  1. Preliminary NTSB findings are here (4 pages) Interesting reading. The car saw her 6 seconds out. At 1.3 seconds it determined that emergency braking was required but The car was travelling at 43 mph. According to this page (using its default deceleration rate) the car could have slowed to 17 mph which would have probably been survivable. Rubbish for her but they should be able to develop the software to make this scenario survivable.
  2. They were being talkative, "PFBD" would have done.
  3. www.skyleague.com Go to the archives, then the schedule and you should be able to get the draw from there.
  4. The UK nationals allows foreign teams in as Open teams. They are allowed to win the competition and receive gold medals. They would not be the British National Champions if they did so. The highest placed British team would also win gold medals, 2nd and 3rd British team also getting medals, a foreign team will get medals only if they win, no other positions. We don't have the Open / Advanced division that you do, all AAA teams compete against each other. Not meant to take away from your point though
  5. Apparently they wanted to change 13 to be offset -> spinner but only realised that the offset was the bottom of the existing block 1 at the meeting so had to come up with something new for block 1 and picked a simple change. Take a hunt through the skyleague news for some more I like the new 13 although I miss the centre swapping of the old 13 and the unusual moves that it threw up. I'm less keen on the new 1 but that might change when we can get the hill catches.
  6. Bedford are now routinely putting 2 fliers and 2 instructors in there. They do a 1st flight on you own then (I think) 2 flights with another person in there, so the punter gets 3 flights for the price of 2. That's a fairly recent development in there. The airlock system is somewhat different to SkyVenture as Bedford doesn't require the doors shut, it's a noise control issue whereas SkyVenture design requires a degree of "pressurisation". That is my understanding at least.
  7. No, ask your rigger if you can visit him/her while packing a reserve and do it on a real rig instead. The hanging harness has probably been used a few hundred times and the velcro is nowhere near as strong as the ones you have on a normal rig. If you just want to peel / pull the cutaway you can just do that the next time you are at the DZ, no repack required, then you can get the feel of how easy / hard the cutaway on your gear is. Get an instructor / rigger / experienced jumper to check you over while doing it so stop anything silly from happening
  8. thanks, kirk - all I see on skyleague is the scores - 40 to 40 I read your note as AS bust 2 points to tie the round? it's hard for me to see AS not win this meet - but if it were to happen, then at least it's down to the wire and needed a really amazing round to do it Omniskore.com shows the busts as well if you want to check. You have to click on the team number to see the piccie and below the piccie is the link to the score sheets. All 10 rounds for a team on the same page so not too many pages to click through
  9. It's round 1. 10,7,12 All the Airspeed rounds are on youtube, search for US Team. The french and us ones have been on www.skyleague.com and also linked from facebook from the Airspeed page and from the ParaMag page respectively
  10. Do you mean the attached dprime pic? It's only mirrored through one axis. The complete mirror image does not make sense. The 2nd example and your reply is predicated on the fact that 1 & 3 are the IC and OC, right? . Yes and yes, based upon our A slot B an 14
  11. Recco reflector from skiing equipment. The reflector is pretty small, a couple of cm across, requires no power etc. Only a couple of £ each. Its just sown onto the equipment. To find requires a detector which is bigger and more expensive (few hundred / early thousands not looked) The reflector works by passively doubling the frequency of the transmitted signal so easy for it to spot. It would take a significant installed base for it to be worth DZs getting the equipment
  12. The mirror to D would be our standard (airspeed trained) minimising the move from point to the A. In the 2nd example, although its quicker as you have it for the next formation the centers will typically have to 180 back into the center negating the benefit. Depends on the next transition and how trained the team is with the opposite 14.
  13. What point are you trying to get here? Advanced class winners won with a 13.1 average. We did that in the UK as an entirely self funded team. Nothing special that any weekend team in the US could do. Then you have the open class for all the big boys to go play in. Is there anyone in open that is complaining that they need another class to keep them away from the sponsored teams?
  14. You won't have one yet. You need one when you might get to represent your country in international comp
  15. I have a W-8 and a Kat 107 in it for 1000 jumps. It is small but is just ok. I have the loop very small which keeps tension on it. Its been checked by several riggers and wings dealers. The wings is about 5 years old, I believe that they may have changed their sizing in that time but I'm not certain about that. I have put a demo 97 in there but I wouldn't buy one and put it in. hope that helps. The advice to stay with the 120 for a while longer isn't too bad either. Whats another couple of hundred jumps before the downsize?
