumps and have gone through emergency procedures many times but I've never talked to anyone of these experience jumpers that have had an AAD fire because of circumstance beyond their control.. I've also been to to many funerals of brothers who have died in fatal accidents riding motorcycles wearing helmets.. I know it's apples and oranges in comparacion but I still can see a common factor.. It's a personal issue.. You make choices you will live with the rest of your life, whether it be a long and healthy one or short and sweet.. When it's your time it's your time.. if it endangers other skydivers then you have a responsibility to them. I don't see an AAD addressing this issue, I'm not seeing a connection. I'm new to this and maybe I need to be enlightened.. The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

I just bought my first rig through the dropzone.com, following the exact guidelines stated above in my original post, Cindy Sky was more than agreeable and in fact, sated that "this is how it's normally done." DZ's don't mind helping out their customers this way. I had no problems with the exchange. My DZ has a good reputation in handling the middle man role and the transaction was flawless. I want to let everyone know this method works and makes good sense for both parties involved.. I passed up a few real good deals because of the reluctance to agree to a method a peer or FPS (Fellow poor skydiver) would easily understand. Thanks for every one's input and hopefully anyone with the same concerns will pick up this post with a search and get on board as I have.. Blueskys and special thanks to Cindy Sky for a great deal and Skydive Suffolk my home DZ for being one of the best! The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

Reasons for an AAD other than yourself.
Jacked replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Man i just got my A license, That guy over there with all the jumps and really knows his stuff, Hell he says he don't need an AAD. I'm buying a rig and cant really afford one with an AAD. I can always pick one up later but for now I can jump without one. My mentor does. He wouldn't do anything that would get me into trouble. He's so cool... Now first off I have common sense and the above is just a scenario I bet is not far from some true life shit. I can also imagen the one sporting no AAD's to be the one scoffing at the kid burning in because of something stupid someone put in his mind.. I believe the higher your rating, the more responsibility you carry for the ones beginning in this sport. If you have an argument against AAD's then keep it to your self and don't plant deadly seeds in the minds of amatures before they get the chance to figure things out for themselves.. I also have a lot of respect for every advancement in safety and the ones that teach it. Some of us just don't have the skills yet to be able to arch locate and throe unconscious, Sure Shit happens and when it's your time it's your time. Only Carma will determine if it's a sad thing or a stupid mistake.. I am fortunate enough to jump at a DZ that requires an AAD. Just my opinion. but what do I know? 28 jumps and counting.. Reasons not to buy an AAD? Ah, trick question. There is no reason not to buy. Points? The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

Beer Beer Beer, It's paying your dues to the sport. I just received my A license and everything I do cost a case of beer. Fly through your first "industrial hase" a case, your first 4 way, a case, your first time shitting at the DZ a case, but look at all the benefits you get! All the stories you get to listen to while everyone drinks your beer! That stuff is priceless! Hell my DZ has Hand signals for Beer! It's taught in the AFF training right along with arch, circle of awareness, legs, pull and most importantly, RELAX, Arms extended, bent at the elbows with palms up, That's just apart of the deal man. Think of it like this, You not buying beer but becoming more familiar with the ones that will teach you to live. Lighten up and just start bringing the beer with you ahead of time. Before you know it someone else will be doing all the first time things that require payment into the guild and you will be one of the ones presenting the hand signal to the newbie..... One little tip, Don't ever say that was the first time for anything. That always cost a case! Blue Skies The end result is directly connected to the effort applied

I just received my A license and am looking to gear up.. I have found a couple of nice rigs that I have inquired to purchase here but when I go to close the deal I get no response.. I was told by my JM at our DZ that I could use them as a middle man so to speak for buying used gear. I give the DZ's listing and the master riggers name there. I offer to pay shipping and if necessary pay return shipping back if the gear is not as advertised or deemed not air worthy for some reason, I even offer the seller to have their DZ rigger call ours and if they can get together and agree I would just send the money out. Is this too much to ask or do people really expect you to send three or four grand out to a complete stranger? These are not featured members mind you. I need to know how it's normally done here so I can get on manifest at the best rates... Thanks The end result is directly connected to the effort applied
