  1. I'm 36, and I supervise a student program that licensed more than 100 students last year. Wanna try again? Thank you. Please substitute 36 for 50 in my statement. Now we can agree. And yes, I know about your student program. How many did you kill last year?
  2. who are sick of picking up remains of 25 year old I-wannabe-a rockstar/pornstar/bankstar/swoopstar... We all are. But yelling at people doesn't change that one bit, and more likely contributes to it. Shah... We are taught to all turn right to avoid another canopy, not left.
  3. Honestly, if the choice is to scare someone by telling the truth vs. telling them "hey don't listen to the haters man, cameras aren't that big a problem" I'd rather tell them the truth. This is a really stupid statement. Do you really think that is the choice? Guess what, you can tell the truth without being an asshole. Fear based learning does not work. It's not "touchy feely" to recognize that. It's just true. People learn much better in a respectful environment. You should know that. But it says a lot that you think that.. And that your your classic sky god buddies Diablo and Dave Lepka think that. Thankfully most people have learned to reject this very old and counterproductive attitude. You guys are the reason sport jumper numbers are dwindling. Nothing to do with calling tandem passengers students or not. Everything to do with asshole, ramen noodle eating 50 year old sky gods.
  4. What the fuck is a guy with your low experience, non-currency, and lack of understanding of skydiving gear doing in a high-performance wingsuit under a low-performance canopy? This coming from a guy who's recent posts show he doesn't know how a deployment system works, ( hint, it works the same from the left side or the right side) who severely busted himself up under a perfectly good canopy, and who with 5 years in the sport is now one of the leading online authorities on every possible topic related to skydiving! Give me a break.
  5. Can somebody please tell me what DZ sends up 100 jump coaches for paid check dives with students? I work at a small DZ but I have never seen that. We use coaches mostly for retrains and creaper work and they are always closely supervised. In air is done mostly by AFFI's or trusted coaches with at least a few hundred jumps. We never charge for a coached jump. At most they pay for our slot but more often we just jump with them. As instructors we make it our business to jump with everyone on a regular basis, from student status to hundreds of jumps. Always checking to see everyone is progressing safely. Has anyone here with less than 200 jumps ever been paid to do a coach jump with a student? I am very curious and guess it is very unlikely.
  6. I'm looking for 7 day a week jumping Which means only Deland. Unless there is a boogie no other drop zone is busy enough to turn very many loads during the week.
  7. The problem here is you have a noob to the sport who starts skydiving and becomes an instructor as fast as he can. He gets five years into the sport, pounds himself into the ground, then gets out of the hospital and declares himself a leading expert in Wingsuiting. He touts his ideas all over the Internet, builds a following for his Wingsuit school and video services, and then submits a self agrandizing and massive conflict of interest proposal to USPA declaring his authority and expertise to regulate Wingsuiting. Of course, no one knows who this person is. But my sense is he is like the other mad geek newbie wingsuiters who would like to pretend their discipline is more complicated and important than it really is. You don't need a FJC to use a jumpsuit. Afterall, Wingsuit is nothing more than a jumpsuit. Certainly their are some things everyone should know about safely flying any jumpsuit. I am all for this person publishing a pamphlet of safety tips. But the attempt to create an industry out of Wingsuit FJC's is so overt and ridiculous it is laughable.
  8. Example/fact: ShotterMG only has 46 posts but has made some very valuable contributions to the Dropzone thread titled: ASSHOLES. Hahaha. Very true. Good one.
  9. Frankly this shit bores the hell out of me! Get a life Says the man with 4693 posts. Unreal.
  10. I have had every container and have found the Vortex has the best fit, best padding, and best price and delivery time of them all. It's very much like a Jav but nearly a thousand bucks cheaper. Check it out.
  11. Hey Pig, do you happen to know anyone who is literate? Someone who can read this thread to you and explain why you come off as such a moron? All your posts are reactionary, angry and aggressive. in other words, you are acting exactly like the close minded, power hungry hig school drop out, angry, typical cop that people are complaining about. You are simply just too stupid to discuss anything. Which is who you are a cop. IMO , you're a real POS. Would love to see you argue without your gun, taser, pepper spray and army of fellow cops behind you. Because that you would never do. You are a coward.
  12. Just remember that while doing tandem wingsuit jumps you should leave the lower latteralls disconnected. I hope that helps. Blue skies
  13. With stats like that she could be a helluva hot swopper. What? How so?
  14. Holy shit man. I would think that last look at the ground wouldn't require an altimeter check before pulling haha Ridiculous. Great video. This is a man trying to kill himself. Don't stand under him.
