That's an excellent book! I love all the wordplay in it. Never read it as a kid, though. About a year ago, I met the guy who did the illustrations -- Jules Feiffer, who wrote and illustrated a pretty good book himself called A Barrel of Laughs, A Vale of Tears. Silly TSA officer! What did that comment have to do with anything? Did he think you were going to jump from a commercial aircraft? At 23,000' in a pressurized cabin, you wouldn't even be able to open the door. Very cool! The BBC Radio series of the Hitchhiker's Guide is quite good, too. The TV series...not so good but amusing in a camp sort of way. I second this sentiment. However, I really didn't like Mostly Harmless (The Fifth Book in the Increasingly Inaccurately Named Hitchhiker's Trilogy). It just seems like he was rushing to finish the book because of pressure from the publishers. Stick to the first four books. I'm very interested to see his posthumously published sixth book of the series. Another interesting read is Don't Panic: The Official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Companion by Neil Gaiman, who has written some really awesome graphic novels, as well as "regular" novels. -P Edited because I'm a lame speller at 7:30 in the morning! __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

Ah well..I tried! It still is a good program, though. It's great because all of my friends are on different services, and I don't have to keep three different applications open to talk to them. Oh, it's going to totally rock when you go solo! On my first solo (which wasn't too long ago), freefall was incredible, scary as crap, and fun as hell. I jumped from a CASA (tailgate), and my JM and I flipped a couple times right after we exited. Earth...sky...earth...sky! I was experiencing some major sensory overload but having the time of my life. After deployment, my rainbow canopy was the prettiest thing I had ever seen in my life. Then being able to fly the canopy on my own -- indescribable! Excitement beyond words.

My parents sent me a stuffed "westie" toy to replace my dog that died about 7-8 years ago. I swear...my mom wrote this on the card: "Dad got you a new 'Nestlé' [name of said dead dog] . . . Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year." And get this -- if I squeeze its left paw, it says a variety of things in a disgustingly cute voice including: "Let's be friends!" "Please take me home!" "Please pick me up!" "Will you play with me?" "What's your name?" and lastly... "I love you!" My parents are soooo weird. Last year, I got a 20GB MP3 player. What happened?! I think they must be upset because I started skydiving. Oh well, they did give me a hefty check, which is the real gift in their eyes (I hope). Don't know what the sister and brother have gotten me, yet...but I imagine I'll find out in a few days.
