I think I MIGHT make it... of course being my home DZ, and as well as being on staff, I think I'd get my ass kicked for not going. I'll be there too... :) (Like i'd miss the biggest party of the year in the state... sha!...as if!) Keep your eyes open for a DZ.com area... I think Mountainman is putting that one together.
-
not a good example. be honest... if it wasnt illegal, we'd still do it... just scare the crap out of alot more downtown office workers.... "pardon me, excuse me, pardon me............. roof acccess please. (the sound of us working our way onto the express elevator of the local downtown hi rise)

The best time you can have with your clothes on.... and then again, there is nakedness too, so you can have fun no matter what. :) I know Mountainman is setting up a dz.com area at the boogie so we can all get together a finally meet. I say we do a DZ.com jump. I am SURE we can at least get a 4 way. :)

Do what I did.... CAREFULLY pull the cover off by taking a pair of needle nose pliers, and pulling as close to where the cover goes into the camera. it will pull right out. file down the barb just a weee bit( to make it easier to remove later), and it will go back on when ya need it to. As for the Dbox, I use an XJaket for my PC5, and I just cut a hole... the molded plug sits nicely and doesnt stick out much. I also found at least with the Xjakets, you dont have to cut off the hand strap. just use a razor blade to carefully detatch the pad(by removing the stitching), unscrew the grip extension, and the strap unthreads from the grip. whats left now curls up neatly into the dead space of your Dbox(hopefully).

In reply to: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dude!! I am not going to be loading it that much. By the time I get the main after ordering it, it will be more like 1.2:1. Either way, I haven't ordered it yet, so maybe I'll demo the 189 and find that to be good enough for me and I'll just stick with that. I'm not trying to shun you guys, Wildblue!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had the same response, I Have seen him fly canopies, and know those recommending the canopies.... He'll be OK. :) I'd be doing coach dives with him if I wasnt so damn skinny... that boy falls like a rock! Roy (C-30705, SL/JM. D and SL/I pending)

Whats your Name and what do you do for a living?
cameramonkey replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
You know why he is so popular? he gives the regular Joe the reassurance that if someone that fat and ugly can get into porn, the rest of us have a shot. LOL For those of you that dont know, hes a fat, ugly porn star with your average um... "Tool". Nothing outstanding that you would think would have gotten him into those films. I still think its an industry secret that he really pays THEM to be in the films, and he makes his money elsewhere. My name is Roy and I'm a skyaholic. I just cant get past step one of the 12 steps because I dont wanna quit! (step one is admitting your problem) I am a self employed computer network engineer. -
Just be careful whatever you use. Remember that some chemicals can cause lexan, and similar clear plastics to break down and either scratch very easily (if you are lucky) or as bad as causing the plastic to frost and become semi opaque.

Most would call us "trouble"... well, at least the whuffos in town at the bars and restaurants anyway LOL

Although there are seemingly alot of fatalaties in those 8 years, but I'm curious how Roger's fatalaty and injury reports stack up. and NOT ruling out self transport type injuries. ANY injury requiring attention at a medical facility since some DZO's prefer self transport so they dont have to claim an injury. I am curious how those numbers compare with the national averages based on a jump to injury/fatality ratio.

Take my advice and do what I did. Buy the cheapest airworthy rig you need (not want NEED). drop in a cypres. Jump it for 50 or so jumps. By then, you'll be bored. THEN buy a $3000 rig. that way you wont outgrow it right away. If you dont do that, you either risk losing alot of $$ right off, or risk bodily injury by downsizing to something you wouldnt be ready for until 50-100 jumps from now. If you still insist on spending $3k for a new first rig, I have a great deal for ya... a 1995 Racer SST with a 26' phantom reserve (round) and PD190 main with only 800 or so jumps on it... what a steal ;) LOL. I'll even hand deliver it anywhere in the states for that price!!! LOL

Just an interesting note... I do beleive the gentleman complaining about the jumpers punching clouds over Frankfort (second response from top) is the most avid person trying to close down Skydive Indiana for supposed safety reasons.(There's a reason the FAA didnt respond... there wasnt a safety issue)

Define the term "win". I seem to remember hearing several reports thru the years about a jumper striking a wing of an airplane in the wrong place at the wrong time. The jumpers survived (not well, but alive as in broken/severed limbs, paralysis, etc) but the plane stopped flying and killed the pilot because the force of said jumper removed said wing. causing the airplane to become VERY un-airworthy. Am I crazy, or didnt several jumpers survive those types of encounters? (yes, I know I'm crazy regardless)

Base rigs have reserves?

How fast can ya pack? Faster than it takes security to get to the roof? hope so LOL Or were we talking about landing the helecopter there?
-
hey Sangiro, did you get my private message last week? Hadnt heard from you and was just curious what you think of the idea. Roy
-
well, besides being expensive and not practical above 3000 feet (technical issues) in flight use of cell phones is technically illegal. ;) I was thinking the same thing with two FRS radios and headsets. Seems practical as long as you are within a half mile of each other. Roy

Camera helmets related to deaths? PC110 and helmet
cameramonkey replied to shotat's topic in Photography and Video
Jeannie, If you could find a way to replace the hinge pin on the Bat Rak with a removeable pin, as well as a way to release one side of the tension strap on the back of the head, the helmet would just fall right off the head of the wearer. :) -
Just remember that our freindly FAA mandates that the guages only are accurate at empty... in theory they can show dead on full up until it reached zero and it is still considered airworthy... You'll notice that most pilots dont even use the guages... we base our flights on time and fuel consumption.

Even better... no sex and no beer as well. Wait, I think that would be considered inhumane (checking copy of Genevea Convention) Anyway, being jumpers, they wouldnt last a week with all three of the restrictions... I give them a month without my additions.

I saw it on TV myself....

Curious Sangrio... From one geek to another, why not leave the chat room open all the time?

We are pretty lucky here in in Indiana. There is currently a dispute between a nearby DZ and the airport board. Luckilly for us, one of the news stations here either has a staff member that jumps there, or at least is a close freind (not sure which).Oddly enough I have noticed that the stories on this subject are amazingly accurate... go figure. :) Now if only the rest of the news outlets had in house experts like that.

No bumpers on your links I assume?

Mine was self induced packing. I packed a step thru on my 35th jump, and it opened beautifully into a line over. :( Although, the nice thing is that I did finally get a round jump in.... I had a 26' Phantom in that rig. scary, but amazingly fun. All this talk about mals made me think of a morbid thing to tell my students... when they ask "do we have to pay for the repack if we use the reserve?" to which I respond "Please dont hesitate to pull your reserve handle... its much easier to repack a reserve than it is to get the (blood) stains out." God I can have a morbid sense of humor sometimes.
