The skyvan that Langar gets in visits various dzs so you might be able to arrange with a dz to get it in if you can guarantee the business - it's based in Belgium, at least the pilot is from there, I don't know if he has a home dz or just travels. Lapalisse have their own Skyvan based there and apparently have an Otter as well (apparently cause it wasn't there when I last was) but as Vicki says France has an all cypres rule. Ampuria is another obvious choice as a world class dz but you hit that cypres rule again.

Difference from a 280 down to a 170?
Dazzle replied to artistcalledian's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Damn, I'll just have to rewrite my log book as I'm sure I've got 2-300 for the last few years at the same dropzone Never mind one of those instructors who has done 1000+ jumps a year for the last several years. Still it is the UK and it rains all the time and we only jump out of a C206 - or so some would think -

Your gear dealer is a very experienced gear dealer and AFF instructor. You also have some other very experienced instructors available to you there. It's worth having a chat with them about what you have been told here (why not print it off and show them) especially if you are going to be there this weekend. The dealer does have a variety of demo rigs that he would make available to you to assist with downsizing. The advice that you've received here is all very good but you should be wary about believing all that you read on an internet forum from people you don't know with a wide variety of experience. Take that advice and cross check it with your instructors, especially when you have so many with a lot of experience available to you. -
About 150 meters! There are team rooms and a bunkhouse if you dont want a car. We spent the xmas boogie last year in the team rooms and they were fine.

Where are they Paul? All I see is coming soon. And thanks also from us for sunday

20 (mins):0:0 Bad weather all weekend so we went to the tunnel Thanks Paul and Bodyflight UK for opening up for us.

The UK Freefly 'It's a London Thing' Boogie 2005
Dazzle replied to nigelh's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Really? Langars landing area is anywhere on the airfield - not just the mowed area close in. Westons is pretty much the same I believe and I'd have thought the total area is similar (except that there are no gliders at Langar) But in any case the area is plenty large enough not to be a problem to DZJ -
whats the average and highest exit altitude you get AGL?
Dazzle replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At Langar 13,000 to 13'500 Up at Hib over the weekend where 15,000 is regular jump height (except the last load Saturday where they found a lost Tandem and put up a light load and could only get 12k in time, not too shabby at 2000 per min climb rate) -
Stockholm has regular jump prices of £11 and the prices go down from there if you buy into a certain number of jumps, I believe to something ridiculous like £5 if you buy into 500 jumps. Twin Otter and AN28. BA flight cost us £100 and living on the DZ is pretty cheap.

But he's going from a Pilot 168 and wants to stay on a 170. It's not like PD have announced the 135 / 150 is ready. On past performance hanging around waiting for the canopy could take a while. If he was to wait for the 150 then he'd be on it at a wingloading of 1.8 with 500 jumps which is a bit on the high side.

Ahh now thats the difference - sun in uk, rain in florida. We've had nothing but blue sky days here in the uk for the last couple of weeks

Friendly and close in the (south) UK?
Dazzle replied to RossDagley's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Also if you go to Langar, friday tickets are £15. If you go up during the boogie, ie the second weekend there should be a decent number of people there -
How small do PD make the F111 range of PD canopies

Langar Boogie 2 will be on August Bank holiday through to the next weekend. Skyvan should be there (usually is haven't heard for sure) in addition to both caravans (not a 206 in sight!). Usually parties on both weekends (new bar manager so will have to see what he sorts out) Not so close to the South but plenty of us make the trek up. All the facilities you need and with any luck they'll have finishe the new shower block so you won't have to brave the old one! -
Can you describe? 2 rows? How many people do you put in the plane? We just sit on the floor in ours, 16 people, 3 abreast near the pilot then 2 abreast

Oil Price Rise = Jump Ticket Price Rise?
Dazzle replied to Adriandavies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At what point will it be time to call uk jumping a day? When we have the tunnels open for the odd fix and Ampuria / Sweden a short plane ride away with lower prices for weekends and the US / Europe for longer trips. The price can only go so high before it gets worthwhile to go elsewhere more often -
The positioning does matter, there was a post on here sometime recently which said that there was a specified way of sealing in the uk. The post had to do with E (?) thread being used instead of sealing thread and being done so that the pin wouldn't pull, someone responded with the bpa specified way that won't keep the pin closed. Despite that, as you said they're not required.

Some do, I've been once this year. G92 is regular aircraft, they keep mentioning getting a let in as well - this weekend they might well have hintons let as hinton should be shut for the gp. £5 weekend membership fee, £35 season membership, £18 jumps though some uncertainty as to whether they are £21 if you only have weekend membership. Packing hanger, large landing area shared with some gliders but they seem to have that worked out. Directions at www.rafspa.com. Bar onsite though it seems they go off dz for the eve (my assumption) Camping but no bunkhouse. jump I think 9 - 8 sat and 10 - 5 sun though they might have sorted out longer hours for sun by now. Said that they are giving preference to teams this weekend but if they have the second plane then that should be ok.
-
They used to put a min 200 jump limit on for the espace boogie which would kind of imply that there isn't much coaching going on. Freefly coaching might be available. There are a number of low level flat groups but I think that they are more aimed at people who have their FS1. Your best best might be to call them - they don't seem to be very good at replying to emails.

Why not let michelin runners use the new tyre but start them on the grid after the bridgestone runners. Make the grid bridgestone in order of qualifying then the Michelin in their order of qualifying. Let everyone start with fresh tyres and have a proper race and not ruin F! in the US. Will also get really stupid if Schumacher ends up winning the championship by

Yeah cause who would want to go to a boogie that onlys has 3 super otters, a skyvan and a casa, regularly does fantastic jumps and it at a fantastic dropzone - noone ever does that, it's only about the plane The jet rocks but so does the boogie at lapalisse. Either way round it is surely one of the best (if not the best) boogies in europe, unless anyone knows different?

They must have just changed to that donut as a couple of days ago they had a little bit of info on there but a comment that more details soon. Last I heard, from one of the load organisers, was that they didn't know if it would be the AN72 or smaller planes at Lapalisse, he was trying to find that from them. Anything specific that you want to know and I'll see if I can remember.
