  1. I agree, great for tracking and wingsuit because it is right there and easy to see. Probably even good for free flying. For CRW it is a snag point. I never liked the pillows and wedges because while in the harness they tend to ride higher so you have to crank in your chin to see it. Ilike the smooth no snag pockets on the suit where you can see them easily. 2. I have seen a pocket like that before but is was a retrofit and it was located on the upper arm. I use a pocket on the leg but thinking about adding an additional one onthe upper arm. 4. I have hybrid and did no special ordering. To answer your questions. 1. It is not true unless you specify you want all lines dacron or the out side and inside A line dacron. The default configuration as it stands is inside A lines dacron. 2. While I do agree specta is bad for doing CRW and even though the hybrid could be used for agressive CRW, I don't think that the intention of the canopy was for agressive CRW since there is a competition CRW model of the tri. With that being said I think the Hybrid would best be used for very non agressive CRW and only stacking/ plane ups and the occaisional (with experienced dogs only) downplanes. It would make a great demo canopy for shows since they land really great. If it were ordered with all dacron lines then that would change everything pertaining to how the canopy should be used. 5. Ouch. Who put you up to that? There is not a single person out there that would ever join the club that would have them as a member. No even you. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  6. Non of us are perfect thus the need to cutaway once and a while. I used to try to be a inspriation to others, now I'm just back to basics with just taking care of myself. In the process if someone can get something from me in an insprirational manner then good, but I won't take credit since I wasn't trying. Interaction with others is always a learning process now and then even if the lesson is an example of what not to do. 7. Thanks. Sometimes just cutting away from people or situations is enough no need to pull the reserve immediately. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  8. Find something new or in some cases someone new to distract you. Pretty soon you'll forget all about what/who was pissing you off. Someone else stated they remove themselves from the people or situtation that brings that out in them. Good advice. Sometimes it's not that easy but when you have to do it you know when and how. I went through it a few times and told each and every person when I was done, that I was done- the end. (in more or less words) The latest was easier because of all the time I had to do that before. Now I'm so distracted with other things and people. They and the situation doesn't even really cross my mind and when it does I just shrug it off and move on to another thought- no emotion involved. 9. Yup, good old fashioned cave man arm strength is the most reliable. I hear time and again at skills camps about having the strength to manuever. All those other tools can get in the way if not used properly. 10. Yes but I'm going to guess we are referring to Crew dogs with some experience, who can get in very timely. If you were waiting for slow/low experience pokes this may take longer. I've hung and waited long enough on jumps that I was no good once my turn came finally. It all depends on how long you can hold it. This the reason why just about every riser set you see with the expereinced Dogs is custom. I use what I use because I modified a set I had to match what I jumped when I went to a newbie camp and then saw new things asked questions developed technique and modified some more until I have what I like now. I think that is just about the way everyone did it since everything is custom modified on each and every rig. It is a personal thing that you just have to sort of firgure out on your own through watching, asking what certain equipment is used for and why, and trial and error. everyone's flying is a bit different so different stuff on the risers are used between jumpers. 11. It's not worth it in my opinion to make a spectre a hybrid (freefall/ CRW) canopy. If you had a trathalon that needed a reline then I would say go for it, if you just wanted a casual CRW canopy. Either way I would attend a newbie camp either just to try it or for any other reason. then you can decide if best if you want a dedicated canopy of one for "casual CRW" Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

