  1. Yeah, imagine how harrison ford felt when he divorced. He lost like 215 million dollars to his "wife". That would suck. Sorry for the hijack. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  2. I hear ya. We salute you for that. But they say it never pays off to take the easy way out. Bullsh!t, I'm gonna be homeless when I grow up!! -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  3. ^^^ 10-4.... Day after tomorrow, IAD level 1... Can't wait!! -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  4. ^^^Yeah I read the average homeless person makes 27-30 grand a year. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  5. Good luck! Let us know how tomorrow goes. I'm curious though, what were you most disappointed with yourself over? Did the FF not go right, or was it pertaining to the canopy? -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  6. I understand. I'll keep to myself for a while. I'm just obsessed with this stuff and love TRYING to talk about it. I do have a lot more to learn though before I'm really able to dish out advice. My bad.
  7. It would be non-biased because you're building a relationship with the particular instructors, building trust because you see them on a weekly basis, and you're paying them (very well) for ACCURATE info. THAT'S why it'd be non-biased. Maybe you misunderstood my post. Oops...... I was just saying alot of things on this website should be taken with a grain of salt. For example, when people like me post or anyone posts for that matter, it's merely for conversation ,and for the sharing of opinion. I thought that's what this website was for. Didn't know there was a pre-requisite number of jumps that you had to have before entering discussion. Or maybe you guys are just chumps and have nothing better to do than to try and make me feel bad. All the veterans in the world can jump my ass about posting. I promise, I won't stop until I'm told by a moderator or banned from the site. Which I don't see happening in the foreseeable future due to the fact that I've done nothing wrong. I hope to not ever meet skydivers as big-headed and arrogant as you two. How could any of us new guys learn anything from an instructor if they carried the attitude that you do? For the record, will you guys please fill me in on any and all "advice" or posts that I've put up that was derogatory, inaccurate, stupid, etc.??? I'd just like to know. EDIT: I wanna apologize for the second to last paragraph. I realize that entire post made me sound like a newbie just trying to defend myself. For that I'm sorry. But I DO know my limitations. I'm acutely aware of the fact that there is TONS of stuff that I don't know about this sport/hobby yet. I do only post on threads that I feel I could contribute to. And yes, all i have is literature based knowledge, and conversationally based knowledge. So once again, everybody who reads this, DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT I SAY. lol -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  8. Hey Mangiapane85, maybe you should do a skydive before you start giving advice. Reading DZ.com or gear reviews will not give the the EXPERIENCE needed to give advice to newbies. Get off my nuts man! You're startin to freak me out. Did you read the last sentence in my post by chance?? Drrrr... nope... you prolly didn't, did you? At least I'm trying to stay on topic with the threads, and not hijackin' them all. If you wanna complain, pm me. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  9. Oh Gee timmyfitz, I'm sorry that it bothers you that much that I'm trying to encourage someone. Not once in that post did I give "advice." I know my place dude.Pretty much every thread I post in I provide a disclaimer that says i haven't jumped yet, so I'm sure nobody takes any "advice" that I type. So if you're trying to disgruntle me, it won't work. I'm here to learn what I can, and on the weekends I go to my DZ and talk to as many people as i can to learn tangible, non-biased information. Which is what all you experienced jumpers tell us "newbies" to do, right? So please enlighten me... What's it to you if I post something, regardless of what it says? Has it effected your life at all??... Didn't think so.. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  10. Any updates? Have you corrected the issue at all? -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  11. You're gonna do fine. Maybe even better cuz you won't have the instructors hanging on your arms effecting your exit. You'll be able to focus on good form immediately out of the door. Reading all of your posts, I'm confident you wont have issues. Now go out there and nail it, then let us hear about it! -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  12. theonlyski, thanks for correcting that. What did I do wrong? I copied and pasted the link. Was there something else I should've done? -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  13. Ok, I gotcha heatmiser. Thanks for clearin that up. I'm going to be level headed throughout it all, I promise. I know I'm a newbie, I'm definitely not gonna act like I know everything.
  14. I found this thread with a quick search of 9cell vs 7cell. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2463997;search_string=7cell%20vs%209%20cell;#2463997 It's pretty informative. Sounds like staying with a 9 cell would be ideal for you. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  15. When did I do that??... And what do you mean by that? GLIDEANGLE as well as the other posters that're commentig on the "fear factor" thing... Keep in mind, i didnt ever say fear wouldn't be a factor AT ALL. I merely said i don't think it'll be OVERWHELMING (ie. backing out at the last second, crying, cussing at the instructors., pooping myself, etc.). A little fear personally drives me to do things, and perform them better as I would if I wasn't "under pressure." Yes, I've never skydived, but I've come to many points in my life where I was faced with a fearful/dangerous situation, and I've always prevailed, albeit using a level head throughout the entire event. Thanks for the comments again everyone. This sunday, I will "face the music." I'll be sure to keep you guys filled in on how it goes.
  16. The Sabre 2 is my favorite canopy of all that I've been researching. What I've gathered is that it's a pretty aggressive 9 cell in terms of glide descent. And it's not the most forgiving (especially for students I wouldn't think). The Sabre2 has a wingload rating of 168 pounds with a 210 for a STUDENT. For novices, it goes up to 189. Given that you're at a 190 exit weight, then it sounds like it could be a pretty good canopy for ya. Again, this is just speculation cuz I've never jumped one (or anything yet for that matter), so take all that as you will. And I'll agree with Billvon. When I read your post, the first thing I thought of was weather conditions, atmospheric pressure, wind differences, etc. Or it could just be what floats that particular DZ's "boat." Either way, good luck and keep us posted on how you improve, after all, i'm sure you will. Practice makes perfect. :) -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  17. ^^Ditto. Sorry I don't have 100,000 jumps and I'm not 120 years old. I forgot to mention in my earlier post,... talk to your AFFi's. They can give you more tangible advice. I'm just a youngster though.
  18. ^^^Agreed. And next time, if you happen to do this "cannonball" type exit you speak of, try not to be in the same position when it comes deployment time. At least remember to do that, and you'll probably be okay. And arching never hurts either. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  19. Pretty Simple really: Take her to DZ and show her what goes on, sweet talk her, keep talking her head off about it, and give her great lovin's in the bed. Then repeat... -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  20. Just wanted to let you know skymama, I got my girlfriend to accept the fact of me skydiving... on top of that, she's also going WITH me on an IAD jump next Sunday! Heck yeah!! -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  21. Ive read a few stories on this site about how people are getting burned out on the sport, and a few have actually said they're quitting all together. I don't understand this, because even if you were to become a little, ummm, complacent I guess, with jumping out of planes, then you could always move to a different form or level of the sport. Go higher, start base, skyboard, etc. Or keep another extreme sport as a hobby and kind of mix it up (ie. kayaking, diving, cliff jumps, etc.) Thats the way I intend on doing it anyway. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  22. I was looking through your logs, and I noticed that it says S/L jumps dont credit towards obtaining your license... Why is this? IAD jumps do. ?? Even the "non" freefall jumps. -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  23. I myself will be starting my IAD progression the sunday after next (closest thing to static line) and can't wait! Welcome to the obsession! Good luck, see ya in the air!
  24. Oh gotcha. Well keep up the good work. You're movin right along! -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
  25. what do you mean you stopped turning by straightening your legs? Just curious, I thought they needed to be at about a 45 degree angle to complete the arch. ? -FEAR IS TEMPORARY...REGRET IS FOREVER! -"People living deeply have no fear of death"- Anais Nin
