the update:
The paid ticket is in my hand !
I went to two dZ's this weekend to feel them out. I will say no names, but let's say today was a learning experience....
Needless to say, one Zone was in operation today, small and in the middle of nowhere, I got there in time to watch a few land, but the people there seemed to be in " clicks " I don't over expect things out of people, but let's just say, I didn't feel at home at all... Could have been me. But I tend to go by " surroundings " just like walking into one of those bars where you just know your either leaving in a cop car or a meat wagon..
The second dZ was empty, but I decided to go in, one worker sitting behind the desk, Introduced myself and the next thing I knew 4 hours had passed by.
It was funny after leaving the first place I questioned if this sport was going to be promising. considering I would most likely spend half my weekend waiting for a lift, I was hoping to find a ": second home "
The 4 hours he and I spent talking about everything, he had an answer for. Everytime I said I was sorry for asking so many questions he laughed and pushed me to ask more questions.
I warned him that I could very easily become a fixture upon his Dz with my interest in wanting to learn how to pack and just be there if they ever needed any help, he laughed; and welcomed me to the family.
So I walked out with a total change in mind set of Dz's , the hardest part is out of the way, ticket in hand, a few bumper stickers and a AFF manual.
So now, It's just a matter of getting that phone call telling me to suit up, jump out and do it again, again, again!
