  1. She specifically stated that she didn't want that particular rigger to touch her rig but he went about it while she wasn't there. I agree with you that it's your rig, your money, your life, your choice. We managed to get another rigger to repack it but now there's alot of shit we have to deal with. If there was another dz in this country we probably would jump there but there isn't really. But we'll see what happens, who knows maybe we move to SA sometime. To somewhere where one is free to question the short comings of others who should know better and not get threats and property vandalised as a result. Time will tell... ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  2. No, you misunderstood, She approached another rigger that she trusted and he said he was busy, she must accept what she gets. She did not approach the rigger in question nor gave him permission in any way to touch her rig. The way it works at our dz, (might not be the best way), is there's a board with reserve repack dates on them and whenever one is close to expiring, a rigger will just take it and repack it. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  3. Hey there, Sorry for the long delay...but we do fly wingsuits!!! Haha...hmm. Well it's taken me a while but finally have some pics of my new love to share with you guys. Tonto, imagine flocking along side this baby. The biscuit bird was a surprise bake from my wife. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  4. The problemo would be that the rigger in question is also the rigger examiner!!! I printed the capewell doc and spoke to the rigger about it but he came up with a poor excuse. At the time, I didn't have the info I have now. I would'nt mind becoming a rigger myself but I reckon I'd go do it in SA. Mel did approach another rigger before the repack took place but he tuned he was too busy and that she must just accept what she gets. But basically it's come down to a clique that has formed who are childish enough to make threats and make not so subtle messages. I know that a clique is normal in skydiving but the way that they are going about it is just plain wrong. End of the day the guilty will get what they deserve. But Mel and I won't stoop to their level. Why can't we all just get along? Stay safe out there boys and girls. Cheers. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  5. Oh yeah, no doubt about that. Was just a surprise for all of us who recently watched the dvd. We were all like: "Hey where'd he come from?" Actually saw him in action while they were in Swakop, quite a talented dude. Still, nice to see my home town get it's 15mins. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  6. Went onto their site and the opening pic caught my eye. I recognised that mist...it's my home!!! Swakopmund, Namibia. They were there a coupla years back filming SoulFlyers. Btw, for those who have seen the dvd, that black dude with the funky guitar....he's no local!!! Cheers. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  7. Jump #7, was going to be my last static line before my first freefall, ironically I didn't have line twists as my previous 6 but had a pressure knot-uncontrolled right turn...ended up being my first freefall aswell. Second was around #120, premature brake release after the scariest, shittiest spinning opening on my Stiletto 150, (it never opened like that). I didn't pack it but it freaked me out enough to convince me something was wrong so chop-chop!!! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  8. I've just started flying wingsuits and only have 7 jumps to my name but last 6 were with my Stiletto 135 and first and last jump had a tiny line twist prob due to bad body position, the rest have been sweet openings. jump what you're comfortable with that gives cool openings. Adios. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  9. Howzit!!! nothing compared to any of your times, but just did a jump from 10300' opening at 3500', 81 sec averaging 53mph. 6th jump on my GTi, 7th birdman jump. Can't wait for more alt at end of year boogie!!! And my buddy Bruns did his first Birdman jump today and was pretty stoked to say the least. Pity I'm the only one here with a suit. Cheers, Courteney, Birdman of the Namib. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  10. Haha, not likely. But you never know, maybe one day he'll come round to the idea. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  11. Hi there, Can anyone tell me if there are any wrist mounted flotation devices on the market for Skydiving and at what cost? Thanks, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  12. Hey there, Well my Gti finally arrived on Friday morning and WOOOHOOOOO!!!! She is beautiful, royal blue body with black wings. Weather was a bit shit but managed 4 jumps over the weekend. First flight managed 70" FF for +-7000' altitude averaged 70mph. Line twists, no worries, even managed to grab my risers for the next 3 jumps. AWESOME!!! A HUGE THANKS GOES OUT TO KIMBERLEY AT BIRDMAN AND TONTO FROM JSC FOR ALL THEIR HELP!!!! Pics to follow as soon as my pc works again. There is now 1 birdman in Namibia if any of you wanna flock!!! Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  13. Cool looking suit man, Will be getting my GTi at end of the month. It, (should) have black wings and royal blue body. it's good that you posted that cos I was wondering how exactly the royal blue looked like. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  14. Cool man, When were you in Namibia? Hahaha. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  15. Nah, then you'd just end up with mild, watery soup!!! ;-) ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  16. And if resetting it doesn't work out, try calling a young priest and an old priest...;-) ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  17. I get the occasional laugh when I do it, but fuckit, force of habit and it isn't a bad habit to have. Whenever I'm filming I actually forget that I'm the camera man and "don't need to wave off", but when pull time comes I go through what I was taught. If the experienced camera man was under at break off and didn't really move to clear sky then he wasn't looking after himself and you should'nt feel wrong about "burning altitude". Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  18. Shit man, My deepest sympathy to you and a big R.I.P. to your camera. Possibly that clip wasn't mated well. What kind of quality clip was it? If you don't mind me asking. I've seen various makes and models some I wouldn't trust with a disposable camera. Only camera thingy I've lost so far, was a chin cup from a brand new bat rak. One of those with the release clips reversed, (you pull on them with your thumbs instead of pushing). Got swung hard outta Grand Caravan doing stills for tandem, (pilot didn't throttle back enough) and it came loose and after exit it enjoyed ff alone. If it wasn't for that back clip I would've lost the entire helmet. Since then no one at our dz uses that type of clip. Good luck with new cam, Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  19. Howzit, I cut off the hand strap, heard there might be away to remove it...something to do with those tiny screws but it was just too awkard for me to hold with it anyway. The cover where the CamEyeII goes can be "bent" upwards enough not to cut it off. Mine fits just fine in my new style D-box whilst bent upwards. Enjoy the camera, hope this helped somewhat. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  20. Yep! Suggested I must get a Cypres as I'm getting my first wingsuit soon. Will be the first local jumper in my country to have one. And although I know Birdman suggests having one, finacialy atm I can't afford it. (will get one sometime). So he used that as an example. Thanks for the thread btw. Can tell him the truth when he returns from the states. Take it easy. Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  21. Hey there, Heard from someone who had been to the Herc Boogie that there was +-3 Cypres fires and they were all on wingsuits. Was just wondering if that was true and IF so, what happened. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  22. Highest: +-15500' Lowest aircraft: +-3000' Only BASE so far: +-225' ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  23. DON'T FUCKING QUIT!!!! Take a break get back and jump!!! You appreciate it more. Dive till the "v" falls away!!! ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  24. I tell you dz politics are the biggest mood killer/motivational breaker there is. I used to average around 30 jumps a month, (don't work there jump mainly weekends), and because of politics I've started to jump less, (that is until I get me Bird suit). Never let the bullshit get you down. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
  25. Hey there, Ok, sorry for the delay. So here it is for all you interested for something different for Dec. http://www.desertboogie2004.iwarp.com There's going to be a Twin Caravan, (Cessna 406), Grand Caravan, and a chopper plus 2x 206's for students. Last time we averaged 14500' with the 406. See ya all there. Cheers, Courteney. ...drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
