  1. my bad -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  2. So a guy from Europe who claims to have 4000 jumps and already jumps a demon wants advice on how to deal with the manufacturer? Please....next... -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  3. Just out of curiosity. What is it about your fx that you dislike. The ONLY thing that I don't like is the riser pressure, but I wouldn't want to alter the design perameters to fix it. I get beautiful on heading openings on my 104 jumping at high alt in CO. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  4. If you want a Xaos, just buy one. Don't ruin your fx. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  5. I'm sorry this happened to you. Hopefully I will not turn gay after 2000 jumps. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  6. Alot of problems occur when you roll your tail, lay it down and walk around to cock the pilot chute. By letting go of your roll, you allow it to unroll when you flatten out the pack job. Sometimes it unrolls almost all the way (slammer) and sometimes not so much(snivel). Make sure that you keep control of the roll in your tail until it's in the bag. -We are the Swoophaters. 7. You should probably move this thread to the canopy control forum. You will get some better feedback there. I jump in CO where the various dz's range from 4000' to 6500' ASL. I can land my fx loaded at 2:1 in half brakes even when the density altitude is up around 9500' no problem. If you learn at a high altitude dz, the higher speeds and altitude loss just seem normal. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  8. That is what we call induced line twists. I am hoping the this person will share with us what happened to cause that. Be it over piloting or some other situation. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  9. Just want to say thanks for posting. That 666 sitting on the thread count was freakin me out. And who ever really knows exactly how accurate their alti is? Just use it as a back up to double check visual reference. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  10. I only see two choices. The other two canopies are very similar in swoopability. It is more an issue of piloting as far as better swoops. Choose the lower wing loading and the better price. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  11. I actually would not expect a person with 500 jumps to react that way to a swoop, so we are really only dealing with very low time jumpers. And you cannot tell someone who really wants to swoop not to. I feel that the best thing you can do is explain to them that safe swooping does not happen overnight and offer them some basic tips....and then show them your scars. -We are the Swoophaters. 12. I don't know man, but I would take that half twist out of the loop. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  13. My concern is that someone would become accustomed to rears to the point of using them to dig out of a low turn and stalling at a high rate of speed and possibly still in the dive.-That is a great runon sentence.- -We are the Swoophaters. 14. It's a completely different animal. And yes, a 114 vx is huge, but if you can load a wing that size high enough to make it perform you will eventually get some serious distance. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  15. Buy it. Get someone at your DZ to fill you in on the little differences in flight and enjoy. You will never look back. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  16. Thanks mom. I'll try it. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  17. I don't get quite the harness reaction I want on the Fx. I usually will finish with harness as opposed to starting with it. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  18. Set up higher than normal in brakes. This will lessen the initial riser pressure. When you reach your entry point, let the canopy surge and grab both fronts pulling further on the side you are turning toward. Use both to adjust for altitude as you turn. You should be out of the turn with enough altitude to remain in fronts and adjust altitude. Let them both up with enough altitude that your canopy will plane out on its own. If you stay in them too long, you will find yourself digging out. Done correctly, you should need very little input to start your surf. And what starts smooth, normally remains smooth. I have found this to be a very relaxed and safe approach. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  19. Lose the rag and learn how to swoop on a real canopy. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  20. I started jumping in the military and did not like it. But had to continue whether I liked it or not. Eventually I became comfortable with jumping as a form of flight, which I have always enjoyed. I think it is possible to take up skydiving not for the rush, but for the love of it. Besides, I only get a rush when I screw up a swoop. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  21. I have footage of at least one of Derek's swoops at Canon. It is kind of rough because you can't help but get a little nervous when someone zings past you at 70+. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  22. Does anyone have details about the meet at Brush this sunday. Just trying to get a feel for the level of interest and what will be involoved. Thanks -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  23. 426:1 Probably could have kicked out, but it wasn't worth finding out. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  24. Pilots of smaller wings that do not require much rear riser input to flatten the glide will often pull out on rear risers to get back from long spots. As far as landing with rears, there are as many techniques as pilots. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  25. I am just saying that the picture in question is not a good example for the question being asked. It would not be easy to pull the fronts like that on a canopy that was loaded at landing. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
