Or the cost for correct grammar in the ad? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

... I have never felt so old in my life--other than after I had to say "30" out loud to the OBGYN nurse who asked my age the other day. Talk to me when you're 40. And yeah, I remember Rage from college, too, so that makes it all the worse for me. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

True...but there is only one thing I am interested in, and if it is anything else, I'd like to redonate it to be drawn on again! I'll PM you if I win anything to see if you want to trade! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Hey, have you heard of this place called McDonalds? I've never been there, but I got this exclusive offer on TV, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Would you like to check it out with me? "Um, no thanks, I don't really like that place. But you go ahead." You have to get her to agree to the date in the first place! Sheesh. My answer would be to ask him or her out on the date like this: "Have you heard of this restaurant? I've never been there, but I got this offer in the mail, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Would you like to check it out with me?" Problem solved.

Back to commenting on the original post: I've only seen a few incidental references in replies to the harm that this guy poses to the rest of us. You can't realize that you have a knucklehead on the plane until after you've seen him or her do something stupid in the air. For me, that's too late (I have my own inexperience and progression to keep me plenty busy, thanks!) to decide to jump elsewhere. Note that I'm referring to Stan, so please don't knock me for generalizations inferred to any other situation. A DZ who let's Stan jump per his own demands is letting Stan put everyone else at risk too, particularly WRT canopy deployment and flight. The guidelines/regulations so extensively quoted and dissected here are also intended to keep jumpers safe from the inexperience of each other. Food for thought.

And he still was a good businessman, right up to the end. The estate tax was suspended for 2010. Coincidence? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Once I read this, I went straight to Netflix and watched. I don't usually like films with subtitles, but this was EXCELLENT! So true to the book, and very well done! The only thing they really couldn't include for the sake of time was more of Lisbeth's history, how she came to be a ward of the state into adulthood, and her relationship with her previous guardian. Those things become important in Book 2, so perhaps they're addressed in the second movie? I wouldn't watch an American version, if one is made, after watching this one. and if they can't fix your car to the condition pre-collision, then they can feel free to call it "totalled" and give you the money to replace it. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I thought it was Levi's turn last year, when Lance decided to come back. Levi is a true team player, so of course he supported the team plan. Since things have gone so badly for Lance, then I also hope the team will rally around Levi to get him his win this year! Okay, first, ew! I can't stand a guy who wears a lot of cologne! Definitely NOT the way to get action, in my book. Second, I like to use scented body wash because I like the way it smells in the shower. I haven't had it stay on my skin once dry (unless I use the same scent in a lotion). Besides, bar soap can erode away, depending on where it's kept in the shower. As for the poofs/loofas -- I prefer shower gloves. They are easier to clean, give me that good scrub, and make the gel foam up better. I use less shower gel (body wash) when I use the gloves. I know what that's like! Between work, injuries, other responsibilities on my demo team (I was one of the primary DZSOs, so I was usually pulling dirt during team jumping days), and other hobbies, it took me quite awhile to get my license! Keep plugging away, though. Don't let anyone give you crap about taking some time to get it done, either. Sure, I got some good-natured ribbing from the DZ folks, but that's it. Just do what you do, and stay safe when you DO get in the air! Good luck. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Two songs, both by Rise Against: "Injection" (AFF students can probably relate) and "Ready to Fall." I also get "Survive" in my mind when I'm in the tunnel, but that's for the music, not necessarily the lyrics. Last Z-Hills scramble I found "Sober" by Tool in my head, but again, probably for the riffs more the lyrics. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

+1 (or whatever number we're up to). Been there, done that. Luckily, I listened to similar warnings from others and cut away before it was too late. To look at it from another angle: you had this perfect image of her for so long, that it's tough to see the real situation. However, as noted by others here, the details you chose to post (and those you did not post) speak volumes about where you really are in this situation. Point of reference: The bridge is outside Twin Falls, not Idaho Falls (BTW, in between is American Falls ). A slightly longer drive from Salt Lake, but not much! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I second Skymama's comment. Over the course of about a year I went online and read a lot about all the different types of canopies, and during that process had several extensive conversations with my riggers about what that all MEANS. I jumped the rental gear at the DZ until after I got my license, and only bought my own gear at that point because I was getting ready to leave the country and wanted my own stuff to jump elsewhere. I definitely recommend getting your skills down first before trying to put a kit together. I'd also say that at least at my home DZ, the rental rigs are well suited for a jumper your height and weight. If that is a trend across the country, then you'll be very well served sticking with that gear for awhile. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I was with a group that did a lot of tandems for newbies. The advice I gave to them before going up about breathing was this: when you feel like you can't catch your breath, force air out. It seems to make all the difference in the world. Not sure if it's the relaxation that comes with the exhale, or they're just hyperventilating, but when they came down, every single tandem passenger told me that technique worked. Hope it is the same for you! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
