  1. Wisdom is all about perspective. We both have lots of wisdom, its just about different things. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  2. I think it is funny that you say to keep personal life separate from business but yet you are posting on here (personal life) while at work (business life), or at least it seems that way as you are posting during normal business hours. And, though you will probably not like what I have to say and get offended, I am NOT trying to suck you into an argument. Just because you don't like what I have to say and that I don't agree with you does not mean I am trying to suck you into an argument. I am just pointing out the fact that it seems like you are talking out of both sides of your mouth, depending on which side serves you the best at the moment. Just like your typical old school thinking corporate America manager and politicians. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  3. I think you should get these guys as guest speakers: Drew Dudley and/or Shawn Anchor "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  4. I'm really not trying to suck you into an argument. Did I over dramatize it a bit, yes. But all in all, it just about different perspectives. Also, there are many more ways to reach lofty goals than to only climb one ladder "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  5. Also, from what you are saying, anyone that has a smart phone or a person thumb/jump drive on them while they are at work should either be fired or reprimanded because they must be stealing work product. Or they should just keep their mouth shut it any injustice happens to them and just be happy they have a job and they are in the wrong anyway and should be fire. 6. It is just an extreme example of what you are suggesting. Though I should change the scenario to be that she does not doe illegal drugs, but drank too much and passed out cold outside her dorm in plain sight with a short skirt on and her junk hanging out (that way she is responsible because she should not have drank that much, worn such a short skirt and passed out so cold with her junk hanging out, I mean how can that poor guy resist). She confronts the guy about it and he admits to it and apologizes and says he tripped and it just slipped in, but she calls the cops anyway. According to your reasoning, she should have be arrested as she was the one drunk in public passed out with her junk hanging out. He was just an innocent guy walking a long and tripped and his junk just slid right in, he is not responsible at all. And she's co-ed, she must have been on illegal drugs as well and deserves to be arrested even more. In that scenario, it is the same because you are saying that even though my co-worker violated me because I left something out that I should not have, and that I was doing something potentially illegal (though only my personal stuff is on my drive, which was a complete assumption on your part) and should be fired or reprimanded, and that I should have just keep my mouth closed and learn my lesson. In the scenario, she did something she should not have done, left something somewhere that it didn't belong, she potentially had illegal drugs in her system, he did admit to it and apologized and said it was an accident, so she not have called the cops and just left it alone, learned her lesson and moved on. Everyone has an opinion and we are never all going to see the same perspective on everything. If you are a manager or a business owner, I hope someone like me never works for you and you never have a situation like this as you may find yourself in some hot water. But then again, I could be completely wrong, we will have to wait and see and we may never see. But if I get fired and they are completely in their legal rights and I am completely wrong, I will certainly let you know and you can be the first to say I told you so. How's that? But, if they fire me and they are not in their legal rights, I get to tell you I told you so But my boss has been know to not take action when she should have several times in the past (and said so to me), so it will be interesting how things turn out. He may just get a slap on the wrist and she may very well tell me to just stop it. She's calling me tomorrow so I'll let you know. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  7. Here's another example, complete different situtation, of what you are suggestioning with not saying anything because I did something not 100% correct and possible illegal: A college co-ed that occansionally does some illegal drugs and did some the same day she got drugged and raped by a top athelete at the school. From what you are suggesting, she should not report it because they might find another illegal drug (besides what she was drugged with) in her system and she might get kicked out of school and possibly arrested for having admitted that she drove her vehicle that night and had illegal substances in her blood. And that she apparently will never get into another school ever or find employment ever because of it. Glad I don't beleive in doing things like that and don't let fear run my life. 8. Some of you guys amaze with what you can pull out the air and make assumptions about. When did I ever say I was putting work product on there. I have work related stuff on there, yes, like my pesonal paysubs and past schedules and a letter & some documentation from an issue I had a little while back, oh my god the travesty. Better fire me now. So you think I should let some one violate and disrepsct me and not do anything out of fear and basically intimidation Remember that when some like this happens to you. And when someone violates you and there is a slight risk of an issue for you, I will expect you to just roll over and act like it was nothing. Aside from that, in your hypothetical situation if they came after me for some like that, especially making accusations that I copied files without proof, I would think that could be construed as retaliatiion. I do take responsibility for forgetting it. But he went way over the line accessing 98% of what he accessed, nor did he have any business accessing it. And I must say Andy (popsjumper), I kind of shocked that you would not be upset considering how disrespectful he was. Regardless, I am letting my boss know as I feel she needs to know that we have such an untrustworthy person that has now has a history of snooping (this isn't the first time he snooped on me) where he should not be which can cause her major problems for her. Plus I aleady sent the email, so too late now. Where I work, they can get fined and sued big time if certain files are accessed. I'm sure the government would love to collect several $1000's if not millions, plus the person winning the lawsuit. So if they want to fire me and keep a walking lawsuit waiting to happen, then more power to them. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  9. Thank you, everyone, for your feedback. Also I figured I would let you guys knew where it stands at the moment and will do my best to keep it short. I sent my co-worker a text asking if he knew who accessed my drive, he admitted to it. Then lies & says he was trying to find out who's it was (didn't need to look at all the files he did to figure that out, or even the ones he looked at as I had several other files that he did not look at that would have told him it was mine, like my resume), plus a folder in the main directory that had my name on it. He did apologize, but then had the nerve to ask for a copy of one of my files To give him a little smidge of credit, it was a list of breweries here in Arizona. I'm letting my boss know tomorrow (wanted to wait a day instead of just firing off an email), as I think she needs to know. To me, if he did it once he will most likely do it again and it may be more confidential that could get my employer big fines. So we will see where it goes. 10. It was on the desk (or could have fallen out of my laptop bag on the floor as I don't recall using it on Monday), but there is only me and my co-worker. I do work in a small conference center so I could see accessing it to see who it belonged to so it could be returned, but on the main directory there is a folder with my full name on it. Once he went farther than that, to me, he crossed the line, especially accessing files with personal letters, financial information, etc. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  11. So I forgot my external hard drive at work on Monday and when I came in today I was looking at the last accessed date on and there are several files and folders with yesterday's date, when I was not here. I know I should have password protected the drive, but I have never left it anywhere before to have to worry about it. So my lovely and apparently very noisy co-worker accessed several things pertaining to personal things, work related things, etc.. I am planning on reporting him to my boss and possibly HR, once I think it through and calm down a bit. But, out of curiosity, how pissed off would you be? 12. FYI, Eloy is very hot in the summer and they tend to stop jumping by 11am due to dust devils (but start early), and are closed Tues & Wed (I believe, or it's Wed & Thurs). However, they are right off the highway so if you were driving by in the morning it would definitely be doable. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  13. I moved from Georgia to Arizona a few years back with only 1 cat. I just put her in her carrier and when I would stop for gas or a rest stop I would open her carrier but she never came out. I think she was too scared. I stopped each night (total of 2 nights) and got a hotel and she would come out then but I think she hardly ate much. For the most part she hid in the hotel rooms but she is not an overly outgoing cat normally and takes her a bit to feel comfortable in a new place. I think she meowed a little bit when I first started out but that didn't last for long. She is definitely not a fan of the car (meows the whole way to the vet & back), but all in all she did fine. If you really don't think your cat(s) will be able to handle the drive maybe get some sedatives and only use them if they start to freak out too much. But I would keep them in the carrier while in the car with a towel or something for a little padding. One for safety and two just cause there is a litter box doesn't mean they will use it and may end up going somewhere else in the truck (so try to make sure, as much as you can, that they both go before you put them in the truck). I would also get a small package of small puppy training pads and put one in the bottom of the carriers just in case, probably on top of the towel (that way you won't have to throw the towel away if they have an accident). I did that with mine and on the road trip she never had an issue and didn't need it. But, since then, seeing I still have a few left, I always put one in the bottom of the carrier and it has come in handy at least twice. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  14. But you could choose neither because you are equally mad at both and there is not one that is more than the other. It took two to tango and both new at least one was in a committed relationship, so why someone required to be more angry at one or the other. They both broke a trust and to some, in that scenario, there is no degree where one gets more anger and one gets less anger. To me, as long as they explain why it is neither then its not an easy out. But there are other variables that could be at play: how long they had been friends, how good of friends, how long was the marriage, how is the spouse, is your friend an easy lay when they get wasted & spouse got them wasted? These could all be answered in the other scenarios but I haven't gotten that far yet. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"

