  1. Hey! I know this is a debatable subject, but after reading some posts in the incidents forum I thought I would throw this at ya'll. I have around forty jumps and don't have my own gear. So I just started using a guys rig that doesn't have an RSL. Is this a dumb idea or is forty jumps far enough along to go without one? Thanks for your input! Danielle
  2. I'm on my way to the DZ to finally get my A. I started training a little over a year ago, and was ready to get my license 14 jumps ago, it just never worked out. So it's finally going to be "legal" for me to get out and "play with the big boys"! I'm so excited! Yeah!!
  3. I wear whatever is cheapest at Wal-Mart. Yeah, it doesn't last long but I feel better in it! As far as all theese deep arguments...I really don't think it's that big of a deal! If it makes you feel better wear it if not, then don't! I don't feel like it has all theese deep inner meanings attached to it! It's just make-up!
  4. My name is Danielle and I am like a nanny. I do childcare in peoples homes! I love my work, but it doesn't really pay enough to support my habbit.
  5. This is great! I love the way kids see things! A friend told me about this one: Her friend had just gotten her son a can of soda and from the back seat of the car he asked her what "circumcise" meant. Shocked, she slowly explained the whole procedure to him. After wich, he said "then why does my soda say one circumcise per can?" I thought it was pretty funny! 6. 40 jumps, wich really surprises whuffos! I'm enjoying every jump!
  7. Oh, man, there is so much that i remember! It was my first time even on a dropzone, so I was so amazed with everything! From only having to do like 10 min. of training (tandem). To how we had to sit in the twin otter. My tandem master was the best ever, but was by all means a "skydiving bum"! I guess my most vivid memory was the state of pure elation that I was in when we reached the ground! The whole experience was more amazing than I ever could have imagined! It shows in the video as I do this strange "cheerleader" type jump! I know this is getting long but I have to talk about my first AFF! I was so scared that while standing in the door waiting to exit, I was bawling! I cried so much that my goggles were all fogged up! But, once I faced that fear and exited it was all good! It just clicked! Probably my favorite jump to date! "Life is either a great adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller
  8. Yes, I pray, very regularly! What kind of prayer? For me it is about a relationship with God. So when I pray I just talk to Him! Most of the times when I pray I'm either thanking God or just talking to Him. If you like to call that the "adult equivalent to an imaginary friend" so be it. I do think that it is interesting how many of you pray on the way to altitude. I thought that most skydivers were so into taking risks that they would never think of asking a "greater power" for protection.
  9. Or you tell the seven year old that your babysitting that the sky is beautiful and he says, " It'd be a great day to skydive". (I think he knew what I was thinking)

    Home DZ

Emerald Coast Skydiving, Elberta, AL. (Even though I haven't been there in a while.) 1 C182, but I hear that they are getting a caravan! Yeah!
  11. I'm 23 right now, but my birthdays in Dec. Everyone thinks I'm still in HS though, wich works for me sometimes
  12. I don't know why these other girls aren't getting all that special treatment, but I know that I'll admit to it. And even to enjoying it! Can I help it if I save a little money and I've never had to flash anybody! Never will! "Life is either a great adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller

    I did it!!!

Great Job! Congrats! I donated hair a while back and am now just waiting for mine to get long enough to donate again! It's a great feeling to help out kids like that! I'm so glad to hear about more and more people doing it. And I'm sure you look great, but it doesn't matter what others think as long as you feel great! 14. I have driven for my dz. (Picking up jumpers and bringing them back to the dz after beach jumps.) They paid me with jump tickets, one for each trip I made. It was a lot of fun for me and turned out extremely profitable! "Life is either a great adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller
  15. So I was just wondering, with being a newbie and all. Will I ever get over the desire to wear my skydiving t-shirts all the time? Is this a dorky newbie habit? Will I always want to talk peoples ears off about skydiving? Does it ever pass or should I invest in a whole "skydiving wardrobe"?
  16. May 2000 was my first tandem at Emerald Coast Skydiving in Elberta, AL. (Wich has become my home DZ that I love!) I didn't jump again until Jan. 2001 after that I've been jumping at least every thirty days to stay current! Can't wait until I'm rich like you guys and can jump every weekend!
  17. This is a great conversation! Very funny! On my first tandem when I asked "how long have you been doing this?" My tandem master, knowing his looks added to it, said "Life is great, three weeks ago I was sitting on the side of the road holding a will work for food sign!" I went along with the jump hoping that he was just joking!

    SORRY!

Hey Guys! I just needed to say I'm sorry for offending you guys with the post about fashion! I really don't know what I was thinking. So here I am, (head hanging in shame) humbly apologizing. Please continue to wear whatever you want to the DZ. After all that is what gives the dropzones the character that I love! Sorry! Skygirl "Life is either a great adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller
  19. Is it just me or do skydivers, as a group, really lack fashion sense? From what I've seen most skydivers must be to busy packing and jumping to realize that nobody wears tie-dye anymore. And grown men should not wear bike shorts or leggings, even if they do fit under the jumpsuit better! Is losing your fashion sense something that comes with this sport? I don't ever see me giving up skydiving, but I do have nightmares of me at eighty walking around the dropzone in a navy blue sports bra and black bike shorts.
  20. Hi! I'm a newbie, so I thought I would introduce myself. I'm almost A licenced, I have around 34 jumps. I have really become addicted to skydiving! I jump as often as possible. I'm sure I'll be asking you guys lots of questions! Thanks for welcoming me!
  21. I had only jumped at one other dz before jumping here, so I'm really not qualified to review. But, here is how my visit went.... I only had like 23 jumps when I went to this dz. They were very welcoming and helpful with the pre-jump talk. The landing area is nice and big and easy to find. I'm still using rental gear and even though the gear I got was nice, it was huge! They said that it was the smallest they had. I also had a very hard opening the first jump, must have been something with the packing. Overall, this DZ is pretty good but nowhere near as good as my home DZ, but I guess nothing compares to home!
