It's a shitload easier for alcoholics that are riggers as there's no conflict of interest! 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.

The jury is out on that one... although I tend to agree. To the OP, get over it - or get out. Shit happens and chances are that unusual shit won't bite you twice. Don't go jumping with mental hang-ups. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.

Had a guy from the States turn up at the DZ today from the States with 6000+ jumps and I had to tell him that he couldn't jump because AADs are compulsory in New Zealand and he didn't have one. Thought it would be an idea to help travelling jumpers if there was a registry of countries on this website that AADs are compulsory - starting with New Zealand. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.

With all due respect I totally disagree. The drogue was inflated so tandem terminal was not the issue. If the drogue had been cleared then there would have been a normal deployment after. Why would you want to risk a reserve entanglement with the drouge if it could be avoided? I would spend as much time as I could trying to clear the drogue. Please expand on how you would "deal with an entanglement". I commend the cameraman for his actions and with regard to the initial drogue throw that lead to this situation - let he who is perfect cast the first stone. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.

Over a couple of beers yesterday my mate and I discussed this point and decided that a 'non central drogue system' is in effect better for handcam due to the unsymetrical stance required to shoot video. That being said I'd rather jump a Sigma for other reasons. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.

Giving toggles to students? Was: Fatality - Skydive Orange
Rover replied to AggieDave's topic in Safety and Training
Other TI's have reasons to have the students help flare due to the toggle pressure on some tandem canopies. Sometimes TI's are fatigued and need the help. Sometimes TI's prefer to have the student help so they don't get so fatigued in so few jumps. I don't buy into the 'too fatigued' arguement. If that is truely the case then that TI should not be jumping. If the canopy's toggle pressure is too high, then change the canopy. Use the right tools for the job. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do. -

Making 1st Tandem Jump this weekend ... Any Suggestions
Rover replied to seadream91's topic in Tandem Skydiving
A good yahoo after exit. Air out air in, message to self - relax. Every so often someone gives me the "I couldn't breath" routine. I think they hold their breathe like diving into water, forget to exhale and then mentally shutdown. The yahoo helps get over that situation. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do. -
The hand didn't touch the reserve handle. You can see that the handle catches under the TIs arm. The fact the TI had his arm extended forward to film the passengers face IMO contributed to the incident. 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.

Newbies - start with tandems or something else?
Rover replied to darrenspooner's topic in Photography and Video
I still find it ironic that in some countries 500 jumps is enough to get a tandem rating, as well as the minimum number required to jump camera. I think that jumping camera is far less complex in nature than tandems, and a great way for someone to observe the potential complexities of tandems. Who makes these rules..... 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.
