  1. Well, since it's so unlikely that Andy is going to run out and buy a shotgun if we get pregnant, you can give us a shotgun for a Baby Shower present when we decide to have kids. He said he'll use it for target practice. Hmm, I wonder if he meant the kid...cos the last time he used a shotgun, a (OMG, they killed) Kenny doll was used for target practice! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  2. Now now...let's not post too much about our bedroom habits, dear. _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  3. What a bizarre study! What I have to wonder is why the heck was this study was done...and why is the article in Prevention magazine? Maybe if parents want to reduce the chance that their future children will try risky sports, they should conceive so that the probable birthdate is between April and September? The last time I glanced at the birthday list, it seems that everybody's birthdays were across the board...I was born in September, and Andy was born in May. So we're not really supposed to be adventurous and daring people according to the study. Heh.
  4. Ewwww! Ummm...because of water damage, right? Flooding in the basement, that sort of thing? _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  5. I don't have them myself...but the Chicago Historical Society certainly does! I made a photocopy of the skydiving article, but I can't remember where I put it. It was a neat series, though...I'll see if I can find the dates of the articles again. _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  6. Yes, maybe it won't dislocate my shoulder like the cast iron skillet did when I whack you upside the head. _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  7. Ah, if you hang around a Canadian long enough, you'll start to sound like one. I was raised in Tennessee, and I married a Canadian. AndyMan and I have been together for a little over two years, and the other day, the HR Assistant at my work said "Sheesh, you married one, and now you sound like one!" Then again, I tend to pick up whatever accent is around me at the time. AndyMan does the same thing and occasionally let's loose a midwestern accent! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  8. Not to hijack the thread, but here's the fire you're talking about: http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/120604_ns_Lasalle_fire.html AndyMan and I have been watching the news coverage for the last 1.5 hrs, and we went up to the roof of our building (we live in the west loop) to see if we could see anything. All we saw was fog and five choppers hanging out south of the area! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  9. Wow, I leave to go to physical therapy, and this thread just goes nuts! Let us know if you guys are going out for dinner/drinks tonight and want some good skydiver company.
  10. Yah, sorry about that! Apparently my camera's "no red eye" setting doesn't work very well! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  11. Woohoo! Thanks for a great lunch! It was great meeting jraf and MissKris--you guys are sooooo cute together! And great to see ladyskydiver and eeneR again! Pictures.
  12. Ooh ooh! I'll be there! I was wondering what I was going to do for lunch...I'm off of work today, and I live two blocks away from Union Station. Yay! I get to meet jraf and MissKris! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  13. Just thought I'd post more textbook disclaimer stickers created by an evolutionary biology professor at Swarthmore College...very amusing. http://www.swarthmore.edu/NatSci/cpurrin1/textbookdisclaimers/ _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  14. Gary Jules' cover of Mad World (originally Tears for Fears) It became a sleeper hit with the help of its appearance on the Donnie Darko soundtrack. Very haunting and beautiful. _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

  16. Yeah, I remember that one, too. In that one you could fly up into space and rock out with some aliens... _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  17. Oh yah...MST3K rocks! My (whuffo) friend started buying all of the DVDs when they were first released, and one night he came over for dinner with "The Skydivers" in hand. It was so funny yet so painful to watch! Afterwards, AndyMan and I had to cleanse our minds of the awful skydiving movie, so we popped in Joe Jenning's "Good Stuff." The pushing cars out of planes thing always impresses our whuffo friends. _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  18. I'm surprised the product search comes up with THREE matches for this, but no product when you click on the links! 19. Yeah, that's what I thought, too! With his leg in mid-count! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  20. Didn't say it was a fact. I said it was supporting evidence that kids raised by same-sex parents turn out pretty much the same as any other kid in terms of being well-adjusted individuals in society. Just like kids of two skydivers, or kids of two immigrants, or kids of two fat people, or kids of two whatever-happens-to-be-the-same-trait/characteristic. Okay, where is your "right-leaning" psychological study that supports that most kids of same-sex parents are fucked up? Hm? So, by that logic, infertile heterosexual couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt, either. Interesting. _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
  21. Yah, I agree, too. However, as you well know, there are some people here who claim that most, if not all children of same-sex parents turn out emotionally damaged simply because their parents are the same sex. Just wanted to post information showing evidence against that baseless theory!
  22. Kids of same-sex parents On measures of psychosocial well-being, school functioning and romantic relationships and behaviors, teens with same-sex parents are as well-adjusted as their peers with opposite-sex parents, a new study finds. A more important predictor of teens' psychological and social adjustment, it found, is the quality of the relationships they have with their parents. "This is the first study that has looked at adolescents with same-sex parents in a national sample, and it shows clearly across a wide range of variables that they're doing pretty well," said study author Charlotte J. Patterson, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. The research, published in the November issue of Child Development, draws data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, a school-based study of the health-related behaviors of kids in Grades 7 through 12. 24. Is there anything like "WhirleyBall" where you live? I love this game...great for large groups.
  25. Cos I think it's interesting and important for people to be aware about what an Iraqi American has to say about the "Mess O' Potamia." Okay, also cos he's my friend, and I'd like to support his efforts, too. Chicagoland people--go see it at the Gene Siskel Film Center tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 20) at 7pm! _Pm __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
