  1. I wanna know what drugs they were taking when they decided that "Impact" was a good name for a jump suit. I'm just sayin....

I'll take you word for it, but it wasn't very straightforward when I tried. The Open Files dialog only gives their formats as options.

Far as I can tell, Paralog doesn't support importing and visualizing GPX or KML files. Just their proprietary jump log files.
  4. That's awesome lurch. I'm still pretty new to wingsuiting, and this is probably no big deal for the more experienced birds. But I had a jump pilot fly side-by-side with me today, and the feeling of flying... not falling... FLYING... WITH AN AIRPLANE... was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. And I've had my fair share. I was on a high for a good hour.

I just bought a QStarz BT-Q1000eX. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and I'm still in the process of using it correctly, but it logs at 5Hz and definitely doesn't seem to have any issues picking up and holding a signal. I usually turn it on briefly right before boarding the plane so that it can get a lock, turn it back on at altitude and throw it in my suit under the zipper. Can anyone recommend some decent visualization/analysis software? Google Earth is cool but doesn't offer much in the analytics department.
  6. Wrongo! You see... ketchup is red. Red is the official color of Communism. Since I am anti-ketchup-on-bratwursts, that makes me anti-red, which in turn makes me a Mom, Pop, Apple Pie & Only Mustard & Kraut On Bratwursts Patriot kinda guy.
  7. DOH! Golden opportunity missed! But thanks for the tip. I need to keep that in mind when I start my flame war on BBQ sauce next!
  8. See... now you're giving away our tried and proven trolling secrets! Don't do that!
  9. Wow. I'm impressed that I was actually able to troll that successfully on something as basic as brats. I need to start food fights in here more often!
  10. Sriracha hot vietnamese sauce is win on fries.
  11. So I take it the idea is to try to make instruction more focused by breaking the coaching program into sub-specializations?
  12. For some of us the joy is in the creative process. The creation itself can oftentimes be secondary. My problem is actually finishing things that I start, so keep that momentum up!
  13. Hence the debate. Actually I think it's safe to say that no one here advocates placing students in equipment that's so advanced as to be clearly dangerous (like, say, placing a student on a Velocity loaded at 3.0). We can roughly categorize beginner wingsuits as: Preferred, Sub-Optimal and No-Freaking-Way. The biggest portion of this debate has been which of those three categories Wingsuit X falls into. Some, such as the Intro and Prodigy, fall clearly in the "Preferred" category. The hottest debates seem to be with regard to whether older suits, "advanced" for their times, such as the S3, still fall in the third category or are more Sub-Optimal in light of the current knowledge base. While I'd retract my earlier statement of an S3 being a "fine" beginner's suit, right now it's my only choice, and I'm still learning in it pending delivery of my Phantom 2. My own noob personal take on the S3? It's pretty stable to fly. It's a friggging bitch to fly well. It's a better suit (for me anyway) to cover ground than maximize FF time. There is a fair amount of fabric between you and the hacky come pull time. So expect some fumbling around the first few times. Those are the biggest things I notice. YMMV...
  14. People are making this wayyyy too complex. If you have to waddle when you're zipped up... if people tell you you look like a penguin and/or a flying squirrel... you're in a wingsuit.
  15. Wait. There's another person on this earth who actually claims to 13 as their lucky number? I've literally received job offers on two seperate Friday the 13ths.
  16. Nassssty line twists! Way to show that canopy who's in charge!
  17. Without adding anything in the way of commentary, since that seems to always get me in trouble, I'll add the linky to Phoenix-Fly's wingsuit recommendations here.. For the record, I have a Phantom 2 on order and am well within their recommended jump margin. Thing can't get here soon enough.
  18. I've been busting out wingsuit jumps on an S3 as, more or less, a beginner. I don't see it as a bad beginner wingsuit, it's not hard to control. That said, the extra fabric adds to fatigue, which can be an issue come pull time. But other than that, it's a fine all-around suit.
  19. That's OK. I'm built like a flabby cinderblock. Hop on my back and we'll fly base for the freefliers.
  20. Awesome idea! Count me in if y'all think I have enough experience by then.