  15. Now you're blaming the buyers for not questioning the price? Wow. It's common knowledge in skydiving that 'professonals' sometimes get sponsorship in the form of discounted gear. Is Sunpath gives Ian Bobo a new rig every year, it keeps him in pretty, new gear, and then he gets to sell last year's rig to put some cash in his pocket. So this guy, who fancies himself a 'big deal' wingsuiter has a Cypres for sale below market value, and you think the buyers are to blame for not questioning the source of the product? Even people who don't know about gear-based sponsorship probably think that 'big deal' skydivers have it made, and can afford to sell below market cost. Beyond that, who would think that someone who was tyring to (or already had) make a name for themselves in skydiving would sell a stolen Cypres, complete with a serial number that a rigger would be soon recording onto the reserve repack card? You still want to blame the buyers? In the end, the guy was arrested and charged with larceny. I think that's the final word as to who was right or wrong in the transaction. Once again Lepka talks knowingly out his ass and yet doesn't have a clue. fYI...being sponsored does not mean you get "free" rigs to resell at your pleasure. In fact, a sponsored athlete is absolutely not allowed to sell the gear. It is theirs only to use and must be returned when getting new gear. Obviously Lepka knows nothing about "gear based sponsorship", but as usual, is happy to talk out his ass at great lengths on just about any subject one can imagine.
  16. You have never been to START have you? They don't party there. All employees are drug tested. No one stays after jumping. Beer is a bad word and so is atheism. And when he is not incarcerated, Jon Hart gives morality lessons directly from God. This is not your father's DZ! I call Bullshit...they do it so the blatant drug use and freaky sex that always goes on in a LZ is hidden from non-jumpers. Just imagine how long the lines would be at manifest (no, the other kind) if everybody KNEW what really goes on?!
  17. Are you saying you put 36000 miles on your Harley in the last two years? That is damn impressive. You really do love your Harley. You mention the boxers, but I am curious what you think of the K bikes? Might be more to your liking. Oh, I never said Harley's were maintenance pigs. But I would have had I thought of it! Glad to hear yours is not a problem.
  18. Harley's are poser bikes for people who think they look and sound cool. BMW's are performanc machines you can ride on for 8 hours and not want to get off. And no bike has more trouble free maintenance. Like someone said, I have never seen anyone ride a BMW and not fall in love with the performance. Granted though, Harleys look cool parked outside your favorite dive bar.
  19. You guys cut it out. Your one warning.
  20. Yeah, it does suck. Did you even read the title of the thread? The guy starts off saying that the landings 'hurt'. if you read further it turns out that he's got 75 jumps, a 1.3 WL (after putting on 30 lbs since buying the canopy) and that his problems are with no-wind landings. He's the poster child for in-over-his-head. He can land the canopy OK in specific circumstances, but not all. It's only a matter of time before the known circumstances in which he cannot land, no wind, and an unknown circumstance, such as an off landing, come together on the same jump. What then? That's when 'hurting' goes from creating temporary pain to creating real injury. For the record, we teach every student the 3 part flare from jump one at my DZ. I am fully aware of the technique and it's value to all jumpers. However, just getting the guy to finish his flare is not going to change his situation. His WL is too high for his experience on both his main and reserve. As for you jackass, you continue to 'contribute' with your contrarian viewpoints, but still lack the sack to man up and indentify yourself. No name, no location, no proof you're not a 13 year-old kid playnig skydiver in between jerk-off sessions on the internet. How about it? Stand behind your ideas and indentify yourself. Share some details about who you are, where you jump, and what you've done, unless of course all you've 'done' is your hand and a box of tissues. Wow! I really upset you huh Davey boy? Are you ok? That must have been some really reckless advice I gave the OP. What was it? Oh yeah, " talk to you instructors about a 3 stage flare". Yikes! From this Diablo Dick figured out I don't teach students any canopy control.... And you figured out I must be a chronic masturbator! Wow. I take back everything I said. You guys are really smart! :)
  21. You wrote: I'm pretty good at it. I think my advice has merit. We Know. Believe me, we know. :)
  22. Don't worry junior, I am not going to attack your heroes anymore. You don't respect my opinion, that's cool. I am sure you know more than me. My opinion only comes from my current experience working with students. Therre are those who write thousands of words a day on the Internet who apparently form quite different opinions. So I give mine just to provide balance from those who actually skydive and teach in real life. But I guess my advice sucks. Feel free to better inform me. Thanks in advance for your help.
  23. In the real world low timers having trouble with their landings are often unaware how to level their canopy, bleed speed, and finish the flare fast and strong. I.e. The multiple stage flare. It should be taught to them immediately following AFF if not sooner. IMO. The OP's question is typical of such students. It's too bad the Internet instructor skygods on this site all failed to mention it. Instead, they prefer to chastise the student and demand he upsize. To the OP, learn the technique and your problem will be easily fixed.
  24. I would guess your problem can be fixed by learning the 3 stage flare. Many times students don't get taught this technique quickly enough and have trouble as they down size. Learn it from an instructor and you will have it figured out in a couple jumps.