  17. I would say Atlanta GA, Jacksonville FL or even Tallahassee FL. If I remember correctly they were all about the same distance or it was similar driving time. So it depends if you are sharing a ride or not and if so where are they coming from. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"

  19. I psycho pack all the time, pretty much all I have ever done. With a new canopy it is much easier, to me anyway. When I do it I kneel close to the grommets for the slider to keep everything where I want it to be. In the videos I believe they do it from the top side of the canopy instead of the bottom like I do. I have not had any issues and I used to pack student and tandems that way as well. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
  20. Botany of Desire - not sure if it is technically a documentary but it is about the human relationship with plants. Very interesting & somewhat entertaining movie. Killing Us Softly 3: Advertising's Image of Women - not sure what happened to 1 & 2, its more of a lecture but is still pretty interesting. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"

  23. Seeing the OP doesn't have their profile fully filled out (no home dz listed) it would be pretty hard to know even what area of the country they are in. Or they removed their home dz so people won't know where they jump. But if you contact Precision and let them know that an "instructor" recently request a demo for a 100 jump newbie I bet they would be able to figure out who it was and hopefully get it back before they kill themselves or someone else. And hopefully never let that "instructor" order demos again. I am sure they will not tell you who it was but maybe they will let you know what dz it was at. 24. I would say a lot of times the "nice guy" may be trying to over compensate for the lack in another person's life and it can be over-whelming and feel threateding to some (especially if they have had people do things like that and then manipulate them in some way). IMO, the best bet would be to just try to be kind and not try to over compensate. For some people when they see someone hurting they want to make that person feel better. Problem is, you can't make someone feel anything. Maybe try just gestures and not gifts. Also, maybe the "nice guy" is giving what the other person considers mixed signals. The "nice guy" thinks that what he is doing is not too much, but maybe the other person does. Not everyone sees things the same way or from the same perspective. Also, I personally believe that you get what you focus on. For example, if you believe that the "nice guy" always finishes last then you are pretty much only going to find/see people that treat the "nice guy" that way. If you shift you focus (which can take time and work) to a different perspective then you will get different results. There are plenty of people out there that really appreciate a "nice guy", but you have to look in the right place to find them. Another way to look at it is, if you always look out the same window you will see the same view. If you look out a different window (even if it is the one right next to it) you will see a different view. "Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
