Cummings was one of the people I dealt with when I was buying my first set of gear. In ended up NOT buying from him - not because his prices were bad, but because he was just as pompous on the phone as he comes across in his ads. "I came up with this idea, I'm the only one to do this, my prices are better than all others..." And on the last comment, I quoted someone else's price on something and he refused to meet it saying he wouldn't make enough off of it then. Wildblue - I ADORE your monkey! Easy - are you comfortable jumping without it? If not - then wait. I have been unconscious in freefall. Don't wanna go there again - but if it happens, my cypres will be on. Would I ever make a jump or two without one? Sure - but I'll never own a rig without a cypres. And all that bunk about relying too heavily on your AAD is just that - bunk. I can't imagine ever thinking "Shit - I have a mal! I better do something quick - oh, nevermind.... I'll just wait for my cypres to fire." Fall in dove.

Yup - I hear ya Gretchen. I would say my life pretty much sucks shit right now - I feel your pain! But hey - Xkeys is such a cool place I'd go just to hang out with the cool people even if I couldn't jump. You'd be surprised how much you can learn on the ground - not to mention how much fun and mischief you can get involved in there! I'll be up there for some $10 midweek jumping (OMG!) in a few weeks - trying to turn things around. Whenever things work out for you - skydiving will be here waiting. Though there are lots of things I wish I had not done or done differently - who knows where I would be today if I changed it. My life is not perfect now - not even close - but there are a lot of people and experiences that I would not want to lose. So I'd have to say I'd change nothing. I do have regrets tho.... Even if you don't get anyone from here to meet you - cool thing about skydiving is even if you go out not knowing anyone, you'll still meet plenty of cool people and make new friends. Wow. The cheap jumps at SDSD sound tempting. But I was there in 2000 just after I got off student status. I liked it, but I've always wanted to try Perris and Elsinore out too. Maybe I can take the redeye out on Monday and jump that day too so I can do more than one - or all! Hmmmmmm.... Fall in dove.
