  1. I'm spending Christmas with my family at my brother's house. My mom is secretly hoping he marries his current gf and has been pushing for that Day after Christmas, I get to drive my mom and aunt out to Vegas and spend 3 days with them out there. Ugh. Hoping I get some good gifts. Still need to finish up Christmas shopping this week. Not being able to jump for 2 weeks will suck
  2. Now you can get a job as a financial analyst or project manager and make lotsa money ;)
  3. I'll be out this weekend. Gonna do a big way with my friends tomorrow (that is if the weather cooperates). You are welcome to join in on the fun. I don't think you've ever met me though
  4. I likes the solo cartoon. Glad your solos are coming along well. Like what the others said, landings will come to you, with time. Some days you will do better than others, that's how it seem like it was with me. Have you had a stand up landing yet? With all the jumps I did, I never had a stand up landing :( See you around the DZ.
  5. Brother everyone lies, be it in person or online. It is what it is. But online, when I was online dating, only one girl lied about her height and weight. She was a one date wonder. I don't lie and I never lied when I did online dating. I always stated my TRUE height and that I was stocky. Too bad that a lot of guys did NOT realize how tiny 4'5" is. A lot of times, guys took a double take when they met me for the first time,
  6. skier, but I haven't skiied in years. Last time I went skiing was during winter of 2005, out in the Wisconsin Dells area (downhill skiing). Hurt my neck skiing and developed some back issues, so haven't skied since then.
  7. Very nice girls also don't have egos like YOU!!!! I hope you find someone that lights your fire, one day.
  8. I agree. And it's only going to get worse as airlines try to stuff more people in the planes, and cut down the available flights in order to save money. Driving is always an alternative. Or paying more and flying business or first class.
  9. I'm in no way an experienced jumper (don't have license). But, if I could turn back the clock, I would made more of an effort to find a way to calm my anxiety down, before continuing with AFF. For all the jumps I've done, the tunnel time, finding solutions to my spin issues, the anxiety I have with making split second decisions, is what is preventing me from advancing.
  10. hope you feel better soon. But, you should lay off on the engineering bashing, considering you ARE an engineer too.
  11. I did my first solo right after passing my AFF 8 jump. People (including my instructor) suggested I do that. First solo was pretty fun. You realize how much time you have up there, when you don't have "tasks" to perform and someone watching and grading you on the completion of those tasks. It is advisable to talk over your jump plans with an instructor. That way they can provide you with some input and give you suggestions and advice. Also, after you do your solo jump, you will have to fill out the logbook and get an instructor to sign off on your jump. Enjoy your first solo. It IS a lot of fun Ghost47's suggestions are very spot on. Have fun and enjoy yourself.
  12. congrats also on passing AFF. Now onto solos, coach dives, and packing your own parachute. Have fun. You are almost there :)
  13. thanks! I am having a lot of fun with tandems and it is WAY LESS stressful on my psyche. I may try to get back to doing solos at a later time, but for now I am enjoying doing one tandem a week.
  14. Why do u like to make fun of people who are short???? Tsk, Tsk!!!
  15. Do you like the service? Is it worth it?
  16. I know it is a new service that just came out from Apple. It costs $24.99/yr and is supposed to store the music you have on your comp in iTunes (purchased music AND music that you backed up from CDs and stuff), into somewhere where you can access it with all your Apple devices (iPad, iPod, MacBook, etc). Personally, I think it is a cool way to store music and have access whenever, without having to copy stuff over. Price is not bad either. Anybody use it yet? If so, whatcha think of the service?
  17. I learned to drive on a manual. That was hard as hell esp since, due to my size, I had trouble pushing the clutch all the way down. I currently drive an automatic because it's easier on me. I would prefer to drive a stick (more power), but my height is a deterrent.
  18. Squeak, how long you gonna be at Snore??? It will be cool to meet ya.
  19. Well, after a lot of thinking and other things, I have come to a decision that I am NOT coming back to doing solos again. It is a painful decision and something I am not real happy about, but it is the best decision, esp since I struggle so much with anxiety. I don't want to be a danger to myself OR to others in the sky. I am going to stick with doing tandems (and tandem formations with friends), since that is a safe way to be in the sky. Thanks you all for putting up with all my crazy questions.
  20. Macs are cool and I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro. Now, why can't more games that be played on the Mac, like the new Skyrim game?????
  21. The insurance is employer-provided insurance thru my husband. Currently, we have a HMO plan, we are changing it over to a PPO plan (so I have more choice). I did my research and made sure the employer insurances covered skydiving injuries, even before I started jumping, and they do. I will admit, I am very impatient. Seeing people plan out jumps, do formation jumps, etc. makes me sad that I can't join in with them. Right now I want to practice landing patterns and flaring my landings while doing tandems. I need to get comfortable before I can jump again.
  22. I have to wait till jan to get a 2nd opinion about removing the hardware (gonna change insurances). The worry that I could get hurt and the metal break my bones into pieces, is on the back of my mind. Hence why, even when I do tandems, I tend to baby that leg. If I get the metal removed, how much more down time will I need to heal up fom THAT?
  23. Go out to PB (Pacific Beach) or OB (Ocean Beach). Lots of nice bars on the boardwalk with nubile blondes. It's only about 10 more miles down the I-5 from Solana Beach. Have fun!!!!
