  1. True. When you need to drop on a dime, a rear riser stall would be a good way to go about it. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  2. I avoid other traffic like the plague. I do this by doing 3.5K hop & Pops, pulling at the top, or doing pre-planned high pulls at say 6K. In my last 100 jumps only 20 have involved freefall. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  3. Hey, no advertising! -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  4. If you want to fly a higher loading at a low jump number, you have to be willing to compromise on other things. You need to do a shitload of hop & pops. Preferably with an empty sky and learn learn learn. You will have to forget about freefall for a while. Believe me, I know. -We are the Swoophaters. 5. I totally agree with you on this downsizing issue. I also believe that there are people out there such as myself that would rather leave the sport than put 500 jumps on a boring canopy. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  6. I would always rather see my friend come back with half of my rig, than my rig come back with half of my friend. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  7. This is why when you lay it on the floor you keep your hold on that roll while smoothing out the canopy with your free hand. Do not let go of the roll until you lay on the canopy. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  8. I usually did not worry about that part of the tail as much because it is not directly in front of the nose. You actually want your slider to catch as much air as possible while delaying the nose inflation. As long as the tail is tightly rolled and you keep enough tension on it (keeping it pulled toward the topskin), you should be good to go. -We are the Swoophaters. 9. I agree with you but I would add that it is good to go with the general consensus of the more experienced canopy pilots at the dz. If they are comfortable with your ability level, then go with it. But if you are constantly catching flack about your landings, and are hearing experienced people say that you scared them, you should probably rethink what you are doing. -We are the Swoophaters. 10. Do what jumperconway said. But I will add my own advice to it. Pencil roll at the second seam down from the slider. Roll it at least 13 times. Hold on to the roll when you lay the canopy down and never lose control of it. You should be able to feel it when you lay down on the canopy. -We are the Swoophaters. 11. You're gonna be " Livin in a van down by the river!" -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  12. I personally think that being a good "skydiver" and being a good "canopy pilot" are entirely seperate. You can be one and not the other. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  13. After reading the thread on getting grounded for wing loading to high. I am curious about how many of us actually fall within these recommendations. I myself have been above the number since recieving my A license. Thanks -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  14. I let dem shits go wit pride baby yeah!!!! -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  15. Since I myself jump a highly loaded canopy at relatively low jump numbers, take this with a grain of salt. If you are a person who is dedicated to canopy flight above all else, have more hop&pops than freefalls, get consistant coaching, and have respect for what can happen, you can probably handle a highly loaded canopy at a relatively low jump number. Also get comfortable with the fact that you WILL get hurt in the process at some point. Hopefully not badly. Peeeeeeeeeeeeace! -We are the Swoophaters. 16. A stiletto loaded at @ 2.1 has already lost quite a bit of efficiency. I would probably not mess with rears on that canopy at that loading. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  17. I would think that if you had enough open airspace to safely do the turn, traffic would not be an issue. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  18. Hell no! Rock climbing is dangerous! -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  19. Supp Aylett. Don't worry about the time so much. It technically took me four+ years to get mine, and I only use it to pack and maintain my own gear. Peace. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  20. You're not kidding about the 104. I have lost circulation in my fingers before when I didn't get in brakes before my turn. It really makes me feel like the canopy is hauling ass though....sweet! -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  21. Who is that out front in the second pic that looks to be pulling off a toe drag just about the entire length of the pond? Friggin sweet mane! -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  22. Yeah, and the pilot in the second shot looks like he still had alot left. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  23. Thanks for putting yourself out there bro. I haven't been this entertained by a thread in a long time. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  24. Considering that I will do a carving 180 from 500 feet in Colorado on an FX104, I think you would just be using more airspace by taking your turn up higher. I think you will find it quite challenging to eat up 600 feet in a 180 on a stiletto 135. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
  25. Ugly bro...go bigger...seriously. -We are the Swoophaters. We have travelled back in time to hate on your swoops.-
