Finally Starting AFF in Turkey
marksaadet27 replied to marksaadet27's topic in Introductions and Greets
Well finally my AFF has started and I would just like to comment on the course I am taking across the pond in Turkey. Now being a complete newcomer to skydiving its been a refreshing experience at my DZ. The reason I say this is because its a requirement to undertake 3 days ground school and on the 4th day you complete a written and pratical exam. Now I have spent a lot of time researching like most students do and I noticed that the standard ground school time is around 6hrs. Having completed the ground school on all the possible full and partial malfunctions and when to cut away and correct body and exit position I personally feel 6hrs is too short (Brain overload). Yes the subjects are repeated on each of the three days but I must admit I do feel that in the event of a malfunction (god forbid) the training and knowledge I have been given willl become an automatic response he says hopefully!!!! Anyway I just wanted to let you good people know that its blue skys all the way and I will keep you posted how I get on. Stay safe -

Skydiving with hip replacement
marksaadet27 replied to marksaadet27's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As I wait for my pending AFF course wait wait wait!!!!!! there is just one question I want to ask. Although I would say I am pritty fit I have a hip replacement. Now thats never stopped me doing crazy things in the past skiing motorcycles jet skis bla bla bla but is there any guys out there who have similar ailements and are jumping without any issues. Having only completed one tandem jump so far which was not the most confortable I would assume that when you have your own chute the body harness is a lot more comfortable. Or is there additional padding you could use to give more comfort. Thanks guys and gals blue skies and stay safe -

They do say life begins after 40 so after making the decision to go for my first tandem skydive I can now confirm it certainly does. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!! So like many before me the phrase TOTALLY HOOKED rings true. The guys at DZEFES in Selcuk Turkey were fantastic and very professional. So the decision is made to go for my AFF. The only point I want to raise and maybe the seasoned/experienced can shed some light on this. Are tandem jumps usually so bloody uncomfortable. Normally I would say its enough to put you of the sport for life. The free fall was one hell of a rush but once the chute deployed I seemed to loose all feeling in my arms. And then there was the instant nausea which put a slight downer on things. Now I am not overweight athletic build but my weight is 95kgs at 6ft 1in would you say this is normal for a first jump and would you expect the same on the AFF course? The good thing after all that is that I am still going for the AFF course and my class A licence HOOOOOO RAAAAAA!!!!! Glad to be part of the forum and all you guys stay safe.
