  1. Brian Germain's books: "Transcending Fear" "The Parachute and Its Pilot" Both good books to read while healing up. First book talks about dealing with fear. 2nd book has to do with landing your parachute in a safe and successful manner. Like you, I was a student on my 2nd solo when I messed up my landing pattern and landed on my left leg thus sustaining a compound tib/fib.
  2. Why do u hate engineers so much? I work around engineers most of the time, and I don't notice half the stuff u notice.
  3. Nice cartoon. Glad you were able to make a stand up landing. Hope I catch you next time you are at the DZ.
  4. UPDATE: I went to see my ortho specialist today for my 6 mo checkup of the leg. Leg is healing well and looks well. The specialist does agree with some of the posters here, that once i heal up fully (which will be in another 6 months), that I will get the plates taken out. He did say that people who did get the plates taken out, usually do pretty well vs leaving them in. Hope to have that surgery later this fall and that will end that chapter in my life. As for solo skydiving, I'm not coming back. I'm happy doing tandems since it takes the fear out of it and I still get to be in the sky and hang out with my friends.
  5. Congrats on your return to the sport. May you get your license very quickly. I had a tib/fib in July. I'm all healed up now, but only doing tandems.
  6. Not a big fan of the tunnel because u don't get the same experience as being up in the sky. Right now I am averaging about a tandem a week. Hopefully will have 50 tandems by fall.
  7. You can all me Sexy! Wait...REALLY! I'm GAY HOT! WOW! THAT'S EPIC! FREAKING A MAN! When you are GAY hot that means you are like FREAKING HOT AS HELL! ALLLLLL RIGHT! Proof of how amazing I really am!
  8. Wow, I guess a lot of people have a lot of tandem jumps too. I am hoping to have 50 by the end of this year. I have 15 so far. They are fun.
  9. can't you just buy them at the local gear store at the DZ?
  10. what is the most tandem jumps someone has ever done (not TI jumps), just someone who does repeat tandems?
  11. Is a great hobby where I have made a lot of good friends. Its just sad that I wasn't able to get my license. Tandems are fun though :)
  12. hehehehehee!!!!! You'll have lots more to throw at that god. But it's all for a good cause. AFF training is fun and you learn a lot.
  13. Thanks! It would be great to learn mre about judging. Skydiving fascinates me, even though I don't do solos anymore. Nothing beats the feeling of being up in the sky, on a sunset jump, feeling the cold air beat against your face
  14. I agree with this, since I see it all the time at the local malls. Then people get upset and honk at each other. This time of year brings out the worst in people.
  15. That's cool that a lot of people like to boogie hop. I wouldnt mind that. Being a judge intrigues me. How do I find out more about that? Keep in mind, I don't have any type of skydiving license and have only been involved with the sport for about a year.
  16. For those of you who are not jumping anymore but still wanting to stay "in the loop" with your friends at the DZ, how do you accomplish that? It is pretty likely that I will not be going back to finishing my licensing. I am a bit too high strung most of the time and my anxiety can be mind crippling at times. I don't want to leave this sport so have been having fun with doing weekly tandem jumps (sometimes even with friends which is way cool). I do hang at the DZ most weekends and still do plan to go to the boogies, and hang out with people, when I can. This could just be my own feelings on this subject, but I do worry I will eventually be just an "outsider" looking in, since I can't actively participate in the jumping. People have suggested that I get involved in doing tunnel time and playing around in there. I have never been a big fan of the tunnel. To me, being in the sky is everything. Feeling the air on your face, floating around up there, seeing the scenery, etc.
  17. Lucky you!!! If I could jump on my own, I actually would go to a holiday boogie.
  18. It seems a lot of people are doing international travel at this time. Fun!!! Not going overseas until March (going to Sydney for about 10 days).
  19. Our dog, I probably will get him some treats and maybe a new collar and leash. The guinea pigs, I donated some money in their name to the local guinea pig rescue.
  20. Jumping in Eloy sounds like fun. Hopefully it isn't too cold there.
