  1. But didn't Den 'land' in the middle of his deployment? That's not really landing a wingsuit, just landing a partially inflated canopy. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  2. Check it out. Like Ed, I don't like his chances. Good luck to him, though. It's going to be too cool when someone actually does it. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  3. Paul, were those suits sized for the same person? looking at the arm lengths, it looks like the S3 is for someone smaller. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  4. Sorry man, no way. We ordered ours a week and a half ago, and they won't be here by then either. How big are you? I'm sure we can make something work. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  5. As Ari said, it should be very similar to what you're already jumping. The former owner may have adjusted the break settings , so you may see a difference there. Pull high and do some practice flares, and play with the canopy to get a feel for it, and you should be fine. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  6. Morpheus said 10-12 weeks for the suits. And don't worry, when they get here EVERYONE will know. See y'all in a few weeks. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  7. There's only two sleeve+tail color options, black and white, and only 6 body color options, black, white, blue, red, orange and yellow. So there's only 12 total variations on the suit. I'm sure more colors, different colored wings, etc, will come. Purple would seem to be very popular, and green would be nice too. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  8. Black/Black and Black/White Both look pretty cool, but they'd be awful in the summer. Also, here's a corrected version of Voodew's Red/White suit. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  9. OK. I knew the zippers were all black all the time, but I didn't know that about the material and and vents. I guess everyone will just have to use their imagination a little bit. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  10. No problem man. I used Gimp, a photoshop-like program for linux. It's really not that hard, once you get it figured out. I'm going to whip up Black/Black and Black/White tonight, so people can see those. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  11. I was thinking about blue and white too, but I went with Blue and Black. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  12. With Black? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  13. Cool! When your suit gets here, We'll Tye Dye it. What colors are you getting, anyway? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  14. Here's the pics I was talking about last night. I didn't do a very good job on the white dacron, I think it will look better in real life. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  15. Jason, I just talked to Precious, he says there's 3 or 4 people in Dallas. We should find a way to get ahold of them. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  16. I've never flown anything else, so, no. I can't really think of a reason to have it on one side or the other. I've got hundreds of jumps on my right side mounted sky pimp, and have never had any trouble with it. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  17. Hey Charlie, Have you ever jumped one of these out of a plane? How much trouble are the stiffeners and giant wings while crawling around in a small A/C? Not that it'll matter, I'm still saving my pennies for one already. 4:1, that's amazing. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  18. Good Luck. I've done a raft out of an Otter, but side doors are tough. We had the laid on its side, bottom forward, with everybody around it in the logical way for the way that it would present to the relative wind, i.e. right side people forward of it, left side and riders behind it. It was a tight squeeze, I'm sure a caravan will be even tighter. Our raft was fairly small, only 2 people, BTW. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    Sittin's Hard

Sitting? Something like 70 jumps. What a bitch. Headdown took about 4. I guess I'm built for headdown. Learn to sit first, it's safer and easier to control. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  20. You're on the right track, but I'm not sure torque has anything to do with it. Swoop canopies often have longer line sets to slow down the pendulum effect (you probably learned about this as well). So as you come out of your dive, you swing in front of the canopy, then back behind it. When you start swinging back, you need to apply brakes to keep the canopy planed out. This kills your swoop. This is but one of the many different things that contribute to the way a canopy behaves. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  21. Either would be fine, most people opt for type 17 with mini rings. Type 8 is the wider risers you see around your DZ. They're somewhat stronger, so if you're a big guy, take that into consideration, but you will have a harder time pulling your slider down behind your head, if you're a swooper (doesn't sound like you are). Type 17 are 'mini' risers, the thin (about an inch wide ) risers you may have seen. Large rings have more mechanical advantage during a cutaway, small rings look sleeker. How do you have two different exit weights? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  22. beep, beep, boop... whrrrrrrrr.... ACK. I'm not fighting anything. I'm all free love and puppies. Did he really ban you? You're such a bitch. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  23. My mistake, I didn't realize y'all had things so bad. I guess all the cool Herc boogie videos mislead me. But still, you have BMCIs, and BMIs, so your quite a ways ahead of us. We have two large DZs, and at least 8 medium/small ones, and jump year round. And that's not even counting OK, LA, and AR. Having a BMCI in this part of the world would sure would be nice. And as Tonto pointed out, we're still better off than a lot of other areas. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  24. Maybe 10 years from now, when half the people on the DZ are doing WS jumps, and there's competitions, the world champions will be able to elicit that sort of money for coaching jumps. But wingsuiting isn't freeflying. Yet. How about high speed impact with a very large rock? So, unless you're in Northern Europe, the southeast US, or Cali, you're pretty much out in the cold in terms of Bird Man love. Oh, well. I guess we'll just keep doing what we're doing. But it sure would be nice to be able to get demos. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
