Help your DZ be efficient in the event of an accident
OhioDreamsChris replied to grimmie's topic in Safety and Training
I agree to a certain extent... it would be a process don't get me wrong...but we do have a national ski Patrol..and every state follows the exact same outline. And yes it would be be best under uspa...national and state trainers..some paid some volunteer..and the good Samaritan act covers almost everything...except complete negligence...was just a thought...hope all dz have a good plan is all -
Help your DZ be efficient in the event of an accident
OhioDreamsChris replied to grimmie's topic in Safety and Training
As a new skydiver and avid skier (having competed in freesytle events in upper levels and coach x games athletes) I was curious how many dz have any type of emergency protocol similar to a ski areas ski patrol. I am on ski patrol on a local hill in Ohio and have my outdoor emergency certificate...very similar to a first responder certificate. With skydiving having a high impact (generally) as a mechanism of injury. It just seems as though DZ's should have at least a couple of staff members that are very aware of how to treat someone with these types of injuries...could mean the difference in life or death....just my 2 cents -
Probably one of the coolest family oriented videos I have seen in a long time

Some friends and I were having a discussion the other day about a flat tax. Not important what the rate would be but do you think it is fair or unfair?

I agree with alot that has been said, since I just finished my aff and got my A I though I would chime in. I started reading watching gorging myself with skydive info about this time last year. I read everything I could get my hands on watched everything I could find. I am one of those that has to know as much as possible before I start. I don't believe you can be to prepared for your aff...while each dz may do it a fuzz different its all basically the same. I have to say skydiving has changed my life but it has definitely added so.ethjng that has been lacking for a while. I used to ski semi pro for years but the young 33 year old body couldn't keep up with the 16 17 year old phenoms of today....skydiving has filled that void...good luck to all of you... fyi....lots od money and time...be prepared to sit at the dz all day to do 1 or 2 jumps during g the first couple of phases....be nice to everyone at the dz and become good friends with manifest..got my license at Aerohio in Akron Ohio...amazing people amazing place...sherry butcher took me all the way through my a...she rocks...amazing place to learn if your thinterested...thanks to everyone there.

AFF loops and flips- noob question
OhioDreamsChris replied to Namowal's topic in Safety and Training
When i did backflips, front and barrel rolls is when i finally said to myself ok...i got this. Figuring out that you can get unstable and then become re-stable was a huge confidence booster for me... I have lots of flipping experience so it was rather easy for me but still a huge boost. Also in my aff program we do 2 sitfly's as part of our requirements. So fun to learn!!!! -
Bill MAher guest with bullshit skydiving story
OhioDreamsChris replied to jclalor's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ok, so did most of you miss the entire point of this mans story? I mean you should have seen the fish i caught? (yes everyone even skydivers have on the occasion exaggerated a story for the affect) I think everyone on this here should be excited that another person got to experience and feel what we do most every weekend. Even in my short time skydiving 21 jumps now. I often feel exactly the way this man felt, awesome jump chute opens and wow look at the view the experience that time after time has brought me to say wow.....how can people NOT believe in God. From under canopy i always am in aw of what God has given to every single one of us... And how awesome is he that he brought each and everyone of us to such and an amazing sport to reveal in his beauty....Whats the point? The point is dont get so caught up in 40,000ft, 14,000 feet solo no solo...be grateful that God has given someone else the opportunity to see the world from our perspective and how amazing it truly is..I hope that God blesses all of you and gives you many more opportunities to use skydiving (our love and passion) as a tool to bring not only ourselves but others closer to Him....Blue Skies -
and if your buddy just had a pc this wouldnt be an issue at all

Depth perception
OhioDreamsChris replied to OhioDreamsChris's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have thought about that...didn't know what the speed would feel like without goggles on....like eyes watering and what not...need to figure out a good quick and safe way to get them off....student helmets makes getting them off kinda hard...because the strap is under the helmet...good suggestion....I think I will try that -
Depth perception
OhioDreamsChris replied to OhioDreamsChris's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So I am through cat d moving onto cat e...the flexible glasses at the dz seem to mess up my depth perception just enough to really annoy me on landing/flare....anyone else dealt with this issue..I am going to get some of my own eye wear....any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Chris -
Hello from Mansfield, Ohio!!
OhioDreamsChris replied to OhioDreamsChris's topic in Introductions and Greets
Well i have been creeping around Dropzone.com for a while doing my research and reading a lot. Today is my 33rd birthday and i decided about 4 months ago i would treat myself to my first AFF jump at Aerohio. I went tandem about 10 years ago in NZ and loved it and always said this would be a sport i get into sometime in my life...Well the time has come this Sat April 9 my skydiving journey will begin, and i cant tell you how excited i am (although you all know). I have been an action sports athlete my whole life with some pro freestyle skiing for about 5 years...this just seems like the next step for me.. Thanks to everyone that posts on this site...it has been a great resource in the beginning baby steps of my journey.. much love Chris
