One bit of advice I would like to add. Taking care of someone that is dying is very difficult on the caregiver. Remember that it is OK to take some time out to take care of yourself. Go to the American Cancer Society website is you would like some information and/or on support groups for caregivers. I think it is an awesome thing that you are doing to stick with your friend through this process. Hugs, Kim

What is stop down metering? The Zenitar is light, short, and very inexpensive! I was hoping it would be the best choice when I buy the new Digital Rebel XT. Kim

It's the IP5 that doesn't have the LANC. The IP55 is a more squat TRV-style camera. It doesn't say it on the Sony website, but it is on the camera. I checked out the camera at Fry's today, but they had a power outage and couldn't power their cameras for me. Head to sony.com, search ip55 and you'll see some of the specs. It has been a long time! I do believe I should get out and travel again. Soon!

They are only 15 oz., and so tiny! The specs say the quality is the same as the PC 120'ish cameras. This model does have a LANC port that the IP5 and IP7 are missing. So far as I can tell by fingering the camcorder in the store, the only real problem is going to be compatibility with other current miniDV recorders. Has anyone used this yet? What do you guys think?