  13. It used to be that you could take a challenge test and be parachutist qualified but the army did away with that. so at one point have civilian training did help you in that regard. That isn't the same as busting your ass doing PT and risking the broken legs and ankles. 14. Yes after the 5 from the Army school in Benning we need to do additional jumps to get the gold wings. and from different aircraft. Here is more on the subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachutist_Badge_(United_States)#Navy.2FMarine_Corps Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  15. Thanks. They are doing well beause we are all doing something right. I actually learned something about the way to explain and present information about performing in CRW. 16. This is interesting. The Marines won't let anything cross from civilian at all. To get selected for Airborne school first you have to have an MOS that needs to use that skill, IE- RECON or ANGLICO, then we have a more intense physical fitness test than the army to pre qualify for the school. Then once at the Army Airborne school it is 5 static line for basic parachutist. We don't wear all those other badges, after becoming more advanced we wear these. 17. I was on the jump it was a 7 stack therefore no 8 stack can be awarded. On a technical note awards are not "signed off" as a proficiency, they are awarded as an accomplishment. I also helped her fill out the form. No bigger jumps with her invlovement were made after that, only 4 ways. I jumped with her the whole time. There will be plenty of opportunities for her to make other awards and I hope she gets them all. Anna improved much for having done CRW for only 2 weekends. From what I hear Gary and Jorge did very well in the learning curve too. Promts to Gary for landing a lightning standing up. Look for the names of those who got awarded in Parachutist Edited for grammar and spelling Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  18. It was a 4 stack but still quite an accomplishment for having so few CRW jumps. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  19. You need to be familiar with FAR part 105. I found this out the hard way trying to find out how to file a NOTAM for a jump. Those instructions are not in the SIM. www.FAA.gov look up FARs and read 105 it explains how to file a notam. By the way, the 7711-2 in the sim gets filed with local FSDO office at least 30 days prior and the NOTAM is at least 48 hours in advance to the nearest flight service, which are two different places. the 7711-2 gets filed first then once approved you file the NOTAM. The SIM also doesn't tell you that you can use google earth for an aerial view of the landing area and that you will need to learn how to read an air sectional map to give VOR and nautical mile radiuses of the DZ for clearance and Nautical mile distance to the nearest tower. It also doesn't explain the proceedure for comm with the tower on take off, 2 min prior to jumping and after the jumper is out. If you are using a pilot that isn't a jump pilot you have to brief your pilot on this. For some reason all this stuff is a big secret and I had to really dig and search to get most of this info the hard way. I was fortunate enough to have one or two people give me some good info. I believe in sharing. PM if you have any other questions. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  20. Do any demo jumpers in south Florida know where I can find a pilot and C-182? I have an event and my leads for finding air lfit are running thin. PM me or post here. Thanks. Moral Courage

I have heard that before. Good line. This one may not have much to do with the topic, "I would never join any club that would have me as a member" I can't remember who said that. Part of moral courage, I think, is trying your best not to be hipocritical. The old do as I say not as I do thing. Moral Courage

I'm courious to see what others ideas of Moral Courage is. My idea is doing the right thing for the right reasons inthe right way regardless if it means you will be in some sort of trouble or not. Also righting wrongs, not that we should get involved in others peoples business and be heros, but if you are already involved somehow and you see a wrong or a potential wrong would you try to fix it or stop it? I can't say I always have but I do believe in having the Moral Courage to say something. 25. This is a very good statement! g Relationships are dynamic. they always change. This is where communicating expectations and boundaries being set are important. Yes there should be a level of trust if there isn't that means a boundary or a percieved boundary that was set has been stepped over. I agree to some level. I guess my question(s) to that are: 1) If the people entered into the relationship and it was known that 1 (or both) individuals are flirts (and for argument's sake, let's say that nothing is meant by the flirting of either as they are happy in their relationship), wouldn't it be ridiculous to expect a person to change who they are? 2) Shouldn't there be a level of trust - again, assuming that each individual is happy with their relationship? (And, obviously, both questions are not valid if the flirting is serious and an attempt to get out of the relationship, etc.) Relationships are dynamic. they always change. This is where communicating expectations and boundaries being set are important. Yes there should be a level of trust if there isn't that means a boundary or a percieved boundary that wasn't set has been stepped over. edited to add. The person shouldn't feel like they are changing who they are rather than changing how they respect the relationship. If either or both don't want to respect the relationship then that starts another dicussion.
