Crossfire-2 To be delieverred tomorrow
Dazzle replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
That's what I though when I had on earlier this year:-) How are you loading it? I tried the 129, 119 and then the 109 ending up at 1.8. I was expecting the 109 to be the canopy too far but really enjoyed it. I loved the sensitivity to the harness. Real easy to fly just by leaning. -
I believe that the UK advanced rigger exam requires them to make a rig. I believe that generally they use the design of an existing model. I also believe that they then get destroyed although I'm not sure if that is being taken apart to inspect it or just destroying it afterwards. from http://www.bpa.org.uk/forms/docs/Form%20201%20-%20Advanced%20Riggers%20Course%20(Syllabus).doc

Can I ask why you thought the crossfire (2?) fell short? I ask because I demod one recently and thought it was great and am inteested in any downsides people see. My stilletto was loaded about 1.5 now about 1.25 (belly shrinkage:-) ) and I was on a variety of crossfires, 129, 119 and 109 @ ~1.8 I've yet to get on a stiletto smaller than 135 but I have put a number of jumps on a vengence 120 and 1 jump on a vengence 107 (I know 1 doesn't mean anthing esp. as all I did was fly it back and land.)

I believe that the J1 was sized for a 170 F111 or a 150 ZP so this may be the source of the confusion.

Cat 10 first - since when? You can get FF1 after you have IC1 no flat flying "required" FF1 and FS1 are put at the same level in the sticker hierarchy along with IS1 and CF1. I know Langar want you to pass the 2 way WARP levels (for their IC1+) before free flying which seems sensible to me.

This'll upset Remi - the AN 72 from Espace last week.
-
Empuria had them fairly regulaarly - however at last christmas Richie wasn't organising them. He said something about moreregulation / liability issues and wasn't doing them until he'd sorted that out. Don't know if they've sorted them out since then.

would it be worthwhile going to the Espace boogie this year?
Dazzle replied to Newbie's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yep, not sure if my freeflying will be up to groups there so may be back on my belly! As I understood it they were thinking of having the Antanov in the years that the Herc boogie isn't on so you may get another chance. -

Apparently that isn't the sporting license though. I believe Pete Knight telling me that he had to get a special license for the 300 way

Back from a long break (pardon the pun)
Dazzle replied to cgross's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You wanted to go back - you could have been sunning yourselves in the uk at the mo! -
Not at all, the consumer make a choice about what fuel they choose and the only price relevent there is the one they pay, differential taxing can play a part in that. For instance LPG only has 100% tax on it rather than the 400% on petrol giving people an incentive to buy cars that will run on it and then the supply builds to meet that demand. Equally if the fuel costs enough then people won't use it so wastefully. You don't get many people driveing 15mpg cars over here. Now it may be a brave decision for a politician to take but thats your choice and not OPECs
-
And what have they got to do with it? In the UK 80% of the price of petrol is tax so we pay through the nose and there is an incentive to use it more economically. America may choose not to do that but how expensive is your choice not OPECs.

At the Espace boogie recently they were checking the chest straps of everyone as they went to the boarding area. Didn't seem to be too much effort, certainly not compared to the checks that we do in the uk. Except of course for those staff members who were running to the plane with rigs over their shoulders - 20 mins after we were all told that everyone had to go through the check. Trust the french not to enforce their own rules!
